It has a Cummins because Ford can't get Navistar (which isn't American) to make an engine with enough torque, that will last, to put in this truck. Talk to some guys who drive semi trucks, and ask them what engine they want under their hood.

I say take the boring ass diesel out..put in a 572 with a 871 blower ..get 4 mpg ...then you can overhaul it 5000 miles later..but you got to admit it would be a fun 5000 miles..
