Because Tom got flustered when they asked what Jude can’t do, here is what he can’t do:
- he doesn’t understand how to operate in small spaces when under pressure, he often gets into tough situations because his touch lets him down when he is pressed and gets bailed out because he is good in duels. Tom is right here, he isn’t good at picking the ball up from deep.
- he can’t dictate tempo in the way Pedri, Gundo, VERRATTI, Kroos are able to. I remember he had

I have to be honest, he was an average performer against France at the world Cup. Tchouameni and Rabiot dominated him. He's too much of a rock and roll number 8 midfielder for me right now. He certainly doesn't have the acumen or astute nature to play as a 6 or deeper CM

Kroos over Bellingham, but Bellingham is clear of Verratti, especially based on last season. Rice deserves a mention but not a spot and Pedri is easily one of the best midfielders in the world. Bernardo Silva did not have a good season in the prem, only in the UCL. As sensational a player Modric is, he is surely not in the top 10 as of now, he had an average LaLiga performance, and is clearly showing his age. Bruno is a must for me.
Some honourable mentions for Aleix Garcia, Parejo and Szoboszlai. Maybe even Jonas Hoffman who has been immense in the bundesliga

Overrating Odegard is so weird to the level where Bruno comparisons don't stand. Bruno Fernandes had record breaking goalscoring seasons, last season competed with Kdb on every metric of chance creation, topping some, scored one more than Kdb in the PL. He didn't have the striker to back it with assists. If Theo(who's probably only seen arsenal and England play) goes by Odergaard scoring most goals as a 10, then he should be above Kdb too.

@@jackwebb987 I don't think so, he obviously drops down whenever needed to and progress the ball, but so does Bruno. They're respectively both teams primary creators and best progressor, Ode is a much better carrier, Bruno is a much better passer. Both receive high alot too, there was a comparison graph between Kdb and these three by a good acc and they're incredibly similar, more so Ode and Bruno cause they drop more for United and arsenal, but Bruno is a much better chance creator while Odergaard a shooter. Bruno also outright played as a pivot player/6 behind Sabitzer when Casemiro was injured last season. I think Bruno's last season was insane creatively(backed up by underlying stats) but general consensus didn't see that cause he didn't have a finisher to convert his chances to goals. But Odergaard was close too, him Bruno Kdb top 3 attacking mids in the league.
My issue was Theo dismissing Bruno so easily when it's so far from the truth.

Keeping in mind, some of those are in different stages of their career. Bellingham could very well get higher. I agree with Tom that Verratti should be on the list. Nicolo Barella should likewise be on the list, is that too high? Possibly, but he has been playing at very high levels for a number of seasons, including last season.

This just shows the issue with football today, Bellingham, Musiala, Camavinga, aren’t top 10, then will be…but aren’t now! They’re future prospects players who have more than enough quality to achieve this, but they’re too young! This is how footballers get there careers ruined, too much is put on them at such a young age

1. KDB (obviously, just been at a clear level for so long)
2. Rodri (actually been the best midfielder this year (Best BIG GAME PLAYER), but less of a body of work than KDB)
3. Valverde (Versatility and skill level. Unreal)
4. Casemeiro (His longevity is just insane)
5. Kimmich (I actually think he's a top 3 passer of the ball, just lacks that attacking presence)
6. Gundogan (Not as devastating or consistent as the other city mids. (except when it matters in big matches he turns into prime zidane - Grealish)
7. Modric (Just unreal for so long. But do agree with Tom he does get caught a bit more as time has gone on. Probs the first year of the last 10 he's outside the top 5)
8. Kroos (how they missed out on Kroos is just beyond my comprehension, his vision and breaking up play is magical)
9. Bruno (Chance creation and criminally underrated. Been consistent and has stats to back it up)
10. Bernardo Silva (Masterful footballer, one of the most impactful, just sometimes (rarely) can go missing in some games)
HMs:
1. Pedri (May be early but seriously, man is Xavi regen trained by Xavi. Could put Frenkie but I think this guys ceiling is far clear of him)
2. Jude (will be top 10 (maybe 5) in a few years probably, but the ENG bias is crazy rn, 2 good seasons in the bundes and a good WC aint enough)
3. 2 French Madridstas (same as Jude basically but FRENCH youth bias but they were insane in the WC)
4. Verratti (could make an argument over any of 7-10 as he did hold up the P$G midfield for so long but I do think he doesn't have that impact presence of the others above)

I think bernie on his day can be top 3 and has bigger games but does have blank games whereas bruno just has a more crucial role for his team and is a more essential midfielder to his team and being that leader (really hard to judge city players cos they are all insane)
Valverde may be a bit of recency bias on my behalf but I just think he's so clean on the ball. Like he truly can play anywhere and is crucial to madrid in their mid stability. I love kimmich and his passing and defensive tracking is near perfect. Ive just seen less attacking output from him this year in comparison to years prior but from a body of work perspective I can see why kimmich could even be top 3

Let's be honest. These guy and also almost of all of us haven't watched a league game from any of the foreign leagues. So the arguments on who is 6th and 7th are just invalid
enzo fernández was integral in argentina’s triumph and messi completing football(won the young player of the biggest competition). moves to a disastrous chelsea team and his quality sticks out like a sore thumb. chelsea fans watch him week in and week out and anyone with eyes and no bias knows his quality. for me easily top 5 itw. in hindsight, if we hadn’t gotten him in january, there would be no other midfielder i would want to sign itw, and i would pay more than we did based on the market and quoted prices for other players. HE IS INTERGENERATIONAL.(obviously gonna back my player but not like i don’t have an argument)
