      Hey man!:) Oh boy, that's a complex question - overall I started magic when I was teenager, many many years ago - I was completely fixated on it and spend literally whole days making imaginary mean decks (and proxing sinkholes, to my friends' eyerolls) - of course with cheapest proxies (so piece of paper, over basic land card, naming 40$ card that I never even had😂🦥). Spent my whole days at local store with other Mtg enthusiasts back then, trading cards, learning decks etc. I was playing in national tournaments (had some decent results in Tournament scene), I believe mirrodin/kamigawa were the big sets back then, with skullclamp getting banned - I was playing tooth and nail as my tournament deck (and sceptertog as my fun deck) - going fnms etc. Then after few years, I kinda had huge break, for probably like 10 years+, and came back when Mtg Arena was a fresh beta (I think it was like at least 2 years in beta? It felt like long time before it hit the final version) - even parallax styles introduction was pretty big "new" thing :) So yeah, pretty long on magic overall :)
      Outside of mtg I played many many other games (I'm a pretty hardcore gamer), so I was at quite pro level also at sc2, even coaching for some months, as well as long time eve online player, and probably playing thousands of other games in my lifetime :) So I'm generally quite decent at typical gaming decision making :)
      So yeah, wanted to share some Sloth's lore, hope it was a fun read!❤❤🦥 Glad you are enjoying the content, thank you!

    Jim Davis has played Impulse over Experimental Augury in his Mindsplice decks, he said he would rather play a good card that helps find Mindsplice than a worse card that is better when he already has the engine. In practice I have to agree with him, something to consider. Sweet deck, thanks for the daily uploads Sloth!

    • @SlothMtg
      @SlothMtg  28 дней назад +2

      Jim is extremely smart player, and I can totally see this point - that's usually why I didn't use augury in mindsplice decks - if you already have the setup, game is already on the easy side, but if it isn't, getting extra card can be game-defining. So yeah, agree, good reasoning :)

    well insidious roots song of totenzsan and valley flood caller allow you to have infinite mana add in artist talent and now your are able to dig through your deck to cast a second copy of song to mKe enough rats to untap and attack with everything for lethal.

    Fun deck. Thanks to artifacts being difficult to remove in Bo1, the Mind Splicer has some staying power. It destroys the discard decks, but, as always, struggles against the red decks.

    • @SlothMtg
      @SlothMtg  27 дней назад

      Trick against aggro is try to make situation, where you bluff interaction, to force attack that is not lethal - because in reality you aren't going to interact with anything (just drop splicer). If you can find single spot like that during the game, you can usually quickly recover with extra tempo:)

      @@SlothMtg Yeah, I had a good run with this yesterday, but today I ran into that new Boros deck with the forge and Caretaker's Talent for card draw and they have started playing Abrade! Blah. it was already a tough match, but winnable if you could get your Mindsplicer going, but now it's hard.

    Does Jace work in this list? I was thinking Jace + Mindsplice powered Robbery would be a huge mill package. Not sure what to cut though; maybe Intimidation Campaign?

    • @0NBalfa0
      @0NBalfa0 28 дней назад +1

      Jace is a bit of a win more card in this deck. Robbery + mindsplice tends to be enough most of the time. Risking drawing more potentially dead cards vs aggro is risky.

    • @SlothMtg
      @SlothMtg  27 дней назад

      Robbery is your Jace :) Jace doesn't synergize in any way with apparatus, while robbery does it perfectly, also supplementing value with card draw. That's the whole reason to go dimir with splice - to have access to robbery.
      Jace is cool, but here it's just inferior option imho

    I love mindsplice so much in my control decks, but I miss black march so badly. I feel like the meta is is so aggressive, and without a large lifegain source its really risky to go control on the ladder.

    Win con = bore your opponent to death lol

    • @SlothMtg
      @SlothMtg  28 дней назад +1

      Oh my friend, you are welcome to not be bored and play game until the end - to the point when you inevitably get forced out of it :) This is always a weak argument imho - in control decks, gaining control over the game is wincon. When you can't die, it doesn't matter how you force opponent out X turns later.
      I always find it funny to hear this argument, as leaving game is actually what aggro players are supposed to do, to avoid getting more and more destroyed every turn, after they lost control over the game. Honestly, wincons are only here to force players out - that don't understand that the game is already lost for them.
      So if you feel that wincon is getting bored, please play until the end, and you will see that it's not boredom that ends games, its knowledge aggro can't win anymore :)
      And it's not aimed at being mean in any way - just wanted to comment on this argument as it is as overused, as deprived of real base imho :) Cheers and hope you enjoyed the video Bro!❤🦥
