The coaches and athletes who refused to go must to be blamed too. But it’s still not fair for this team to go and had to run twice for the country to qualify and then the big guns come and take the spots. Some of these same ladies and men will not make it to Paris. Yet those who win at the trials are the ones to run relay.

We had the three fastest women in the world, 123 in the Olympic 100 meters. We won the gold medal in the women's 200 meters. What happened in the 4X100 Relays ? Baton change disaster !

Pipe down people. Yes the teams could have been better but the top athletes haven't even ran their opening event as yet and not prepared to run fast. The B team athletes need to be more prepared and ready to go. When did we switch our focus from individual to relays?? Keep the emotions out of it for now and things will sort itself out. Our main focus is not relays but getting the younger athletes developed and be ready to take over. Right now after the Big 3 there isn't much left so we need to be looking in that direction of development. The younger ones are still 2-3 years away so we are still leaning on the Big 3 until they're ready? If Jacko goes down we have only Elaine left in the 200m and we still don't know which version we will get.
We have major issues other than relays right now! We still can't find any male suitable athlete to challenge the Americans in the sprints!! We worried about not qualifying for relays then that tells me we are shifting focus.

My two cents is really a question. Are our athletes being paid? If so is that adequate? Does the Puma contract have a provision for relay pool members? Should the JOA have money in their budget? Will paying these athletes not help to ensure that they prepare adequately?

Jamaica has never performed above average in any world relays. I remember watching Elaine,Shellyand two others running the 4x200relay and they messed up terribly. Relay is a technical race accompanied by speed. All we need is a mandatory relay camp. We are too overly sensitive. Let us be encouraging to our athletes. We complain prematurely all the time. Let us give them time. Then we cuss

      1. The WJR from all those 4 girls from CARIFTA a few years ago are from girls were all practicing the relays before and familiar with how to run it.
      2. They were familiar because all of them competed at champs also at the penn relays. All of that required them to practice with each other in their training especially for champs everybody was familiar with each other at the time.
      3. Obviously the time here wouldn't be fast because the girls had no practice prior the race they had to be extremely safe so ofc it won't be an extravagant time remember TT said the American guys had no sub 10 runners but they ran 37.4 because of practice.

To further emphasize the importance of proper baton exchange, harken back to the 1968 Olympics in Mexico. Jamaica broke the world record in the heats of the men's 4X100 meters relay. What happened in finals ? Jamaica did not medal ! Our anchor leg was run by Lenox "Billie" Miller. He had just won the silver medal in the men's 100 meters. He had previously anchored the University of Southern California's sprint relay team to the fastest time in the world. They were not accorded the world record because all members of that team did not come from the same country. Incidentally OJ Simpson ran the 3rd leg on that relay team. OJ handed the baton to Lenox Miller. The point being made here is that by the time of the '68 Olympics Miller anchored two different sprint relay teams that ran the fastest time in the world. So why did Jamaica not get a medal in the finals when Jamaica broke the world record in the heats ? . Practice, practice, practice !!!

I could not say that any better. When I left Jamaica in 1980, I had a Jamaica Amatuer Athletic Association membership, which my mom was instrumental in acquiring for me when I was competing at boys champs during the late 70's. My mom officiated at Boys Champs and Gidson Relays. I was able to use my membership to attend development meets at the stadium on weekends or over at JSA School of Agriculture.
About 10 years ago, I wanted to compete at a masters event at the stadium in Jamaica. I could not believe the politics and red tape I had to go through as a member. I was told that I have to be re-instated and enough to make me just forget about trying to participate. I was like, wow! You would think that I was embarking about a visa permit. Then someone told me... "tell them you attended this school" I could not lie because I attended "country KC".. Knox College while I was a member at JAAA. 😁

am happy yes that they qualify to participate at the Olympic but am hoping they get the chance to make the 4x400 however am not pleased with the team selection am 100% sure there was way better athletes to bring to get better results as this event was so important to the qualification of the Olympic .

Coaches are selfish and the technical team always try to put their athletes on relay team when they're not good. So you practice got to the meet and Maurice Wilson try to put one of his athletes who is no good on the team

  • @matthewramsay1190
    @matthewramsay1190 22 дня назад

    A few things:
    1. The team that ran the 34 in the relays consisted of Dina Asher-Smith, Adeleke, and Julian Alfred. These women train together with the same coach and have not participated in any other relay meet. So it may be a bit of a stretch to credit the meets the USA setup for them achieving that time and having that smooth cohesion.
    2. JAAA can setup similar meets, but if elite athletes are declining or making themselves unavailable for things like the world relay qualifiers, why would we think they would make themselves available for these meets?
    3. And if the elite athletes aren't making themselves available for these meets, would it be beneficial for the JAAA, who has a much tighter wallet than USA, to setup these meets to train people to pass the baton that aren't going to be the elite athletes passing the baton at Worlds?
EDIT: I'm not sure if the USA is doing this, but I guess one solution would be to make it so that anyone who wants to be part of the final relay team has to run in the meets. Which *might* compel elite athletes to partake if they want to increase their gold tally. But the whole country would riot if we don't put the elites in the finals because they didn't show up at these meets so I don't really think this would work.

There are better ways to go in 2024 than mandating relay participation, which wouldn't work anyway. Instead, the JAAA needs to financially incentivize athletes because one's pocketbook dictates any day over national pride. Aren't SAFP, ETH, and SJ multi-millionairesses? Like Lyles was with Team USA, one of them-likely SJ-should've been running with the ladies in Nassau.

Jamaican so-called decision operatives cannot proficiently formulate programs and processes. Moreso, they cannot implement the coordination of resources and personnel! If a proficient dispatch of athletes could not be assembled, decision makers should not have opted to incur the costs of competing without foresight of even "satisficing" payoffs in "utils."

The 2023 400m world champion is definitely not ready because he is still running 46s or 45s when he should be running in and around lower 44 or 43 and this won’t happen hopefully around August in time for the Olympic.

The Jamaican sprinters had represented your COUNTRY'S Qualifying for the Olympics 4 out of 5 and I heard that IOC said that the top time of the teams would be qualified for the 4×400 after JUNE, and not 🚭🚫 practicing so much, but experienced as your raising stars but other countries have HEAVY HITTERS who were Olympians, World Champions, and National Champions and since you are speaking about Americans, we are fierce contenders!!! And yeah, you forgot!! You have beaten us at Penn Relays RECENTLY, REMEMBERED and you boasted, and US Olympic trials are coming up for us to send our BEST of the BEST as other countries!!! Everyone are HUMAN and they could only do their BEST!!!! Nope, I disagree with you because everyone expected the Jamaican sprinters to compete the A list, but those countries were tracked them down with their HEAVY HITTERS so they exceeded their time and there were so much pressure that mistakes were made; but aren't you having Olympics trials for PARIS?!! I expect your HEAVY HITTERS for the Olympics in Paris 2024, but your sprinters as a team had done their best, and the 4×4 men, the men made too many mistakes that they didn't pace themselves but ran out of gas ⛽ that caused them to get a score of 3:05. something to 3:00. something to 3:04. something to be called again after JUNE by the IOC because it's the top score and I don't remember their score beforehand and I think 🤔 that it was better than the second time, but you research that yourself, but I do agree with you about SUPPORTING your athletes regardless if they medalled of not 🚭🚫!!!! I had to defend your athletes and I am an American because that podcast from Jamaica trashed them because they didn't WIN, so I wanted to hear what you have to say about your athletes, but you were better than his podcast... but just remember, you compete with us internationally and invitationals especially the collegiates who are in the international program at the US universities and colleges, including JAMAICA and just remember, there are always Diamonds 💎 in every country regardless of what country that they represented!!!! Thanks for sharing though!!!!
