To answer your question, the previous episode was a mid-season finale, which is why the showrunners placed this filler episode after it. Chloe probably became a detective thanks to this case. As always, Amenadiel's necklace plays an important part in this story.
I never got why people called this a filler episode. It gives a lot of backstory to things, and some answers to lingering questions I had from the previous season. Not important questions, but still.
Chloe appearing had two purposes: 1) showing how their paths crossing was in play for some time before present. 2) that Lucifer and Amenadiel's celestial mucking about, may have been the impetus for Chloe to become a detective as her gut sense paid off with the killer's confession. Oh and it is entirely plausible Chloe would not recall Amenadiel 5 years later when she had a short encounter with him while manning the customer complaint desk at a police station - where literally hundreds of faces every day have whackadoo stories.... (we recall significant events, but many, many mundane ones get left in the mental dustbin)
Is so much fun to watch your reactions. I personally enjoyed the "filler" episodes in this show because I found some interesting pieces of some puzzles in each of them. I loved seeing how Lucifer ended up in LA and I also enjoyed seeing a liitle of Chloe & Dan's past.
I like this episode, lightens things up a little before heading back into the heavy angst of season 3, and fills in details of backstory that we'd only had hints of before.
Definitely interesting timing for this episode in that after the midseason finale aired, the only thing any fan cared about was Caine and the producers were like “nah, wait another week” lol. FYI this episode was the last one that was filmed during season two that was added for this one. It ironically was not filmed in the city of angels (1st and 2nd season were filmed in Vancouver)
I thought it was nice to see a little of Chloe and Dan as a married couple, how Taco Tuesdays originated: by her being ok with his focus on work at first and covering for him towards Trixie. But we already know how that s going to end. I found it an interesting choice by the writers to let him feel her presence in the fight club, quite a surprise, as he does not show any similar reaction when they meet in ep1 - apart from asking her whether they met before (so it was maybe not just because of her in the movie?).
I wouldn't be surpirsed if all the Lt Pierce episodes were filmed together, based on Tom Wellings advalibility. This was done to answer the back story question and to fill in the space...and to keep the actors busy.,
@@katherinelinkous223I was just thinking the same. That makes sense. Though, I think it's more to do with the uh... M.O. for the original deed. Trying not to give too much away lol.
This was when Lucifer was on Fox and their were occasional hiatus issues, religious protesting, and special programming that interrupted the show. Perhaps this is also when Chloe's actress got pregnant? Many factors involved here, so not really the showrunners issue
Interacted with Father at the end of 1st season, didn't he? At least in "returning to life in response to prayer with vague conditions" way. And the car with R meaning reverse rather than really fast seems to be the very same Corvette he used later (with Fall1N1 number plate - probably legalized after initially "borrowing" it)
I don't consider episodes that give background information about the main characters as filler. People who claim an episode is a filler that has actual information about the main characters are most likely a mouth-breather. They probably also eat their steak well-done. They also will most certainly go to the special hell.
I agree that the “filler” episode provided very useful context and is well worth watching (and fun!). My complaint is the placement of it after such a dramatic reveal of Cain and the anticipation of learning more behind his appearance in the storyline.
The placement was because it was a holiday special. The Cain reveal was the mid-season cliffhanger. It didn't resolve until the season restarted, but they threw in a fun episode for New Years (since you don't want to do a Christmas special in a show where the devil is a hero)
Watching this episode reminds me…you should really watch episode 25 ‘Boo Normal’ between episodes 15 & 16. It is one of two bonus episodes at the end of season 3 that actually gives us information but if you watch it after #24 (the season finale), you will be disappointed and left wanting…
If you didn't like this break between the active story. Then you won't like it between seasons. Especially it being 2. 1 of which is without spoilig is kinda like this. Blame the cliffhangers and momentum of the story that starts at episode 16
(A comment for your RUclips alg.... Joking tone here:) Guess... Wrong... Guess... I think that people vastly overestimate the human capacity to remember strangers from a single interaction. Chloe was working the desk at the police precinct so she likely met hundreds of people that she would never see again. I've got a few years of retail experience under my belt and I can attest to the fact that aside from a few regular customers the vast majority of the others kind of blur together.

And the beginning of Taco Tuesdays with Trixie!
It was interesting seeing Maze's reaction to cutting off Lucifer's wings.
Yeah you noticed too how Lucifer "sensed" Chloe in that fight Club ( Future Lux)...
This episode was so fun to watch 😀

They moved to LA for season 2. But some season 2 episodes were filmed during season 1. Everything with the police office from season 2 is in LA.

I don't think that he felt her presence but since most girls react to him he found it strange that this woman didn't react and just walked by.
I think the only reason to show Chloe in this episode was showing that god had their lives intertwined even before they noticed.
As fillers go, I thought this one was a lot of fun. Btw, Chloe had never met Amenediel before. Amen. talked to her mother.

The training song was in Karate Kid
It was supposed to be in Rocky 3, but Stallone passed on it in favour of Eye Of The Tiger
Biblically Cain has two passages. He cannot farm or raise farm animals. The community cannot harm him.
Oh! I didn't know about the farming. Does this mean in a future episode his affinity for his collection? Not to give away any spoilers.

Lauren German doesn't have kids. You might be thinking of Lesley Ann Brandt.
Not gonna lie, my mind went elsewhere when you said let's get filled up and menage a trois so close together.

Strength - I'll give the consonants 7 to 1 over the vowel.
Why is Cane here now? Cuz we needed a villain for season 3. 😆
