As for selecting sentences, just pick them randomly. Any sentences that you like, or think may be useful. You don't need to scrutinise them for whatever is required in them. As a beginner, do I need to understand each sentence? I don’t mean looking it up once and then using your technique, but actively understanding the sentence structure, the vocab, the grammar etc. of each sentence. Thanks!
For example, you speak mandarin is perfect for words, sentence, phases and so on. But for ascent the first second we can tell it is a foreigner speaks not a Chinese. Though yours is already the top top among foreigners.
Is there a lesson out there for chinese pronunciation similar to your English one? I find most lessons out there to be too basic and stop at getting tones right but don’t make the next steps to get rid of a foreigner accent

My first language is Spanish but I’ve now been in LA for 14 years , I think now my brain doesn’t register if I am speaking English or Spanish however when trying to learn mandarin with an English speaking teacher it kinda electrocutes my brain... would it be better to try to learn with a Spanish speaking teacher ? 其实我发现一点，我个人对模仿各地各国口音非常有兴趣，从小喜欢说唱和美剧，所以我说英语口音还是比较地道的，而且可以模仿美国好多口音，意大利裔纽约口音、南部口音、洛杉矶口音等等，中文也总喜欢学别的地方方言。我照着一段话念英语别人都会以为我是美国人，可是问题在于，与别人真正对话，很难把语言中全部的元素恰当合适并且流利不过脑地运用出来，这真的需要很长时间的练习。关注你很久很久了，真的很佩服你，因为你不仅仅可以将北京口音说的那么到位，你对中文的用法也非常的接地气。
口音的確能拉近距離增強信任感。記得有一次在機場，看到兩個拿著中國護照的老人家迷路了，不知道登機口在哪裡，慌慌張張的樣子。我上去主動詢問，他們支支吾吾，感覺有點防備心。但我聽出他們的口音後，馬上轉天津話再詢問一次，老人家像看到親人一樣，想都不想馬上把護照登機牌遞給我，讓我幫她看看。還把手機拿出來，讓我幫她給閨女發短信保平安。我把他們帶到登機口後，老人拉著我不停地說，謝謝姐姐謝謝姐姐。

学习语言最重要的在于思维，也就是你学习那门语言的当地文化这是重点。五十多岁了才开始想起学习语言，略差于人的就是翻译因为在我的脑海里两种语言之间是无法精准翻译的，当我和别人用英语交流的时候自然的就转换成英语思维不受任何语言的干扰，再用日语交流的时候那就是日语思维。所以学习语言千万不要掺杂其他语言进来，学习日语就完全用日语学习，就这样让我现在掌握了三门不同的语言，年龄不是太大的问题因为学习语言就好比学习烧电焊，没有真正的老师当你掌握了正确的方法那么假以时日就可以流利的表达出你和对方所要的。年龄小接受能力强不错年龄大逻辑思维和社会阅历深。最最重要的是热爱，我是以对待恋人般的心态去对待学习的。

作为一个留学生，虽然感觉口音很重要，但其实真正困扰我们交往的其实是流利地道的口语表达和用词。有时候觉得自己口音真的还可以吧，但一到跟native说话的时候就会思考很久，说出来的句子也是听着让人不太舒服，表达的意思也不准确，带有很强的中式思维。这样久了别人就更不愿意跟你讲话 自己也会很受挫 不愿意开口。不知道马老师可不可以在这方面帮助一下我们卑微的留美生
多和当地人扯皮，多听多说，桥到船头自然直。我推荐和ABC聊，因为白人一般情况下不愿意和亚洲人交朋友嘛但是ABC愿意，不过也有朋友谈老外对象，那口语进步也是飞快。
外国人，你有范，不卑不亢，硬件软件都要有，别人看人第一都是看形体体态，越文明的越肤浅越科学，你有范，形体给人舒服养眼的感觉，音乐好，体育好，或者人很nature,只要有好的特色基本都能融入，中国人不是能让别人接纳你，应该是人家自发喜欢你，不一定你去找别人，人家自己想来靠近你，逗逗你，没有人喜欢不健康的人，思维跟形体上。

我的口音就是七八分，但是感觉要10分对我来说简直不可能。太绝望了！你太厉害了！
马思瑞的中文口语确实很好，但这种地方口音的普通话并不是最地道的普通话，最地道的普通话应该是没有口音的。普通话跟英语不一样，普通话是一门人造的语言，所以会有一个标准发音，最纯正的普通话就是完全按拼音发音。如果你说普通话带口音，很多时候会被人认为你语言能力不行或没怎么上过学。

说实话我也觉得口音和当地人更接近的话，会比有中文口音的更容易被当地人接受和倾听。有一个例外，就是如果你对欧美文化研究很透彻，并且拥有非常过人的风趣幽默，比如像华裔的脱口秀喜剧演员Joe Huang（好像是叫黄西？），那么大部分人都会忽略你的口音问题。不过你还是至少得做到说话通畅流利，让人听着不费力才行，而且如果你都对他们的文化了解那么深刻了，大部分人在学习这些文化的过程中多多少少都会学到更地道的口音了

老炮说得很对，中国人对外国人会很有耐心。如果一个外国人在中国学中文，身边中国人都会热心教他，我认识的很多外国人一两年后中文就很地道了。如果中国人在美国要学英语，你的英语很蹩脚，美国人根本不会搭理你。中国人只能和中国人凑一块，这就是为什么很多中国在美国呆了十年，英语还很差的原因。
