was about to write this. I was so annoyed by that mission that I found a way to bypass the diving bit entirely. Just climb out of the water and go from there :D
The first few levels are good, till you travel back to prehistoric period and fight that gigantic DNA thinngy. And the worst of them all is the spaceship level. Die there and Ecco goes back all the way to the start of that long level. 😅

I quite liked the one in Mickey Mouse, World of Illusion. The ones in Crash Bandicoot 3 weren't a problem either. Also the whole game of Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet was decent, just like being in space but with water sound effects.
IS there a good water level in any game? Zelda's water levels usually suck (I've only really beaten/almost beaten about four of them so I'm not that sure about it..... Twilight Princess's water level wasn't horrible, just annoying to get to with the Zora tunic (love the design of it though), Skyward Swords was AMAZING even if it technically doesn't really count for the little actual in-water gameplay there is there, and they already mentioned Ocarina of Time. Don't think Phantom Hourglass really has a water 'level' either...)
I hate sewer levels more than water levels for the following reasons 1: everything is dark and looks the fucking same 2:normally it's just a straight pipeline instead of an actual fun well though out level 3: the enemies are either disgusting or poisonous usually both 4: you'll always have that water segment of the sewer level that either slows you down or throws you into the swim animation. I mean what the fuck am I supposed to do with water that is JUST high enough for me to swim in it 5: many games use sewers as a means of transportation which is bullshit and annoying having to go back through the same sewer to a place you've already been. No amount of new enemies or encounters can change that for me
Sewer levels are statistically much more manageable compared to water levels in most games... The amount of 'decent' sewer levels is really high considering there is one in pretty much every game... The amount of really bad water levels is very high for the few times they appear in games...
ɥsǝlʌ That's the problem. Normally it's the same sewer layout with the same disgusting color pattern in every game. At least water levels generally have new things in them you don't find elsewhere but sewers just have the same enemies most of the time
Vashir is refreshing. You even get an underwater mount right away in the questline... it really helps doing something different and having pseuso flight at lower levels. It will probably feel weird if you're playing a fire mage lol
***** Well then i dont understand why you like it lol i suppose the exploration and discover aspect of it there is a lot to play with in many of loz water temples making them non linear which tends to annoy players more than allow them to enjoy the game even tho it is what they ask for.
GTAV should be an honorable mention just because of how much detail they put into underwater then gave you jack all to do in it. Oooh, a super slow submarine, woo.
Damn, I must've been shit at gaming when I was 10 because I was looking for cheat ways of getting through it on ps2. I found out that if you are completely submerged, you watch a cinematic in the pause menu, and go back. The game acts like there is no water at all.
I loved Vashj'ir... I can't relate to any issues normally controlling my character in Vashj'ir. The water breathing buff you get within 10 minutes of arriving, and that you can't avoid getting if you want to do any more quests there, also buffs your movement speed. Now, using abilities in water can be odd or mostly broken which I never actually hear as a complaint about Vashj'ir.
Bazinga Atlantica 1 sucked ass, but 2 was not really a water section but a mandatory rhythm section which has since become mandatory stealth sections. (Secretly tho, I liked it.)
I'm surprised you didn't do the Manaan underwater research lab from the first Knights of the Old Republic. When you get into the envirosuit you become so slow that Yoda could walk circles around you.

The Channel That Plants Crave besides that tho it shouldn't be on the list! That was by far one of my favorite missions of the entire game, especially when they ban you from their world! (Depending what you did)
the sewer in dead island almost ruined the game. I lost a high lvl character because I went into the sewer without a quest to give me a route through it and got lost. couldnt find an exit and kept getting turned around. legend says purna is still down there to this day.
The sewer level in the original Silent Hill... Your radio doesn't work, so you can't hear if there are monsters nearby, and they grapple you from above! Terrifyingly annoying.
Earthworm Jim's water level with the SPHERE... between my bestfriend and I broke 2 SNES controllers by smashing them on the floor playing this torturing level when the game 1st came out in the 90's....lol.

The Witcher 3. Yes I said it. Even though its against the law to say anything bad about witcher 3. But as soon as u hop into the water, the controls are utterly useless. I have rage quit at least ten times due to water related deaths
I didn't have a problem swimming, must be difficult for some others then. It was easy as hell to kill a Drowner or a siren underwater with one hit, auto aim crossbow.
would be an interesting research! i remember having fun playing as a fast Zora in Majora's Mask. And some Spyro game on PSX... not sure which one was it tho, but swimming wasn't as boring or tedious.
any gathering mission is the same, but the water makes everything tedious. nothing interesting happens either if you fly a helicopter for spaceship parts or letter scraps, but then at least you get a view to enjoy
Just report the guy for spam and hope for the best. Never respond to them unless you've verbally whipped up something that can shake their self-esteem.
I mean, yeah, the swimming in BotW was slow, but once I got the full Zora suit, I loved the swimming. Only time in my life where the water level was one of my favorite parts.
Triff Mangle Slip yeah true but when u succeed it feels awesome. that whole planet with that level was kinda dark. remember the first planet? that was an amazing first start of the game
never hated water levels, i love water in real life too... only bad water levels i remember were in the first 3 tomb raider games.. especially that room with frogmen and crocs in luds gate
Lol I completely forgot about veshier. I don't remember getting annoyed by it. The only thing I remember is the dungeon from it as is was a decent one to grind.
I always found the water levels in Mario 64 relaxing. The eel from Jolly Roger Bay was anything but relaxing but other than that I really enjoyed them.
I don't understand how they let that slide through quality control. It was really bad. I thought I was the only one who got stuck 50 times and could barely swim forward.
Peter Varadi Maybe people hated the swimming part, but then again.. the difference is speed is almost the same, just that you can go up and down as well.
Starfals Yeah, and with the mount, you're able to move very fast. It did suck before you got the swimming buff, but since you get it so early on, I don't see the problem. I've actually considered leveling a character from scratch just so I could experience the Cata zones again, and in particular Vashj'ir.
Awais Khan You're kidding, right? I fucking hated the diving zones with the fucking sharks and lampreys and having to tediously swim around because I can't overcome completionist desires and really wanted that fully upgraded Jackdaw so I could easily screw over Hornigold's Schooner. Shit gives me PTSD
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time would be the worst water level to me, since in the original it was game over if you used the keys in the wrong order w/out savin prior to doing anything in it.
I wouldn't call this a level, but any Pokemon game, ESPECIALLY EMERALD, where you have to use surf to go to a certain town. You can't go 4 spaces without running into a wild poke on. It's ridiculous
I call bullshit on the WoW water zone. I find it very well designed, plus you get a very fast underwater mount form the first few quests in the zone. That is actually one of my favourite zones.
ROFL I got a water level for you. Everquest, Plane of Water. 100% under water from start to finish. Some players have rare items giving them water breathing, most need spells cast on them and refreshed throughout the 3-4 hours it takes to finish it back when it first came out. We'd do it in 40 minutes now, but back in the beginning nobody had enough DPS or knowledge to speed through it. If you lost your water breathing spell you started to drown. If you drowned, you couldn't (at that time) be resurrected by a Cleric under water. So your corpse had to be dragged back to zone entrance (which could be very far away if raid is at the boss "room") so it could be resurrected. We had it down pat, and were well disciplined, but still keeping 70 players with spells up was a full time job for a couple casters. *That is a water level* !
what ever open world means you are not limited to do tasks in a certain order or that you are not limited in your movment through out the world - the old Zelda games are quite the opposite. Just because you can move around a bit and there is no "end" to the level, does not make it open world.

The Witcher 3. Yes I said it. Even though its against the law to say anything bad about witcher 3. But as soon as u hop into the water, the controls are utterly useless. I have rage quit at least ten times due to water related deaths
Well said. That's one of Witcher 3's few faults. Swimming in caves was damn awful.
I didn't have a problem swimming, must be difficult for some others then. It was easy as hell to kill a Drowner or a siren underwater with one hit, auto aim crossbow.
Do you play with a controller? honestly I had zero problems controlling geralt underwater on pc
I play with a controller and i dont have any problems with the witchers swimming system
For once I would like to see a list about GOOD water levels.
Too difficult.
Do you need help Falcon? Is Jake treating you ok? because you sounded really angry lol
would be an interesting research!
i remember having fun playing as a fast Zora in Majora's Mask. And some Spyro game on PSX... not sure which one was it tho, but swimming wasn't as boring or tedious.
Pokemon sapphire/alpha sapphire finding Kyogre and the regis
MUMUMUMUist Little Big Planet 3
There was a time when I was terrified of water levels, like in Banjo tooie and mario 64
Worst water level:
Basically all Nintendo games
Well not really I played Mario that had pretty good water for it's time
N L no water levels in Mario sucked idgaf what anyone says they were absolute trash
GTA 5 submarine parts bitch please
that_one_soldier omg I HATED that it was the worst thing to do
+Dovahnuke Try getting all 30 nuclear waste in the ocean for the platinum..that shit takes hours
any gathering mission is the same, but the water makes everything tedious. nothing interesting happens either if you fly a helicopter for spaceship parts or letter scraps, but then at least you get a view to enjoy
Worst one has to be collecting the Toxic/Nuclear waste for 100%.
You forgot we have to pick the fucker up with a bloody helicopter at times. I swear to god it's easier to fly one in Battlefield games than in GTA5.
i know the water temple will be close to #1...
subscribe in my channel and i subscribe in your channel ok
no.
Just report the guy for spam and hope for the best. Never respond to them unless you've verbally whipped up something that can shake their self-esteem.
Water Temple in OoT is easy but the Great Bay Temple in MM is brutally hard XP
I agree with silverrose18 great bay temple was hell, especially the boss.
i love vash'ir in wow...i was a boomkin...and travel form moved at 400% o more! and world pvp was lovely :3
Same! I don't understand why so many people hate it!
i just wish the mount became usable in other zones; even if the speed suffers or something.. i just miss using it.
yeah, totally wasted potential as a mount
you could get a seahorse mount that could be used everywhere, but it was really expensive
the combat under water is wonky but i loved that level too
I mean, yeah, the swimming in BotW was slow, but once I got the full Zora suit, I loved the swimming. Only time in my life where the water level was one of my favorite parts.
2016 video, buddy. It was before the release of the game therefore just speculation.
the first thing that came to mind was ratchet&clank. the first game i played on ps2
I loved that level tbh...
+Triff Mangle Slip Wait there was a bolt there o.o
+Triff Mangle Slip OH MA GAWD. Thanks for the plans after school xD
+Triff Mangle Slip I FOUND IT NOW I HAVE 11 BOLTS XDD
Triff Mangle Slip
yeah true but when u succeed it feels awesome. that whole planet with that level was kinda dark. remember the first planet? that was an amazing first start of the game
Water level in platformer or frozen water with many jumps with soap bars for shoes?
any water level from Crash Bandicoot games! Especially Drain Damage, H2 Oh No, Seashell Shenanigans from Wrath Of The Crotex Dx
MASTERHUNTER666 Nitros everywhere, enemies out of nowhere, the Submarine and they're so long
Aleksi Koivuporras näino!
MASTERHUNTER666 Glad I'm not the only one thinking this
never hated water levels, i love water in real life too... only bad water levels i remember were in the first 3 tomb raider games.. especially that room with frogmen and crocs in luds gate
Lol I completely forgot about veshier. I don't remember getting annoyed by it. The only thing I remember is the dungeon from it as is was a decent one to grind.
vashj'ir wasn't terrible. it was average, but different from the traditional traveling, so it gets flack like Mario Sunshine's water pack.
im in the complete oposite
in my opinion vashj'ir is one of the best zones ever
i hear alot of people complaining about vashj'ir and im like pffff i don't give a fuck im a druid lmao
It's not that water levels are a bad idea, just they have so many issues.
10 Video Game Water Levels That Absolutely ROCK! Next please!
None
I always found the water levels in Mario 64 relaxing. The eel from Jolly Roger Bay was anything but relaxing but other than that I really enjoyed them.
haven't watched yet, I'm thinking the water temple from LoZ
I sure hope somebody picks up the phone because I fucking called it!
did u get that from dbz abridged?
Ye ;)
lol, nice reference
who else had battfield 4 pop in their mind as soon as you read the title
south China Sea where you swim to the control room omg
antjuan payne I was thinking the same thing
I don't understand how they let that slide through quality control. It was really bad. I thought I was the only one who got stuck 50 times and could barely swim forward.
The single player sucked, I only bought it for multiplayer.
antjuan payne Me heh.
im surprised you didn't bring up in the tmnt section how the electric walls are under water... Ill repeat that. electric walls are under water.
toitle steak
I love how i setup these bombs in Retro City Rampage. I felt like being dick.
When he was talking about amnesia I almost thought he just said "not a good game" and I freaked out
Guess im the only 1 liking the water zones in Wow... :)
I actually pretty much loved Vashj'ir.
Dunno why people hate it.. Probably my favourite zone in the whole game. Love the atmosphere, music, everything.
Viper
The music and atmosphere were the selling points for me.
Peter Varadi
Maybe people hated the swimming part, but then again.. the difference is speed is almost the same, just that you can go up and down as well.
Starfals Yeah, and with the mount, you're able to move very fast. It did suck before you got the swimming buff, but since you get it so early on, I don't see the problem. I've actually considered leveling a character from scratch just so I could experience the Cata zones again, and in particular Vashj'ir.
"What could be worse than the water level?"
How about the ice level?
subnatica
Lol yep... the entire game is underwater... but I love playing it on hardcore. Died 4x so far... on the 5th game.
...is a great game!
omg commment of the day lol
Lol Sea Dragon... I didn't die cuz of being attacked.
SUBNAUTICA = the ultimate-best "water level" game... ever!
Dude. Earthworm Jim. I’ve gotten to that level and quit it 10 times in my life.
Games like AC4 only have good water levels.
except the sunken ship levels
Yeah
agreed xD
Awais Khan AC: Black Flag IS a water level
Awais Khan You're kidding, right? I fucking hated the diving zones with the fucking sharks and lampreys and having to tediously swim around because I can't overcome completionist desires and really wanted that fully upgraded Jackdaw so I could easily screw over Hornigold's Schooner. Shit gives me PTSD
Zelda, but i like the water level in twilight princess
I liked that one the least. Honestly the only zelda game with a good water temple was skyward sword.
That is my only favorite water level from the Zelda series.
I like Majora's Mask water level, except for finding the fairy sprites =_=
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time would be the worst water level to me, since in the original it was game over if you used the keys in the wrong order w/out savin prior to doing anything in it.
It is not game over. Most people just forget about the one key in the tower, underneath the plateau.
At 5:23 Falcon briefly channels Charles Nelson Reilly.
I wouldn't call this a level, but any Pokemon game, ESPECIALLY EMERALD, where you have to use surf to go to a certain town. You can't go 4 spaces without running into a wild poke on. It's ridiculous
Well this is awkward...wasn't expecting an honorable mention...
its not a maze or something. Its just a huge pet peeve for many people.
just bring repels
+cooliceage what about the regi water maze or the one in the last team aqua/magma base
ALL water levels suck.
his name is falcon that's why
Subnautica and rayman also kinda lbp2
Crash Bandicoot 3
WARPED
I just wanted to break all the boxes and beat the platinum time, why did you make ten year old me suffer Naughty Dog Why!!
finally some one who understands the struggle i went through
Wrath of Cortex oh god those water levels WHY ARE THEY SO LONG
I call bullshit on the WoW water zone. I find it very well designed, plus you get a very fast underwater mount form the first few quests in the zone. That is actually one of my favourite zones.
It was one of my favorite zones to go through. The alternative was the boring one.
The problem I find in wow underwater zones is judging distances. Often hard to tell if you're behind or ahead of the mob you're attacking or looting.
Hard Rain,left for dead 2?
That map is pretty bad.
Shrine of amana in dark souls 2
not underwater
TheMinority100 doesn't have to be underwater, just water based
shrine of amana looks amazing but those fucking mages
Lol those fuckin mages indeed. God like range and precision
Those mages are fucking annoying.
9:19 7/10- too much water ign
lol
I thought legend of zelda was always open world
oh the youth ...
solokom
solokom no no no I'm young but I play the old zelda games to me they seem free roaming
What about majoras mask
what ever
open world means you are not limited to do tasks in a certain order or that you are not limited in your movment through out the world - the old Zelda games are quite the opposite.
Just because you can move around a bit and there is no "end" to the level, does not make it open world.
Legend of Zelda is on this list....
If not I will eat a teaback
Yee xD
What about the sewer section of Outlast?
Lord Klaw What was wrong with that?
ytmndan Chris goddamn Walker, that was the problem.
That sounds more like a personal problem
Russell Northrop OH JESUS AH NO NOT CHRIS.
Actually Chris Walker sometimes calls people whores. And don't get me started on Eddie Gluskin...
Black water city timed underwater swim level in ratchet and clank. That was very very difficult
