I have always worked with medium yarn and nothing smaller than a4.5, it works better for me and I've made lots of stuff like Granny squares and baby blankets.

Might not be a DC but it works the same.

Those are NOT DC stitches. They are either a modified, ELONGATED DC - OR a modified TR. But they are NOT DC. It's too bad that inexperienced crocheters will learn these WRONG and INCORRECT stitches.

@@donnamoreau8998 English names are simply one step away. What we call s slip stith - they call Single Crochet. What we call Single Crochet, they call Double Crochet. One so on and so forth. No - the above creocheter adds an extra step to elongate a DC stitch. Either that - or it's a modified Triple/Treble Crochet stitch. I've been crocheting for 70 years - was taught by my Grandmother who learned from Irish nuns - back in the day when Irish Crochet was a "thing" . . . I have so many books on crochet and knitting stitches - both written and diagrammatical - from all over the world. And I've never seen anything like this referred to as a DC.

@@wandamundy1759 the person could also invented the stitch and named it as she sees fit. Just because it doesnt fit in a mold it doesnt mean its incorrect
