trust me, any real pool player could tell. your stance, your bridge, the shakiness of shots, and how you place the ball for many shots because you played with terrible cue ball control.
"The Colour of Funny". Good effort with the short movie. It is what it is and I enjoyed it! Ignore the haters who have never had the motivation or know how to put this together. 🤫
Agreed, it is actually VERY FUNNY how bent out of shape ppl are that this wasn't some epic showpiece of pool hustling. Just a college short film made by kids, in all reality.
@TMR. I appreciate the time and dedication it takes to make even the simplest short film. However, as someone whose played a lot of pool and made a few shorts, you could've chosen shots that make to the path of the balls a bit more ambiguous. In something as important as the ball order in 9 ball, it seems like a bit more attention to detail would serve you better, or a different game. Furthermore, where's the hustle? I saw a few straight up bets, no hustle.
Yes it was a learning process for sure. Looking back almost 10 years later, there was a lot more that could have been done in many avenues of the production. At the time we were college kids experimenting with the medium. It is somewhat cringe-worthy for us even.
@@TMRproductionstudios You know what's funny, less than a minute after I posted that comment I saw the date on the video. Instantly I had a Nam-style flashback of my first short, using ketchup as blood and overdubbing videogame gun shots in my friend's backyard. I withdraw all objections and look forward to watching your newer videos.
WTF did I just even watch? Oh well, there's 12 minutes of my life that I'll never get back. I'm not going to berate this film because I have seen a hell of a lot worse, but I won't exactly be expecting any of these guys to be appearing at Oscar awards nights any time soon.
Poorly made! Look at bridge hand position when full body shots, then look at bridge hand position when shots just show the hand! Totally different position, totally different hand!! As a long time hustler and gambler, I spotted this within the first 3 shots! Room looks nice though...
Yes this was poorly made, on NO budget. This was a college film that we did over a decade ago while we still learning numerous things. It's actually kind of cool that you noticed that, most don't as we had to employ actor switch in order to allow a more skilled player to do some shooting. In fact there are multiple shots where we had to do multiple switches in one continuous shot. This technique is used, in a MUCH better fashion, by Hollywood feature films. Stunt actors, etc.
@@TMRproductionstudios It's a cool short, It is obvious that you guys like pool and are having fun making movies! What is not to like? Don't let the haters get you down. I was watching an Earl Strickland match and commentators were saying "the old guy isn't that good" Yeah a World Champion is not that good.
Ah yes, thank you. Understanding this is just a fun short film, not a trick shot real for a pro. Something to experiment with steady cam and shots where actor switches are employed.
I’ve watched the video and read all comments and replies. I would be interested is seeing a remake showing what you’ve learned since your first endeavour. 👍
love the effort. Didn't see much hustling though. The move would have been to have the guy who lost first get mad and offer to bet a thousand with the counter man and the counter man "ducks" him with an excuse and the guy in the black takes the bet and gets drilled because the guy in the hat is actually the best player.
The that would've been a better script lol this isn't even a hustle lol and when someone missed the ball they MISSED badly..........like WRONG side of ball badly lol I'm baffled 😕 and why do I have the feeling whoever wasn't playing at the table was also the camera man hahahaha
These players are not bad players. They need to know a few other things regarding pool I see there mistakes there making. I realize this movie clip was about Pool hustling. But seriously with the errors of there shooting of Pool. And them playing in a tournament. They would never make it to the finals in pool tournament. As you miss a shot with some in these pool tournaments. You would loose as the other player would run the table. 👍👍🇺🇸🎱
Hey guys I just watched the film and the Bison Billiards caught my attention I grew up on the Eastside of Buffalo Broadway Fillmore area back in the day I should have known it was in that particular area when I saw the snow on the ground starting to film I checked it out you guys are out in Williamsville area or maybe now out by Orchard Park I'm not sure I I live down in Florida but that was really great to see and yeah you guys did a great job. I used to shoot at the Hippodrome when and used to be downtown on Main Street near the bus station and there was some other places downtown old school to the max
@rhocat362 Wow, that is so good to hear . Hippodrome on main street one floor up or was it the new location outside of town. I shot with him one time at Hollywood billiards back in the day.
I am speechless.. Guess it could have been good if several parts were not filmed in the dark, or washed out by sunlight.. The first 2 players looked like beginners with the weak breaks and bridges.. Hoping this was a parody/comedy..
Skinny kid that plays last at least has a little game. First two guys play absolutely horrific. And I don't know whether pathetic or laughable is the best word to describe the "tough guy" in this short film which offers nothing that could be described as entertainment.
People dog the play...I dog the feel. The who thing has a Clerks vibe and was fun. A bit more dialogue would have been fun. The walk outside and smoke felt like a nod to Silent Bob.
I hate to see pool movies where it is obvious that the actors don’t even play pool. You can instantly tell by their bridge, stroke, stance, etc…It’s so hard to watch and take serious.
You guys changed the leave on the 5 in the second rack played to make it easier whn the bald guys fudged the previous shot and left it hard. Noty cool to anyone who knoes the game. Just reshoot the shot and edit it in. Good short film. Hopefully you'll get better.
I like the kid behind the counter, he looks tobe most fluid in his movements, but looks like he stiffens up when he it put shooting the Q close to the rail. Also his qball control is pretty good but he seems like he doubts himself or is unsure about how to get onto the next at times. If so i got some good drills for both.
Can someone give me the time mark when the hustle starts? I watched the whole thing and all I saw was a few unremarkable racks of nine ball. The final shot was both unremarkable and unrealistic.
Not a bad film, just shoulda had a pool player choreograph the thing so it made sense to the pool players too. Appreciate the effort and I think the pool gods of today ought to too.
Very funny .. That's not hustler.... How come the 8 ball and 9 ball hanging near the middle pockets that impossible according you your previous position... You put it there so that you can shot a trick shot.. That bullshit
Technically well done (especially title sequence). Actors need to work on delivering lines more naturally. Intonation mistakes in dialog very distracting.
theres always somebody that talk shit about the way thy play. guess yall dont know the difference between hustling and sharking. before yall give tips...learn that first. there is a reason they were doing certain things at certain times...
He did touch the 4 ball with his bridge hand good eye but it didn't impede the cue ball. I'm most cases you either leave it or move it back at the opponents discretion.
Yea, an older film from college. Really just experimenting in film. Clearly not trying for the next Oscar with this one! Thanks for watching! Hope it was at least entertaining!
I am assuming that the term small time refers to pool players abilities. I saw no hustle, no skill, no understanding of the game in this video. Sorry just my humble opinion.
The level of difficult shots made is considered against the rank amateur of the stroke, q-ball control/positioning, their hand bridge abilities and even the distances of their bridge hand to the Cue's tip and more factors... The display of when and where the Q-ball stops in relation to just how far from that position the Q-ball is from where it was in the next frame means they are not even good at re-setting up after missing what was supposed to be a pocketed following shot. Then there is the... Bet it all one one game crap. No pool player worth a tinkers dam would be so dumb, especially not the one doing the hustle. This is not even a decent video of a horribly poor hustle. (These guys could be spotted a mile away)
A hustle would have been if the first guy that got beat had been working with the guy that beat him. He tanks the 2 games and then the guy he is working with tanks 2 games to the new guy. Then the guy sitting acts all upset about the jokes on his behalf and challenges the new guy... betting 3 or 4 times as much. Then he runs out several tables in a row.

Some cheating going on there, he must be moving balls with his hand. Balls move to easier positions without being hit, now that's a hustle.
