Interesting. In English there is also a verb that is obviously cognate with the Swedish verb tro: In English it's "trow", which is now considered archaic/obsolete. It means "believe". You can find it used once in the King James Bible: "Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not." - and Shakespeare used it quite often "I trow this is his house."

This case can be cofusing of course and "tycka om" basically derives from this.

Hej. You are correct, when talking about future tense (which this video was not about), then yeah, "ska" is a more certain expression. I stopped writing "skall" about ten years ago or so. I don't remember exactly, when I did it but it looks more and more like something you would choose to write in a book with a slightly stricter language.
om = if; could also mean re- as in (om)tolkning = (re)interpretation, etc. som = as / like (The English like synonym _likt_ has a slightly more narrow usage.)
So you use "Tro" When you Think it's a good book but haven't read. (As an Example) But what if you HAVE read the book. I Heard it's not Tro or Tycka but What is it?

So.. Tro = trust that something is right, Tycka = I reckon/my opinion, Tänka = an active thought in your head. Right? Phew, plus more exceptions too.. haha

Duolingo translates Tänka as "think" but also "intend".
