It seems to do a bunch of everything. The experiences of the past 20 years have shown that this is never a good sign. It seems very unfocused and arbitrary when it comes to its core-identity. On the one hand, you have a story with a heavily limited cast of characters (no editor whatsoever!), but then the game is apparently a "do whatever" type of game. Then why restrict people in the characters and weapons they can play with each? The story is likely not going to be one, where they couldnt have just went for the "Generic title for main character"-approach and instead NEED a named person.
Ghost of tsushima has this interesting leveling system, where you learn by watching and you just have to aquire the techniques to be able to beat certain bosses. You don't have an xp bar per say. I definitely appreciate the non linear way of having your character get better at things. People teach you stuff, you train to hone the skills and simply improve. No hard lock on skills.

It’s because US patent law puts it on the patent holders to enforce and if a court decides it’s invalid they remove it. I don’t see how they could claim any flying mount, that’s overly broad and so many fantasy novels and other creative works (Greek Pegasus) show the idea a common concept not patentable, would helicopters or planes count and if not why not? That’s how wild it would get imo but I’m not a patent lawyer 🤷♂️
This games seems like a good mix of The Witcher, Assassin's Creed, Botw, and possibly some Dark Souls, yet I'm not even sure what to compare all those crazy grappling moves too. I'm definitely all for it though.
Looking at minimum specs as well, this will run on handhelds which will be insane. Being able to take a game of this scale on the go with me will blow my mind.

@IdyllicMullet My expectation as someone who played BDO is the gameplay will be fun, and if you like the gameplay you should have fun, but it may disappoint people as a story-focused/single-player narrative game, that's the big question mark, because while I don't think BDO ever had truly BAD writing, it was very samey and mediocre, so doing a whole singleplayer game based around a central character's story... yeah, it's just a risky bet, kind of, not in their wheelhouse so to speak. Then again, you compare it to other open world games with awful stories like whatever the heck Assassin's Creed has been doing lately, and... well, that's the worst it can be, really, still better than other big-name and big-budget open world games, just not the best story of all time.

I haven’t watched wrestling since like 2010. Nobody ever comments on the wrestling moves 😅. The chokeslam, RKO, and side suplex sequence at the 4:00 mark, sparked my interest. I just put down Shadow of War, if that game had more slams and throws I would’ve liked it even more. And that’s a 9/10 game for me.

The combat reminds of street fighter just a bit, the way the hit impacts do the quick pause effect. Its like you're actually doing damage 🔥🔥🔥 so ready to get adjusted to the combos
I would like to have seen some more npc conversations, or mission with npcs og something in the city so I could see how live in the world is. I don't think I have a clear Enough View on that. but I hope to see some more that kind of stuff Before the Game launches

I like being able to go wherever I want and possibly get strong gear early. In games like Fallout 3 if you know where your dad is, you can go straight to him which most first-time players won't do. Not sure how scaling works in this game. Will it scale as you level up or will areas further out be harder? So Crimson Desert is an area in this game. Of course. Why is Pokémon trying to patent everything? Other games outside Nintendo have flying mounts so this patent should not be allowed.
They said something in the progression video to the extent that there are no "levels" for the main characters, you just get new skills and better gear, so it seems fair to assume from that that the world isn't scaled either.
Can we please talk about the AMAZING horse physics, it's the single best horse physics in a game over ever seen. For those of you not familiar go watch some videos on how horses move, trot, gallop, and then watch this again, it's INCREDIBLE. GREAT video Gamers x, but is that anything new? 👏🏼 Edit: fixed an auto incorrect error.
For the time being rdr2 holds the trophy for best horse physics. They shit, eat, react to predators, gunfire and they sweat in heat, and froth after galloping.

yeah, BDO is the only MMO I've played for a while, and it has some really engaging quests and moments, I still remember that quest with swiming to the distant shore, on a boat, where map suddenly stoped working, it was a little bit tedious but at the same time it gave so much real adventure vibe that many single-player action games are not able to deliver
Bro I'm beyond hyped knowing this game was made with an upgraded version of BDOs game engine! This is going to be absolutely unreal. The combat especially. BDOs combat was so fun that I spent hundreds if not thousands of hours happily grinding away simply because the combat was that enjoyable. And that was an MMO, where the Devs are heavily constrained due to things like desync, AI complexity capping, physics limitations, etc. But from what Crimson Desert has shown, all of that has changed. Attacks have more weight, enemies aren't as simple, and it'll likely be a lot smoother. Not to forget the world traversal?! Flying?! Climbing that seems to exceed even Assassin's Creed?! Brother, all this game needs to do is match BDO but in singleplayer form and it'll succeed. What it looks like it's going to do is exceed that by a long shot. I haven't spent more than £25 on a game in YEARS, but I'm almost definitely paying full price for this. Bit sad life skills are taking a bit of a back seat, as the player run economy was so fun; setting up worker nodes, manufacturing lines, trading across cities, etc, but tbh I'm fine with that if they deliver enough elsewhere.

I like being able to go wherever I want and possibly get strong gear early. In games like Fallout 3 if you know where your dad is, you can go straight to him which most first-time players won't do. Not sure how scaling works in this game. Will it scale as you level up or will areas further out be harder?
So Crimson Desert is an area in this game. Of course.
Why is Pokémon trying to patent everything? Other games outside Nintendo have flying mounts so this patent should not be allowed.
They said something in the progression video to the extent that there are no "levels" for the main characters, you just get new skills and better gear, so it seems fair to assume from that that the world isn't scaled either.
PS3 had a launch game like 20 years ago called Lair where you flew dragons.

Can we please talk about the AMAZING horse physics, it's the single best horse physics in a game over ever seen. For those of you not familiar go watch some videos on how horses move, trot, gallop, and then watch this again, it's INCREDIBLE.

For the time being rdr2 holds the trophy for best horse physics. They shit, eat, react to predators, gunfire and they sweat in heat, and froth after galloping.
@efish5789none of what you just listed at all relates to the physical movement of a horse which is what the comment was about. The movements of the horses in this look far superior to RDR2
@Mo_altaas of right now I'd have to agree and before that it was RDR 1. Based off what we're seeing though that could be changing soon. We shall see.

yeah, BDO is the only MMO I've played for a while, and it has some really engaging quests and moments, I still remember that quest with swiming to the distant shore, on a boat, where map suddenly stoped working, it was a little bit tedious but at the same time it gave so much real adventure vibe that many single-player action games are not able to deliver
Bro I'm beyond hyped knowing this game was made with an upgraded version of BDOs game engine! This is going to be absolutely unreal.
The combat especially. BDOs combat was so fun that I spent hundreds if not thousands of hours happily grinding away simply because the combat was that enjoyable.
And that was an MMO, where the Devs are heavily constrained due to things like desync, AI complexity capping, physics limitations, etc.
But from what Crimson Desert has shown, all of that has changed. Attacks have more weight, enemies aren't as simple, and it'll likely be a lot smoother.
Not to forget the world traversal?! Flying?! Climbing that seems to exceed even Assassin's Creed?!
Brother, all this game needs to do is match BDO but in singleplayer form and it'll succeed.
What it looks like it's going to do is exceed that by a long shot.
I haven't spent more than £25 on a game in YEARS, but I'm almost definitely paying full price for this.
Bit sad life skills are taking a bit of a back seat, as the player run economy was so fun; setting up worker nodes, manufacturing lines, trading across cities, etc, but tbh I'm fine with that if they deliver enough elsewhere.

for those that might want a taste, play black desert ( MMORPG, from pearl abyss also) until this releases, to get an idea of what to expect, graphics, combat.. been playing this game for a long time, i love it and i cant wait for this game ever since it was announced
