Bee Network - Gillbent Road parallel signalised crossing opens

Stockport’s first bee network scheme, which will be part of Greater Manchester’s walking and cycling network, has been completed and is now open.
The new ‘Sparrow’ crossing is a signal controlled parallel crossing that keeps pedestrians and cyclists separate as they cross and is one of the first of its kind in the UK.

Great idea but I would have liked the same coloured tarmac across the road to raise car drivers' awareness. Also I'd like to see more of the continuous pavements across side road junctions you see in the Netherlands.

Pressing a button to cross is stupid,would you do this as a driver?

I mean there arent many cars on this road then why not use a normal zebra crossing instead?
