He uses some light distortion as his baseline tone too. When playing fingerstyle in a metal band you have two options really. Either go for an Opeth Blackwater Park mix and have the bass be all boomy and fat or go for some top end distortion to cut through the mix

When i hear people say that,,, I tell them that it’s two different instruments. if you want to play bass, you better be able to walk up on a stage and play any song and it doesn’t matter if you heard it or not… that’s the difference. Guitar doesn’t follow the bottom.

@@FirstLast-cd6vv That's not the point... When you get to the more advanced stuff, bass is definitely not an easy instrument to play. So say for the C major 7th chord patterns, he is playing C E G B In multiple positions and accentuating the Root to octave, 1-3, 1-5, 1-7, 3-octave, 3-5... Etc, etc but along with minor 7th, dominant 7th and diminished 7th chords. Is that right?

That tapping part in the beginning is similar to Platypus' song "Yoko Againo" bassline.

It's rare to see him saying more than 7 words each 10 seconds.

there' s a saying in French, " La parole est d'argent; le silence est d'or". sure, the gentleman doesn't talk a lot, but dont lose your time searching for some articles about him talking trash. i believe there are none.

If you want to be a better electric bass player you should also listen to upright bass players as NielsHenning Ørsted Pedersen. Its playing helped me to get a better sound.
