When a big political issue happens, more often than not you can find the same thing, or at least something analogous, referenced in an episode and it's more than 40 years old!
I am a theologian and used to thinking about words. I am overcome with the depth of comment in this series. It is a superlative satire, which makes me think, and think ,and think, and yes it is such a superb comment on who we are as people. The writers are almost superhuman. We have to think beyond context, as context comments on who we are, a people, doing our our things disconnected from the life of God.
@@johnmccrossan9376 Thank you for your reply. I actually do not go to church, and so am not connected to any denomination. Nothing against church, except to say as long as the church declares that Jesus Christ is Lord in the fullest sense (Romans 10: 9) then that make me happy.
@@malcolmabram2957 OK but that does raise a question as to why a theologan doesn't attend communal worship. Surely we should seek to emulate the apostles and Christ himself as much as possible? Jesus commanded Peter in the gospel of John to establish a church so by extension doesn't he command us to attend one?
This is what the uk always has been. We joined the common market to destroy any possibility of a United States of Europe. Why do you think the uk government supported such a quick expansion of countries from 6 to 28? It was dumb to join in the first place and it was dumb to leave in the way we did. The middle class attitudes towards the poor and foreigners hasn’t changed since the fall of Rome. Also this was first broadcast well before Brexit.
@@colinstock325 Hear hear. Perfectly stated. Except 'attitudes' is a plural noun, not singular; haven't. I am very well aware of how far I can go forth and multiply off a very short pier :) There is only one true driver behind all of this. If anyone still believes politics is the driving force in any country, they really haven't been paying attention. Some people believe. Americans are great believers, for example.
1:17 “Listen, Humble Vessel,” oh my god that’s a beautiful insult.
I know :)) I laughed so hard at his sarcasm.
OMG. That was written as comedy, and yet is so accurate! Even today that all rings so true.

After Brexit this is what the UK has become. An remote island in the sea of wealth that they can no longer enjoy.
