Everyone wants the best performance for their buck, and that’s why Helix is a must-have. This mid-range regulator is the best of both worlds-it has balanced first and second stages, just like the more expensive models-but at an excellent price point so you can dive without breaking the bank.
With features like a balanced diaphragm to provide superior and consistent performance.
Plus yoke or DIN options (3,300psi/232 bar max. or 4,350psi/300 bar max.),
A pneumatically balanced 2nd for smooth and easy breathing.
Comfo-Bite mouthpiece to reduce jaw fatigue with its unique palate bridge, and an in-line ergonomic venturi knob for precise adjustments even with gloves on, you can be sure that you’re getting great dive time without sacrificing quality.
So why look any further? Get your Helix Dive Regulator today!
I ' m a new scuba diver (just 25 dives) and i found this youtube channel. I love it, i'm learning too much with yours reviews. Thanks
Hi Sergio and Welcome to the channel. I appreciate the kind comments and I'm happy to help. Regards Bob C
I love the auto closure system. This is essential for today's diving. I had the experience here in Australia where they just dump your regulator in freshwater rince tank, forgetting to place the first stage plastic protector.
You know it's a big issue some places, folks that don't own the gear they handle really don't care. They're sometimes almost like robots and don't see the harm they do..
Thank You Bob! ☺️ As always very interesting and informative.
My pleasure Lukas.. I thought some folks would find these units kinda cool, thanks for the comments. Bob C
Nice review Bob. I have the Helix pro reg set with octo. Great setup.
Scott, this unit does have some really nice features. Regards Bob C
Thanks for your videos.
I got more information to make the right choice.
Glad I could help Kim ! Regards Bob C
I really like my helix pro.
Hey John, thanks for your comment and you're correct the Helix Pro has some great features and a great value too ! Regards Bob C
The Mikron I have is amazing. Not sure if it was the reg or just the comfort of the braided hose.
Probably a little bit of both, small light weight 2nd and super flexible hose makes it amazingly comfortable in your mouth. Add a molded mouth-piece and you've got a winner. Regards Bob C
Good regulator
Thanks Tom ! Regards Bob C
I have the option to buy this (Aqualung Helix Pro) or the Apeks XTX 50, reviewed in your other video, for the same price. Which would you recommend? It would be for cold water diving at home and warm water when travelling 🤔
Hi Dan, Think with that choice, I'd lean toward the XTX-50. Regards Bob C
Would you please review Mikron VS helix
Thank you
Thanks for the suggestion...
Hi Bob! Would you go for the Helix Pro or the Apeks XL4+?
I have to admit I like the cosmetic of the XL4, however I do think that functions are important too. They’re about $120 difference (Apeks XL4 being the more expensive one). I also got an offer for XTX50 but it’s $160 more than Helix Pro. What do you think? Also, Yoke or Din? Thanks again!
Afternoon PB6, Of these three regs I'd have to go XTX50, that way you have no regrets as shoulda woulda coulda... It's a very well proven reg in Recreational and Tech diving applications. Just my .02 Bob C
Hello. First, thank you very much for this nice presentation.
I have one question: is it possible/safe to plug a Legend Supreme octopus on the Helix Pro first stage?
Yes Sir, not an issue doing that.. Regards Bob C
Great review! Any chance you know the differences between this and the Helix compact pro?
Hi Crouss ! Yes sir, the Compact Pro uses either the Enviro Sealed or Non-Sealed 1st in either DIN or Yoke configuration, and has a Mikron sized 2nd stage. Regards, Bob C
I'm looking to purchase my first reg and wondering how you'd compare the Helix Pro to the Mikron. Aside from the Helix Pro being rated for cold water and the rubber hose, would I be sacrificing anything by going with the smaller and lighter Mikron? I don't plan on diving cold. Thanks.
*Hi Scott, Just my .02 here but let's look at it this way, the Helix is the less expense of the XL4, Helix and Helix Pro. There's APROX. a $40 jump from Helix to XL4 then about $22 from the XL4 to the H.Pro. *
Now Couple things...
- The Helix, the 1st one, you've got a nice up to date reg with fully balanced 1st that's compact in size. Also a balanced single adjustment 2nd stage, and yes on a rubber hose. Very good unit at the price point.
- The XL4, you get a little chunkier 1st stage that's balanced, enviro sealed and braided primary hose. The 2nd is slightly smaller, balanced and uses a single adjustment.
- The Helix Pro has small 1st stage, with Auto Closure Device, Enviro sealed and rubber hose (easy to change out) and 2nd that has single adjustment and reasonable size. The 2nd also has heat exchanger ribs not on the other two.
Looks like about $60-75 difference from 1st to the 3rd one and any of them would probably work for you well.
*So what does Bob say;*
The Enviro seal alone is worth the difference. Remember it's not just about COLD water, it also applies to SALT water and to DIRTY water. It will keep the guts of your 1st a bit cleaner, as well as the cold advantage.
The ACD alone is worth the price, and the smaller XL4 2nd, well not so much. We're not talking G260 vs XL4 here.
A braided hose, yes I love them, much better quality wise than they were in past years.
My money goes to Helix PRO, swap out the hose... again MY .02.
Thanks for the question. Bob C
