I think the reason why people like this song is because they KNOW it’s an insincere apology. Bieber’s hate and controversy was his image at the time and people tend to like songs that lean into the artist public persona.
Maybe the reason people like is because they can tell he's still not actually sorry, but the song isn't trying very hard to convince you he's sorry. Like, with those other examples you listed, they come off as not truly sorry, just trying really hard to convince you they're sorry. Bieber's song is like, "yeah, I'll say I'm sorry, but ha I don't really mean it, I'm still a douche and you love it." And for some reason people are into that kind of persona.
This is my favorite JB song. Knowing that Skrillexx produced this gives me a different respect for him. He really produced a tight beat. To be honest, this song is far better than anything else he's ever done. I liked What Do You Mean, but the beat isn't nearly as tight as this one. The chorus always gets me. The lyrics are so corny, but I love it. I love corny love songs with dumb lyrics. Mind you, I love deeper songs even more, but these dumb pop songs are so great. The music video is so great. He isn't even in it. That's way better than any other music video he's made. I love it, dude.
the bright side is that this video is pure gold gif material, you can just take any of those dancers and paste them over trump campaing videos`also... AM I THE ONLY ONE THAT WANTS A SONIC YOUTH/MENUDO COLABORATION?!!!! even though that wont ever happen because menudo moved on?...
Yeah, Todd gets mad about Bieber being a douche, but I mean... There's no way Bieber doesn't know how shitty all of that sounds. He's just being self aware, yet somehow self absorbed and I think the apology works (for me) because he isn't pretending to be a good person.
+Colin O'Briant In what way is it an apology then? It's more of an acceptance...as well as a slight shifting of blame onto others for daring to expect better of him.
I actually like this song. While not a top 2016 favorite of mine, the lyrics at least show Bieber isn't trying to hide his past bad behavior underneath a phoney improved happy persona and that beat is great! Compared to Chris Brown who kept screwing up after the Rihannia incident both in his music and off microphone behavior, Bieber at least is trying.
"We like people who go through life without apologizing" Well yeah, but not enough to elect themRAAAAAAADIEDIEDIE Sorry, did I start shaking violently and screaming mid-sentence? That's been happening a lot lately.
When I first saw this video clip, I laughed; Bieber knows he's so hated by the public, he decided the best thing he could do was give them a Bieber-free video! Kind of like how McDonald's new advertising campaign is "How very un-McDonalds!". I've never liked any Bieber music, but to be honest, there's something about this song that I find really catchy. I actually really like the videoclip - the dancing is incredibly hypnotic and I love watching it (especially because I don't have to look at Bieber's face). Yeah, it's a completely insincere apology, both in the context of the song's narrative and in the context of Bieber's career ("can't we just get back to when everyone loved me?"), but when considered just as a song with a very engaging videoclip, this song remains one of my guilty pleasures.
The chick with the gray yin yang symbols on her outfit annoys me so much. Well, her outfit does. The top is much lighter than the rest, so it makes me think she's washed the color out of it by repeated laundry trips.
curious - what DO u think us grandpas and grandmas are gonna be playing in 50 years? - that is, if i survive 50 years people get sappier as they get older, so i'm unfortunately pretty sure we're gonna be hearing a lot of all of me and thinking out loud - there were so many classic records back in the 60s to the 90s, but grandpas don't play those, they play music in the tradition of easy listening nonsense all the way from pat boone to bryan adams to the soundtrack of the bodyguard

I am always so happy to see your reviews, Todd! You are honestly my favorite reviewer from Channel Awesome. After seeing these comments about the music video I went ahead and watched it for the first time and it's pretty clear the dancers aren't buying the sincerity of the song either. LOL. They're obviously having fun, but their expressions and their outfits makes me think that they are poking fun at Bieber and his teenage girl fans.
That low-breathing singing voice sounds like he's trying to be a male version of Lorde, but without those pesky qualities like charm, personality and intelligent lyrics.
I thought the music video was very artistic and creative. And it was clear the girls actually pro dancer. Cool choreography too. Bieber wins for hiring that choreographer for his entire music vids in his album
+ImaPlayThis I really like it. I think the dancing and the music go very well together. And it's at least something different, not the 356 billionth video with just asses and tits in it. I mean, the women in this video aren't wearing much clothing, but they aren't sexualized at all.
+Tre' Jones I think it's cause we all secretly wish we could just say or do whatever we want and not have to answer for it, so subconsciously, we want to see assholes succeed.
Jaspertine Yeah, I think you're right about that. It would be so much easier to just be able to say whatever we want with no filter and no concern for how others will be affected/react. Also explains the harshness of the Internet. The anonymity that comes with it provides some people the security to be assholes. Like you said, we secretly wish we could say what we want without having to answer for it.
Am I the only one who thinks that even the music video looks douchey. Like the womens faces and all that, I mean. I can hear the vapid valley girl accent in their dancing. Also in a sincere apology song... WHO THINKS THAT SEXY DANCING IS FITTING!!!?
i know this happened way after this was released but you can add travis scott in that category. he caused like ten kids to die from his astroworld disaster festival back in late 2021. what did he do? he spent the rest of 2021 apologizing in public. what did everyone do? they clowned on him. what did he do next? he continued his career in 2022 like if nothing has ever happened. what happened next, people continued to rock with him, including his buddy drake, who had him as a guest appearance on one of his albums in 2022 and it had big streams. speaking of drake, he was also part of the astroworld festival disaster and drake didn't apologize for nothing and what happened? his career kept going up and up and still maintained that strong fanbase. i could also mention the doja cat's situation and cardi b's situation (not related to the astroworld festival disaster) and they didn't apologize for shit and their careers kept going higher, but i think you all see what i mean here, right? like you said, everybody just likes unrepentant assholes.

Wow. Was hoping they at least played some Creed.
+Tevo77777 I'd rather deal with this than Creed any day of the week.
+SeanStrife i would prefer to listen to deathcore then creed, they both suck and the first kills my hearing within seconds(to stop the torture)
Thijs van asselt I'm with you on that, man.
+puffle power what about the other 10%?
My life is just waiting for Todd to post.
Who else just died when 'Bangarang' came on after Todd said, "Who made this amazing beat?!"?
OMG, the song he played at the end was just too perfect. I cracked up. :)
A Todd review about JB? But my birthday was last month!
+Todd The Toddler Howard Ahahahah! What I meant is that I wasn't expecting such a great surprise
+Todd The Toddler Howard IT'S TOO LATE TO SAY THAT HOWARD!!!!
Bieber blatantly being a bastard is actually one of the things I like about the song.
That's why I don't mind it
Yeah, Todd gets mad about Bieber being a douche, but I mean...
Paul Dennett You right.
9:56 excuuuse me princess
These dancermoves in the video remind of the nurses from Silent Hill.
Good job Justin.
thanks for the nightmares 😂
Literally opened this immediately in case it got slammed with a claim lmao.
"We like people who go through life without apologizing"
Well yeah, but not enough to elect themRAAAAAAADIEDIEDIE
Sorry, did I start shaking violently and screaming mid-sentence? That's been happening a lot lately.
In before it gets taken down.
Gotta watch this quick before it gets taken down. #WTFU
true hope you don't agree with him
I hope those girls got paid well, because I'd feel super embarrassed if I was in that said video.
Cass WantsPie nah, they danced really well. i hope they were paid well because they deserved it
When I first saw this video clip, I laughed; Bieber knows he's so hated by the public, he decided the best thing he could do was give them a Bieber-free video!
How seriously can you take a song called "Sorry" when the music video has a lone of women spanking each other.
Whats wrong with spanking dumbass
Hostility much?
+NCeeJayM he's saying sorry but he doesn't show up in the video. meaning it's empty.
Well, yes. You really don't need to see the video to know that ;p
The chick with the gray yin yang symbols on her outfit annoys me so much. Well, her outfit does. The top is much lighter than the rest, so it makes me think she's washed the color out of it by repeated laundry trips.
Now that you point it out its the only thing I can see now.
I'M TAKING YOU DOWN WITH ME.
I hope in 50 years Bieber's music doesn't get "classic" status....
Does anyone remember the Four Tops today?
Teddy Haines four who?
ChaosmakerTV
Exactly. They had the fourth biggest song of 1966, for the record.
Don't you be sassin' on Levi Stubbs, dude.
curious - what DO u think us grandpas and grandmas are gonna be playing in 50 years? - that is, if i survive 50 years
people get sappier as they get older, so i'm unfortunately pretty sure we're gonna be hearing a lot of all of me and thinking out loud - there were so many classic records back in the 60s to the 90s, but grandpas don't play those, they play music in the tradition of easy listening nonsense all the way from pat boone to bryan adams to the soundtrack of the bodyguard
Happy to report from the future that R Kelly is in prison. Justin Bieber remains at large
Am I the only one who feels like the girls are making fun of Bieber for the whole video, with some added fanservice.
Thanks Todd good job as always good to see you video actually on RUclips
The dancing girls irritate me more than anything else. It looks like they're mocking us.
Went to bed and woke up, video still up -- should I commit sepuku?
no
You have failed the Empire! You must commit Sepuku cyka!
+lcmiracle seppuku has two 'p's
***** My lord, I have failed to complete sudoku! What a shamfur dispray! I shall commit Seppuku in thy honor!
Apology to Justin Bieber: Insincere song with women twerking randomly
I would’ve enjoyed random twerking women if they were fully naked! XD
@@kieranstark7213 no one asked, weirdo
He sounds like Link from the Zelda CDI games. 'Well Excuuuuse me Princess!'.
That's the tv show, not cdi
I always thought this song was insincere. I mean the video always gave off that impression like I thought the whole point is that here are these fantastic dancers and briber is like a slimy ex leaving a message on their answering machine and they are making fun of him. That's why I like the song plus the great production
OMG! Real Todd come back ! With his angry rant, funny, sarcastic comments and understanding of music. This video remind me old chanel review old In The Shadows - "OMG" by Usher. Good job mate!
NEVER CHANGE TODD WE LOVE YOU xx
The first time I heard Sorry, I loved it. Then I found out Justin Bieber sang it. Now I don't know what to think.
People just like asshole?.....I guess that’s true. Doug Walker is still around.
Independently from everything, the dancers in the video are killing it on this beat
That low-breathing singing voice sounds like he's trying to be a male version of Lorde, but without those pesky qualities like charm, personality and intelligent lyrics.
the music video dancing is so obNOXIOUS
What if I told you that lyrics don't matter in 90% of hit pop songs?
txcforever NO this can't be true
For me music is always more important than lyrics
I thought the music video was very artistic and creative. And it was clear the girls actually pro dancer. Cool choreography too. Bieber wins for hiring that choreographer for his entire music vids in his album
Real talk though, can't we all agree that the music video is one of the funniest things ever. Like seriously the women look like robots spasming out
+ImaPlayThis I know! I think some of them need an exorcism.
+ImaPlayThis
I really like it. I think the dancing and the music go very well together. And it's at least something different, not the 356 billionth video with just asses and tits in it. I mean, the women in this video aren't wearing much clothing, but they aren't sexualized at all.
Madame Red I hope you're being ironic.
@@krustentier123 I agree! I love the dancing.
Yeah I don’t know why I hate this style of dancing it’s just jerky movements and grinding hips and the dancing is way to hard for this soft song
Was waiting for that Chris Brown comparison all video
You've nailed why Trump is leading the primaries
"We just like unrepentant assholes."
Ha! Totally. People like to sugarcoat it as "being authentic". But really, it's just being an asshole.
Boy, this comment thread aged well XD
oh hey, it's still up when I got here
that feels nice
Am I the only one who thinks that even the music video looks douchey. Like the womens faces and all that, I mean. I can hear the vapid valley girl accent in their dancing. Also in a sincere apology song... WHO THINKS THAT SEXY DANCING IS FITTING!!!?
Am I the only one who reads other comments before commenting?
Kimi FW I don't know?
I mean I usually read the first ten or something like that.
Those girls are from New Zealand
***** Okay?
Kimi FW just saying
This is why I'm glad I never cared about Bieber in the first place.
BEST. ENDING CREDITS SONG. EVER.
He's indecisive. He can't decide.
Eenie meaney miney mo lava
I'm glad I was able to get here before RUclips
i know this happened way after this was released but you can add travis scott in that category. he caused like ten kids to die from his astroworld disaster festival back in late 2021. what did he do? he spent the rest of 2021 apologizing in public. what did everyone do? they clowned on him. what did he do next? he continued his career in 2022 like if nothing has ever happened. what happened next, people continued to rock with him, including his buddy drake, who had him as a guest appearance on one of his albums in 2022 and it had big streams. speaking of drake, he was also part of the astroworld festival disaster and drake didn't apologize for nothing and what happened? his career kept going up and up and still maintained that strong fanbase. i could also mention the doja cat's situation and cardi b's situation (not related to the astroworld festival disaster) and they didn't apologize for shit and their careers kept going higher, but i think you all see what i mean here, right? like you said, everybody just likes unrepentant assholes.
I love dubstep. I love skrillex. Thank god that I now know why l liked this song, even though the only word I understood was, "sorry".
Refreshing to see an objective review ❤️
"We like unrepentant assholes" What are you talking about Todd? There's no wa- oh yeah, Trump.
The people that defend Trump with the genuine excuse worry me.There's a lot of people genuinely being themselves you don't want to be your leader or near your children.
+simone robson What's worse is that he isn't genuine. He lies and contradicts himself all the time. It's just such different lies that people are mistaking it for honesty.
+theaxehandle1 clearly undereducated-conservative karma! ...they get the trump that they deserve!
Perfect outro song
Todd, I've definitely been missing more than your body.
Weeell excuuuuuse me princess! Thumbs up for this video if you got that.
11:14 Thanks for giving Demi Lovato the title for her hit song last year(2017) Todd.
I'm pretty sure you could impale someone clean through if DJ Mustard made this beat, because that would be the sharpest quality spike physically possible.
9:58 *inserts excuse me princess right here*
