    Came here after watching your Midra reaction video. I had no idea you had started a playthrough. Good job on the erdtree sentinel; I knew you had some experience at soulslikes but you're better than i expected. That is to say, you'll get to experience the game faster and more enjoyably than somebody who dies a lot, which is important for the steaming aspect. As far as the soundtracks, there's only a few that go hard in my opinion, but the ones that do go HARD. Hope you have fun.

    Idk if you read this, but upgrading vigor on start is very usefull. Because weapon is not upgraded, strength and other damage attributes are not so effective, while hp is (esspecially on the start) is very important

      The majority of craftable items, I've never used; stuff like Cured Meats or Cuckoo Glintstones have always just cluttered up space in my inventory.
      I don't deny that they're technically useful, it's just that I never think to actually use them, or remember that they even exist.
      I mean, have you ever _legitimately_ eaten a Dappled White Cured Meat? Or thrown a Poison Stone Cluster?
      But other things, like Throwing Knives, Pots, Boluses, status-Bone Arrows, and a few other things were extremely handy on my first playthrough, and most always remained useful afterwards. The number of desperate clutch Throwing Knife kills I got on my first playthrough in particular is astounding, and Fire Pots had a permanent home in my hotbar for a long time.
      I only really used Grease on my first playthrough, because they're pretty quickly outclassed by either buffs or infusions, but for costing effectively nothing for free damage, there's really no justification _not_ to use them if you don't have something else in their place.
      Perfumes in particular are really severely slept on, in my opinion. Spark Aromatics deal legit damage for how quickly you can fart them out, and being able to give yourself the Bubble Tear effect as many times as you want _without_ your Physick is massive.

    I played around 250 hours of this game and still can't get into it and don't like it much. I don't get the hype. The other Soulsgames are way better. The open world formular is boring to me (in general), the quest system completly cryptic bs which makes a guide mandatory to use. The setting is compared to the other games also boring. I hope you have fun but do you know that feeling when everyone is hyped for a game or some game get hyped up all the time and you're the single person that just don't get it? yeeah...and i'm a HUGE Soulsborne fan. But this game just doesn't do it for me.

    • @signa8
      @signa8 7 месяцев назад +5

      @@Blutroth shame it doesn't work for you. ER is the best game I've played in my life, and I've been playing games since the 80s.

    • @Blutroth
      @Blutroth 7 месяцев назад

      @@signa8 I'm playing games since the 80s too. I just find the world design in this game not very great. The repeating catacombs are no fun (at least to me). I prefer world design where everything is very thought through and more compact. I'm not a big fan of open world in general so that might be a problem. I had the same problem with BOTW, even tho i played through it and found it somewhat entertaining, the moment i can see the repeating stuctural design (stables placed in locations, shrines (even tho they are not bad or anything) for filler material etc. it kinda get's a bitter taste for me. Like in ER i came across so many of these catacombs and often asked myself is it really worth it exploring? Same with the TRee sentinels...okay just kill number xy and get an item.. it felt like working through a list of repeating things to me. I had to force myself to go through these, cause i almost already knew what awaited me. Yes theres many other aspects that are fine with ER, just overall it didn't click for me in general and the other soulsborne games are way more fun to me. But more power to you, if it changed your life!

    • @signa8
      @signa8 7 месяцев назад +3

      @@Blutroth Yeah, sounds like open world games are a general negative point for you. I'm at a place where I don't like open world games either, because every game tried doing it, and most of them felt bad because of it. ER's world design was a bit different, where exploring things is actually interesting to me, and BOTW captured that feeling as well. However, after playing ER, I tried playing BOTW again, and everything about that game felt a lot worse. Then TotK came out, and it was basically more BOTW, so I had a very hard time getting into it because of that.
      For games like GTA or Assassin's Creed, I don't even want to play them at all anymore. The exploration of those worlds is not interesting. So when an open world game gets it right for me, it gets bonus points in my scorebook.

      If it makes you feel better, you are not alone. Plenty of people share the sentiment. Me included. Although, I had a somewhat opposite experience with it: I initially loved the game, as I did all the previous From's Soulsborne games. But the more I played, the more the "cracks" showed and eventually I just had to admit that I am not having as much fun as I expected.
      Personally, I don't think the Souls-like formula is a good fit for an open world. Especially the original From-Software formula with such barebones combat. Rolling around and spamming L1 attacks might be fun for 50 hours with every boss encounter being unique. But it is certainly not enough for 100 hours filled with the same catacombs with the same imps and the same bosses for the majority of it. There are quite a few problems Elden Ring has beyond that. But I believe all of them essentially stem from this one single core problem of trying to fit the fundamentally restrictive souls formula onto the Open-world.
      That said, according to my Steam counter I played Elden Ring for 480 hours across multiple playthroughs + DLC. So it's obvious I do enjoy the game. But I still feel that despite its sheer scale (or rather because of it), ER is an overall worse experience than any other Souls game From released in the past. It really saddens me, because I believe they will most likely keep doing the open world thing now that ER has found such a massive success and we probably won't see another Bloodborne-level masterpiece by them.
      Not all is lost, though! I finished Lies of P just today, and if you haven't played it, I really recommend giving it a shot. I certainly had more fun playing it than Elden Ring DLC. This game makes me hopeful that there are great souls-like games yet to be released waiting in the future. But, paradoxically, I don't believe they should be expected from From Soft anymore...

      @@antonsidorov7531 I've played through lies of p at the beginning of this year, it was a great game, really put some unique things into the souls formular. The level designs could've been better imho (especially the last area was really bland) but overall for a game made by a smaller developer it was very good. Thanks for your comment, I share a lot of your thoughts.
