I've picked up a few new series and books during this readathon. Lore Olympus, Gideon the Ninth, Heartstopper, Hiro Arikawa and a few more that I'm very tempted by :D You certainly had an eventfull All Nighter, hope you are feeling better and you can get some reading don at your own leasure :)

I wasn't able to participate in the All Nighter 😭 I had work for most of the weekend, I only read about 50 pages of The Humans 😅 So sad you're not enjoying the Becky Chambers book, I loved it, I still consider her one of my favourites - though I still need to get to the the robot book and the last one from The Wayfarers (got it this month, am very excited to read it!). That pasta looked so yummy 🤌Hope you're fully recovered and feeling better this week! 🖤✨

Augggghhhh, G.!!!! I have acid reflux and that "inhaling and then coughing for hours" has happened to me alf a dozen times. It happened yesterday at 6 am. Horrible! The bubbling you feel in your lungs feels SO wrong. I'm so sorry you went through that. I have curtailed my eating alot trying to control my acid reflux but.... After my last bout of Covid my tastes changed alot, so it has been easier (silver lining,lol)
Ugh it's the worsttttt I'm sorry you go through that often!

I liked Before the Coffee Gets Cold but I also took a break between each chapters since Ellen said it was repeating. I read Take a Hint, Daniel Brown during the all-nighter. It was one of the few that I had on my tbr that also was available as a audio book and I was outdoor walking alot 😀

Record of a Spaceborn Few is definitely the most different of the Wayfarers series - it's my favorite but there are a lot of people who don't like it as much, so I don't think you're alone in that!

I feel exactly the same way about Record of a Spaceborn Few. I LOVED the first two wayfarer books and was SO DISAPPOINTED AND BORED by this one. Ugh. I want to read the fourth one in the series but this one killed my momentum.
Seems like there's some of us out there that have this view as well! So you're not alone :D

So wayfarers is one of my fave series, however I DNFed book 3 as I just couldn’t do it. I absolutely love the other three and just pretend that one doesn’t exist 👀

It's totally okay to not like a book, but just wanted to give you some hope - Record of a Spaceborn Few had the slowest start for me of any Becky Chambers, but it really picked up about halfway through and by the end, I LOVED it. So there is still time for you too!

Loved the vibe of the intro music! I read If We Were Villains and really enjoyed it (even with my seriously lacking Shakespeare knowledge - I'm sure a lot went over my head 😅) I've had the same journey with Becky Chambers and not ready to give up 😭
Oh I have high hopes for that one as well, although equally don't have a high degree of knowledge for Shakespeare haha
What an all nighter! Ngl this is why I'v avoided them myself haha, migraines are so temprametal (and omg I love seeing my family in kilts!)
The Record of a Spaceborn Few was a little hard for me to get into. But after I was half way through I connected and I think it is my favorite in the series. It had a lot of good commentary on diaspora and can you be a part of a place that you didn't grow up in. And some other thought provoking things for me.
I was so excited to read The Long Way to a Small Angry Planet because it was so hyped and then I ended up DNFing my first Becky Chambers
I accidentally read the second book of the Before the Coffee Gets Cold series first (don't ask me how, I'm just stupid sometimes :D) and I liked it better than the first one (which I read immediately after finishing Tales from the Café and realising I'd read the wrong book😂)
I haven't continued with the Wayfarers trilogy because I love the book so much and I'm nervous!!
There seems to be 50/50 chance you'll like or dislike the third one! :D

I love that feta tomato pasta dish! I made some last night with elbow pasta but I also like it with penne.
Love elbow pasta, though I love all pasta actually so that's a moot point haha
So sad that you don't feel ' record of a spaceborn few' and that it freaks you out so much. I have to say that out of all the becky chambers books, it is my least favourite but I still quite enjoyed it and in my opinion it does pick up towards the middle/end so if you want to continue there is hope :D

My thoughts on Before the Coffee gets cold are basically identical to yours! I'm glad I'm not alone in not giving this book 5 stars xD And ofc Summer Frost was 5 stars for me too!

I honestly love every book by Becky Chambers with the exception of "Record of a Spaceborn few". I just really disliked almost all the characters and found it quite boring... :( So you're not alone. I also had the exact same opinion of "Before the coffee get's cold".
My mind blew when you mentioned the show The Humans 🤯 I watched the first season and episode 1 of the second season yearsss ago but never continued and completely forgot about it since almost no one knows it

So sad I missed the live show. Moving made this month really hard, but I loved having the readathon there to keep me motivated to read and take some time to chill!

I’d suggest for you to do a “third (fifth?) time’s a charm” video with Becky’s books, but I don’t want it to turn out to be a sad experience. 🥲 lol But don’t worry, you don’t have to like a favorite author’s entire catalogue! It’s totally your call to call someone/something your favorite, no need to explain why! ♥️
