Cory really nailed the spirit of paranoia for me, with the senseless killing of her teammates whenever a reasonable opportunity presented itself. Had me laughing quite a bit.
Yes! While I do love seeing Jacob in various sketches, I just don't think he gets the atmosphere of Paranoia. Part of the game is that you have to trust the team at the same time not trusting any of them. Someone's or something in Alpha Complex is always going to knife your back, that's why the slogan is "trust no one and keep your laser handy." Cory is the mix up they need to truly get into the spirit of the game.
@@jackielinde7568 I love Jacob in this, because he's actually attached to his little dinosaur character, which is the complete wrong way to approach Paranoia. But it also means that he's constantly anxious and afraid of terrible things happening to him, allowing Dale to really put the screws to him.
Cori was amazing in Cam's campaign and she's amazing here too. "I have a character and I'm going to do exactly what I feel they want to do and god help anyone who gets in my way friend or foe." Her addition really helps show off how Paranoia should be played.
Winterpandacookies cheers, it sounded kinda like the one thing that could actually perma-kill some, aside from dieing 6+ times, btw, how do you get move clones? Beej needs them.

Yellow is cool! Field duty troubleshooters are typically red and orange, so I'm guessing that that's the bulk of what you're getting this series. @@MrMarclax I mean, PAX West is over by next week and next week's Dice Friends is a special prerecord of After the Flood since everyone except Alex and Paul are at PAX, so he will deffo be back the next time they play.
I'm assuming this RPG system involves not telling a lot of information but that makes it hard to watch because I don't understand the reasoning behind people's actions (eg Blake constantly wanting to die). I don't want to buy the rulebook of a game I don't want to play just to understand what's going on.
There's a lot of information privately shared between the GM & individual players, because typically, each character is part of a secret society (which are illegal in Alpha Complex) that gives them secret goals. Also, the game is set up to generally encourage an every-troubleshooter-for-themself attitude, so players will often share only what's necessary. For some people, the chaos & the frequent twists caused by this system are what make the game enjoyable. That said, I agree that it would be nice if they could explain a little more to the viewers. As to Blake dying, the first two are simple: Blake entered an area without authorization, which is considered treason, and treason is punishable by death. Not killing traitors is also treason. Therefore, Blake died.
If it weren't as intentionally chaotic of a game, I would understand this complaint a lot better. Most RPGs do not hinge on this factor so strongly, even the more cinematic and "fudgy" ones. Part of the intentional atmosphere of Paranoia is that everyone behaves oddly and you're not sure exactly why. Hence the name. It's understandable that not everyone likes this game, and many people prefer it in smaller doses. That makes perfect sense. But if you do find yourself in the mood to play this game, you'll find that it loses most of its appeal when no one's motives are mysterious.

It probably helps that she's potentially part of a human-hating secret society. Like all robots are.
Dale’s soothing really adds to the atmosphere that Paranoia sets
'If it's a big shaft then hey, I'm willing to take the consequences' you and me both Ian
I have to say, watching Blake-R dying that many times in a session made my anxiety go up.
Winterpandacookies do you know what re-education is in game terms?
@@The_Murder_Party IIRC re-education involves putting a discontented citizen through treatment so that they become more obidient to the Computer.
Winterpandacookies so... in game terms? It doesn’t change much? Just a little RP stuff?
@@The_Murder_Party Yeah, it's pretty much the same.

2:21:05 should go into the highlight reel
After 4 episodes I finally nailed it. This game is what Black Mirror would be if it was a British comedy show.
Poor Blake is only trying to help. And in true Paranoia fashion, the robot murders everyone.
It's not murder if Friend Computer ordains it. It is merely witnessing traitors.
I never had a game where that didn't happen. Especially when the robot was the medical officer.
