We delivered a complete transformation of Bedford Town FC’s Eyrie Stadium, replacing the grass field with a world-class, FIFA Quality Pro approved artificial grass pitch.
We designed the subbase and drainage system to accommodate the new surface to deliver the most technologically advanced artificial turf pitch. The extensive overhaul included the installation of an enhanced drainage system, a stone subbase, and a dynamic stone layer to ensure optimal playability and pitch longevity.
The chosen surface was TriPlex 45, laid over preformed shock pad. TriPlex 45 can be played on constantly and drains much faster than natural turf. This superior football turf uses 3 different shaped yarns, for better resilience, durability and softness. This enables the field to perform to FIFA standards and also creates a surface that can last in excess of 10 years. The surface provides a good balance of performance and longevity, which will allow the club to use the field extensively and maximise its usage to the wider community.
Additional works included perimeter kerbing, 360 meters of 1.2-meter-high spectator fencing, and a 2-meter-wide tarmac footpath around all four sides of the pitch, significantly improving both accessibility and the spectator experience.
