Nathan in that show is genuinely awkward and doesn't know how to interact with people or what they really want-as a result he is very lonely which he plays up. This confusion informs the stunts he plans that would theoretically help businesses-which are fake.
When i say "fake" I don't mean that Nathan does not actually do them. *He very much does*. What I mean is that if Nathan genuinely wanted to give the businesses he helps serious advice-he wouldn't propose 90% of the schemes he does. The fake is in the schemes which serve a purpose-to entertain.
It parallels 6arakin because he 100% genuinely believes that he's has good as he says he is, that his rank matters, and that he is the big cheese of mortal kombat. He is also 100% genuine in his investment of the game and his emotions(toxicity) that comes out of it. The "fake" or the stuff he does for the publicity/the parts he plays up is the dumb-ass ruleset because he knows that people want to beat him at his own game despite the fact he does not stand by them. His toxicity which is also played up a bit attracts crowds who want to see a guy who knows only 2 and a half kenshi combos and is extremely rude towards his opponent lose. Especially to skilled players.
