Carbon tax impact on economy is easy to calculate; Carbon tax impact to Canadian climate is highly uncertain because climate issue is global issue and Canada's 1.6% global emission would have little impact to the climate as compared to what China emits.

Your argument is nonsensical. So no countries that have lower emissions than China should do anything about climate change even though when you add up all the emissions from these countries the total is greater than china’s. That’s just silly. If they followed the same logic, nothing would have been done about the hole in the ozone and that thankfully is almost fully repaired.
@@drwzeryour logic is juvenile. The country producing the greatest amount of fluorocarbons had to reduce its emissions before the ozone issue could begin to repair itself. Moreso the reduction in fluorocarbon production did not require excessive taxation and cutting back on vital energy production.

The Sun has a significant role to play in earth's climate ( and the solar system itself) although this is downplayed by the mainstream reports on the matter.
Atmospheric electricity has been shown to affect weather patterns and rainfall. Solar cycle 25 is especially active of late.
The climate will change no matter what is collected in taxes and distributed to the wealthy advocates of its collection.

It’s what I concluded years ago, no matter what we do to reduce our emissions it won’t have any real impact on global emissions due to our very small carbon footprint (1.7%) on the global total.

The best way to discourage the consumption of anything is to make it more expensive. The carbon tax is designed to make the use of fossil fuel more expensive, & to incentivize the use of alternative sources of energy. The Conservative Party is wholly owned by the Oil & Gas industry. They are acting as merchants of doubt for this industry. It’s the same strategy used by Big Tobacco when we were debating whether cigarettes caused cancer.
