DEMO | RVCA Surf

As the morning sun rose with the offshore breeze, surfers Noah Beschen, Shane Borland and Oscar Langburne ventured along the dusty roads of Australia in search of the unknown. The three had converged from opposite corners of the globe to share waves and a camaraderie that only traveling can. And, as any journey comes with its fair share of adventure, mishaps and triumphs, boys were fortunate enough to be doled a hefty portion of the latter. Favorable conditions and solid swell bolstered morale and kept energy high, as did a run-in with fellow RVCA-ers Jay Davies, Ellis Ericson and Nathan ‘Noodles’ Webster midway through their voyage. And despite some minor detours - including an unfortunate encounter with some local wildlife - nothing was able to stop the boys from journeying along and taking in the best of the Australian coast.

The one thing that Trumps a surfer's best interest (or the ability to return to a secret spot and enjoy an uncrowded lineup, as well as honor the pact of that lineup to keep it secret) is the immediacy of one's own glorification in the Internet age.
You score, you edit, then you publish. But the power of the information age to exploit vanity, it seems, is stronger than this bit of culture called the "secret spot" that surfers have forged over the past century. I fear that the idea of a functioning secret spot will only have held a temporary place among us, degrading in the current until only the lesson of its passing will remain.
As a cultural development, however, the "secret spot" may not last much longer. In fact, the tools of communication available today threaten to destroy the entire category of the "secret." And those new media tools employ our personal vanity, or our professions, to do it.
I think the lure of instagramming the secret spot is like saying 'neener, neener' to the rest of the world - like "i was there and you weren’t Ha Ha" you want to be the star, not the rock you are surfing over.

It's empty after mid December and everyone is really respectful cause it's Baltic.

Don't be scared of the cold
Vaseline is your friend and trust me....
Surfing for surfing sake in icey water is inspiring...
Might take ten minutes to get out of the suit booties hood and glove but it's liberating..
Not many surfers want the actual hardship of it...

Very sad isn’t it. Great movie and all but I know a lot of people that would feel real sad to see this up here. Sad that people have to film this to feel another sense of accomplishment in some way.
