this scene made me cry. i can't see the game, or play it, as i am blind, but the vocal performance of both Nolan North and Frieda wolf are amazing. How Frieda wolf portrayed lylla's disintigration from a confident character into a breathles creature was amazing. Nolan's "useless piece of junk!" was so heartfelt as rocket.
Big pawed bear There must be some way you can play it, no? If it's any comfort, there is no way for anyone to play it now. You can't buy it from telltale, from my knowledge
@@leafyishereisdumbnameakath4259 the issue is game accessibility. screenreaders need to be allowed to access the choice based menus, or the game needs to verbalise the choices, then give time to allow the person to choose. if you imagine, when the eyes see choices, you can make a fast choice, but those who have to listen to all choices before making one are going to be significantly slower. Accessibility in games, even now, is still in its infancy. I think the last of us 2 was the first to really have a go, slowing gameplay down and things, but for us who are totally blind, accessibility in the mainstream gaming sector is still problematic. there are specialist very imersave audio games, which are great now. The good thing about the telltale game was that there were loads of playthroughs, so i listened to all of them, and people put the audio from all choices up on the net too, so i could get a feel for what would happen in all scenarios, but even so, some weren't played out, so you had no idea, for instance, what choice of Rocket's would make Lylla say playfully, ""oh no, did I hit a nerve, "don't call me cute Lylla, I ain't cute," though I did manage to piece together what happens if you tell Lylla you're going out on your own when Lylla tells Rocket, "when i get out of here, I'm going to find that river, and I want you to come with me," if you choose to tell Lylla you're going alone, she'll say "I see," in a depressed tone." I think, if you remain silent, she says, "I, I get it." She's not a happy otter at that point, and that's before all which takes place subsequently. thanks to all those who posted playthroughs and especially to those who posted them without game music. catch those playthroughs, they are even better.
I have never seen anything so sad in a videogame. Maybe this is more an interactive movie than a videogame, but still...
This hit me really hard. Way harder than I thought it would.
I know that Rocket is mean very often, sometimes unreasonably to the point of it having negative effects... but for me, after this it's impossible to not feel sorry for him. It's impossible for me to not want to bring Lylla back.
LYLLA DID IT, SHE SACRIFICED HERSELF SO ROCKET COULD ESCAPE THE LAB, SHE HAD THE DOORS OPEN AND BEGGED ROCKET TO ESCAPE WITHOUT HER SO HE COULD SURVIVE, BUT ROCKET KNEW SHE WILL BE KILLED BUT DID WHAT SHE TOLD HIM TO DO AND LEFT FOR SAFETY, THATS WHY ROCKET WANTED TO BRING LYLLA BACK, LYLLA MEANT SO MUCH TO HIM AND ROCKET WOULD DO ANYTHING TO SEE HER AGAIN

I think the most canonical way of this is not to carry Lylla, since at present the laboratories seem to have been abandoned for years but if Rocket and her only escape it is not clear why the laboratories end like this. A explosion makes more sense. But then the scene of Rocket hitting the ground with the artifact should have made it happen inside the labs, not in the rock pile as that fits more with the decision to escape with her. For a video game that does not focus on the action or the gameplay but on the relationships between the characters and the decisions you make... the developers could have done a much better job.

sorry, i'm writing comments as i listen to this. this is the first playthrough i've heard where lylla says, "rocket, we made it. no other playthrough i've listened to, and i've heard a few, ever gets her to say that.
Haven't seen that in other playthroughs either. It's cause here it was after selecting the choice of saying nothing. No other person doing the playthrough apparently had the heart to stay silent and don't say any last words to Lylla. I can understand why. I even have to wonder how that can that be a choice. Maybe he would stay silent out of the shock and grief...
@@ShadowTheHedgehogCZ i would defenitly say something to lylla if i were able to play the game. i understand there are other times you can stay silent as rocket, one is where Lylla asks you to go with her to the river, and you can remain silent then, and she replies with a very resigned, "i see." I think you can also remain silent during the lab scene where she's about to get the injection. question is though, how on earth is Lylla able to hear Rocket, is it some kind of thought transferance, or have they got a radio link up? or is there a window with a vent in it? i'm asking, as i can't see the animation. this scene really got me big time.
@@ShadowTheHedgehogCZ thinking about your comment, and how rocket seems to feel more than just simple love for Lylla, maybe the enormity of his feelings for her is just too great to put into some last words. maybe all he can do is just hug her, which is what i imagine he is doing outside as he carried her out of the lab, and probably wouldn't want to let go of her until the very end.

@@mega9700 the emotional choice you have to make as Rocket is a hard one. if you play the game, you can make rocket into a hardass if you really want. "i need to make it on my own," and all that. you can really rain on Lyla's parade if you want. but when she does what she does after the lethal injection, doing everything she can to aid Rocket's escape, you have, as rocket, that final choice. Lyla has told you about her dream, do you leave her as she asks, and run, or do you give her the chance to see the sun and the river for the last time? tbh, it's the river and the sun every time, and saying something to Lylla rather than staying silent when she calls out to rocket as she's gasping for breath. btw, i know what happens if you run out without Lylla, and that's horrible too. Peter quill's enquiry, "so what did you do when you escaped that lab," and Rocket's response when he runs out without Lylla, "i waited until it was safe, went in and got lylla,,,, then you saw what i did." is really tough to listen to. the construction of a grave shows that Rocket has human like sensabilities around death, though the only one who could have taught him about that was Lylla, as he clearly buried her shortly after death. all these months on, I still get upset when thinking about this scene, and yes I know it's a video game. i even spoke on the radio about this scene, as they were talking about movies that stirred emotions. to begin with, i thought this was part of guardians of the galaxy movie one or 2, I didn't realise it was a computer game. btw, love Lylla so much.
can i thank you for dumping the music. it showcases the vocal talents of the voice actors amazingly.
there are some unusual sounds during these playthroughs that seem to maen nothing. the sound at 3 mins 2 secs, and again at or 6 mins 57. does that sound mean you made a bad choice?
