Eastern Michigan University are doing DNA markers for ball python morphs. Banana and Coralglow are the same gene, I believe that have also identified the markers for pied, candy, toffee,albino.. candy and toffee are also the same gene...
I've bred both lines and in my experience they are the same gene but different from different lines.also I've noticed my coral glo line tends to be cleaner with higher contrast and less freckling as they age.
Cool that you just experimented that coral glow and banana are actually indeed the same mutation as everyone said and they only know variability in phenotype just like the normals have. Great that you have the honnesty to change your mind and show us ;) . I'll be happy when you will do the same with Toffee/Candy :)
The change is so striking from first crawling from the egg to shedding and eating some meals for the Coral Glows. This video was interesting. If I saw a Banana and a Coral Glow I could only guess which was which. Love the orange pink highlights running through some of your snakes
Breed a Black Pastel to Coral Glow and also to Banana to see a difference, also breeding Leopard to Coral Glow and to Banana, it really all depends on what you breed them to, to see the subtle differences, but really doesn't seen to be much of. Great video, as always
I have a Pastel Banana male that is to me is like Bobby to you. Amazing Snake... I paired him with a Pastel Female and 2 "Normals" that are sisters from the same clutch. The Bananas I got from the sisters that didn't have Pastel in it are CRAZY orange... Like Neon Orange. I paired him to one of the sisters last year and they also came out orange and is the reason I paired him to both sisters this year. One of the guys that bought one of my orange Bananas last year sent me pics of him and he is still the same color and hasn't faded at all.
The bananas and CG's have been around so long and bred to so many different morphs, I believe breeders would've found a difference by now. One good example of two stand-alone morphs looking the same until they're bred to different morphs is the yellow belly and the asphalt (or granite or specter), especially the super versions of each. I believe any differences between a random CG and banana are within the different lines.
Hi Chris how r u? It would be great if you could do a video on snakes that still look the same grown as when they are born. It crazy to me the differences. Thanks for always sharing and have a great day ❤️🇨🇦❤️
This is what i have been saying the whole time and the fact ive bred a coral glow to a banana and did not produce a super it maybe possible but in the clutch it was easy to tell what was a banana and what was a coral glow my banana's are darker more of an orange then a yellow when babies thats how i was able to tell but yours are both light
That’s weird. Idk if it’s bc the variability in both lines but I see some peoples bananas looking washed out like they have pastel in them then other peoples bananas that are wayy brighter with high contrast and I’ve seen the same thing with coral glows. So it can go either way but when I bought my bananas and my banana girl I chose the brighter orange/yellow so the babies I produce would be brighter abs nicer then the washed out muted color look . I even have a banana firefly female that is brighter and more colorful then some peoples single gene bananas that look muted and like they have pastel. It’s definitely genetic so you can’t really produce bright vibrant bananas from a muted pastel looking banana unfortunately so choose wisely in what type of banana line you want to bring in your collection and use to breed. Very interesting though. There’s just such a high variability in both lines so it’s tough to say ones brighter then the other in my opinion but good video
Your dinker gene looks really unique! You know one of the universities is doing genetic research on ball pythons.. you should contact them and see if it’s similar to anything they have tested. University of Michigan I believe. All u have to send us a shed of the snake.
I think you have all the ingredients to make a rainbow banana/coral glow. I have a female and she is stunning. No spots and a great bright yellow with white contrast and red eyes like an albino.
That dinker coral glow almost looks like the dinker i had that ended up being blade lol so i called it blade the guy i got the spider male from had bred the father to a clown blade female but didnt know it was clown blade i had figured it out from the pictures of the mom and asking where he got it from and looking at that persons clowns and all his clowns had blade in it and marked so
They are both the only codominant albino type gene that produces black freckling and have the same male maker/female maker issue... they are definitely the same if you ask me. Almost every single morph has variations on the intensity level; orange dream, pastel, bamboo, lesser, calico, enchi, even normals! you can take 2 bananas from the same clutch and they will have small differences as well.. the cherry on top is that the "coral glow" and "banana" were found at the exact same time, so im almost positive they are the same gene just discovered by 2 different people... and i dont even think one line is more intense than the other i think some bananas are brighter than some coral glows and some coral glows are brighter than some bananas.
not to mention, they combine the exact same with other genes which is almost always how you can prove a gene out, they are just way too similar i think the community should just pick a name for them and stick with it
I think you already mixed them up or the 66%het pied is actually 100% het funny to think about a banana with orange in it, sounds fruity.. haha just kidding about it all btw im sure you were carful not to mix them up.. I def like your coral glow better..

Love it. I would love to see a whole morph comparison with similar genes (calico/sugar cinnamon/black pastels butter/lesser and so on.
Mystic/phantom also

I don’t care what anyone says, they are the same gene.

So glad you have posted a lot this week
Awesome video and that sinker is amazing 🔥💯💪🏽
They are the same thing. Differences arise with the underlying normal color and pattern.
I can't wait to see if that dinker has a super form
The only time I LOVE the freckles is when they are mixed with cinnamon! It brings out the freckles to the point where it looks good.
They are so close, that even if it's different genes, it doesn't matter 😃🍌

The nice thing about coral glows is that you have a snake with coral in the name, and it can’t kill you with venom.

The background color behind the alien heads is different on the morphs, it seems. Whiter on the banana and darker on the coral glow.

can you just breed the coral glow to the banana and see if it makes a super and just end the question once and for all?
I'd say they are the same just diffrent lines and phenotypes
How do you breed to get bananas.? What kind of male and female do you need?

Hope you can get a few "base mystery gene" boys and girls isolated and produce a super. GL look forward to seeing how this goes.
Have you put any recessive’s into your dinker project? You definitely have something going on with it. Be interesting to see it in clown and DG!

I have banana but i would be just like you if i got a coral glow i would keep them separate as well just to keep the lineage going 😀

I sent you the info on your Instagram about research project
If you bread the coralglow with a banana will u make a super
Yes!
Do you have a website to buy them?
Just Morphmarket, check it out: www.morphmarket.com/us/c/all?store=cchardwick

Do you wanna split?

Look I am first to comment this time lol. If anything I think they are lighter. But I will see what you think 🤔 😂
I want to send you a message on morph market and show you a picture of my pastel ghi. It’s so much like it
The coral glow seems to be literally 2 percent more clear we’re the purple touches the yellow pattern…
All I see is that theyre the same gene with polymorphism.
Your neighbor probably just had a duller quality animal.
Weird my banana is way more lavender

Can I have a snake please
here ya go ~~~~~:>
😂😂
