Personnellement pour nettoyer mes pièces je les pose dans un bac a ultrasons, il en existe certains qui chauffe le liquide dans le bac mais c'est juste parfait Toutes la résine en trop est enlevé presque instantanément
Despite the imperfections the clean up was amazing! I couldn't image forging a piece like that without soldering tons of small components together very time consuming. I guess thats where lost wax casting takes the cake. Nice work! 👏 Thanks for sharing
Very late to the party... But I think those imperfections are due to having no air vents. As you pour the silver the air needs some place to go. I know that the investment casting is porous, but the silver will cool down before it can get drawn into those areas.. Just food for thought Subscribed BTW 😁
Following your own points, that droopyness could well be directly linked to the postcure cleanup process, as the resin is stone cold and any ecxess that would have pooled around will have set solid, and not wash off. I'd expect if you put it in a heated sonic bath, that it would look perfectly fine, as all the uncured resin would melt off easily :)
I did that but I didn't talk about it in the video but I did say that I tested it later and it was still like that. 😁👍 I also didn't do any post curing
@@GomeowCreations Darn, I guess for most things, I can tolerate a bit more resin in places, it's better than a bit less haha Think it's about £120 a litre here too, well worth a bunt me thinks. I need to get a sm4k first though to really take advantage of the neccessary mono upgrade ;)
I found the prints a bit rough for my use but this could also be due to the settings on your printer and not the wax on how many microns was your printer set ? But this wax looks interesting enough
When you were sawing off the sprues, I noticed all the flakes. How do you collect them to keep down the waste and expense? I haven't yet managed to watch all your videos, so apologize if you have covered this previously. Thank you for all the teachings. Once my studio is ready, I plan to utilize all of your expertise to learn.
Ye, there are others that cost $300 per kg and I have some now that is $75 per kg. PLA doesn't burn out perfectly clean and you really can't get the details needed from PLA and FDM printing or print as small. Even though the resin does cost a lot each ring is under a dollar in resin and you should be selling them for a lot more than that. It's just the upfront cost of everything that really adds up.
Hi Randy - I"ve learned so much from your videos and now I make and sell pendants (and other gemstone jewelry) on Amazon. I have a question. I've been making all traditional bezel settings with a 20 gauge back plate. Now I want to do some open back settings. I've seen on Ganoksin that people sometimes make these with square wire and bezel wire. Have you made any videos of this technique? Fitting the square wire is tricky and the soldering is also tricky. Thanks for everything - your videos are so clear and I really appreciate it.
Thanks for a good review and a lot of additional information. I have been thinking about taking the dive into 3d so many of the links were very useful.
I wonder if the resin in the printer was starting to cool off at all? Not sure how much heat those units generate while in operation. You may consider putting the warmed resin in the vac chamber to pull the bubbles out after you shake it, then do a careful pour into the printer.
Thanks and it's a motorcycle engine that a client of mine wanted made. As for the silver, I bought it when silver was a lot cheaper from rio grande I believe.

Yeah lost wax has a lot of upsides for detail along with speed. You can make a lot of the same thing all at once in one cast.

Oh yeah I keep all of them. I use them in inlay rings or you can melt them down into useable silver sheet and wire again. 😁👍
No successful jeweler touches metal with tools without a scrap drawer or apron. It adds up fast.
what wax did u use to fill in the imperfections and holes in the model? can i use regular candle wax?
120 bucks per kg is considered cheap? Ok.... why not use PLA you can burn that out pretty well right?

I'm glad we weren't the only ones trying to combat the drooping lol, great stuff though. Thanks for the shout out!
No problem 😊👍

Well thanks for taking the time to watch it 😁
What about large hollow prints? I've wondered how those work.
I have no idea, I have never needed to do that
Randy this was awsome! The design looks like an car engine on a ring shank 😎👏. Question Where did you get so much silver from!?
Thanks and it's a motorcycle engine that a client of mine wanted made.
