I think your comment of his eyes is the key point to Taemin's live performances. Fans often comment how idols have a duality in their personalities on and off the stage (which I think should be true for every performer), but I think Taemin is the only one who truly looks like a completely different person because of the intensity in his eyes. His face is set in such a way that he doesnt even look like himself anymore which I think is insane. Thanks for the reaction!

Like obviously, his dancers aren't just normal dancers either, they all really dance well no joking, especially when there is Santa and Riki, hope to see Riki dance with them too
Taemin has always been known for saving his energy for where it counts the most -- for live performances and for filming MVs -- dance practices for him are literally dance practices, so he is just allowing himself to feel the dance and get in the groove. He is less worried about being spot on exact, and more about showing everyone the feel of the choreography and the story behind the dance. As you noticed, when you watched the live performance it has a whole new vibe and you can see how much of an expert he is. Seeing as he is also singing live almost 100% of the time while performing for 3+ hours, you will notice moments where he conserves his energy, only to release it full out during the most intense parts of the dance or performance. He has became known as the best in the industry for a reason. What is even more impressive about Taemin's dancing is the fact that he does it all while singing live and maintains stable vocals the whole time, without ever sounding out of breath or out of tune, etc. So, as you discovered, what you are seeing in the dance practice may not be exactly what you see when you watch the MV or a live performance. Believe it or not, what you just saw in his "Famous" dance practice video, isn't even Taemin at full power. LOL To get the full experience and to really see why Taemin is considered one of the best dancers and performers in the world, you really have to see him perform live. :D Live is where all the members of SHINee really shine.

I was lucky enough to see super m in San Diego CA in 2020. When taemin came out and performed his solo to danger the crowd went bananas. I love Famous choreography and Taemin’s Japanese dancers are on another level. To watch them perform with him the whole concert was an amazing experience. It’s a given that Taemin would go much harder with his dancing on concerts, he is an unmatched performer, but just the fact that this Famous performance is in the encore section of his concert, so basically after 2 hours of dancing and singing gives you perfect idea of how an amazing and powerful performer he is. I mean his artistry and stamina is out of this world. Thanks so much for your detailed reaction!
With Taemin there are always so many details to analyze. He is a very atypical dancer and different from the ordinary. that is why he is so unique in everything. So far he is the only soloist that offers a lot of versatility and variety in terms of movements and ways of dancing or performing a dance. smoothness, swiftness, powerful, sharpness. Taemin is sooo INTENSE when on stage, yet on Instagram or behind the sciences he's nice, smiles a lot, laughs. Santa, is the dancer in the stripe shirt, who is an international Korean competitive dancer. He can act too. If Taemin ever has to slow down in dancing, he has a place in Kdrama as well. Props to the ladies and their dancing. So many Kpop women dancers like to move their hips a lot, but Taemin's dancers are just as sharp and intense as Tae is. Thanks for the analysis.

Watching the analysis I realized I've kind of underappreciated this choreo. I mean I've watched both the dance practice and performances and never really caught how truly intricate it is.
famous has always been my favourite taemin choreography. i always found every second of the dance practice fascinating lol. it feels the most like his style to me even though i wouldn't rank the song itself that highly amongst his titles... god it's nice to see it get recognition and to know what it is making it so good! :')

Nice analysis! Would love to see you reacting more to the choreographer Rikimaru! (You can find his channel on RUclips). This choreo is one of my favorites out of his works because it is so unique and fresh in its style which has his own signature (e.g. the snake-inspired hand movement) , but also clearly tailored for the artist, for example by incorporating popping which I understand is one of Taemin's strong suits. Btw Rikimaru himself is also in a pop group & he is currently participating in a boy group survival show. Then there's his intro performance for MAMA 2020. Ramp it up by 85% more for lives. As his Japanese backup dancers have said in the past, "he's a monster on stage". No one can pop like him. He started as a self-taught street dancer. He can also do tutting and, as you can see here, his isolations are CLEAN, and he can switch from popping/locking and isolations to moving like liquid silver in a millisecond. I've never seen anyone as fluid as him, or have the insane body control like him. He's very detail-oriented which makes his performances even more intense. He extends his dancing all the way through his body to his very fingertips. This is why he is my favorite dancer/soloist in Kpop and why SHINee is my favorite group. They are all insanely talented.
