    For me the worst thing about the Yakuza 5 cities is that the taxis are always located horribly far away from anywhere you want to go to. Never close to any points of interest.

    • @amilueur
      @amilueur Год назад +53

      That's intentional. When your fast travel choice is only marginally better than the scenic route, you'll be less inclined to min/max. You'll be saving it for when you're in a hurry or become impatient.
      They didn't anticipate people running through ~8 games in a row from sales or Gamepass access, causing unusually high random encounter fatigue.

      Needless to say, taxis frequently helped me avoid being funneled into "encounter zones, and reliably get from point A to point B without aggro. Perhaps people just weren't aware of efficient paths?

Saejima's part is probably our favourite in the game. It's bizarre to all of us that disliking it this much is common at all. The enemy encounter rate is like that the entire game, and it is annoying, but I don't get why this city is singled out. And the invisible walls are also a minor annoyance but...so? I just feel ALL the new cities in Yakuza 5 had issues, they seem like they were planned ambitiously but had to be scaled back massively at the execution stage. The lack of user friendly taxi placement, and the encounter rate being janky and disruptive didn’t help either. The over focus on side plot had a big part to play in this too I think, as the side plot was implemented at the cost of the number of sidestories, and those sidestories are what take a two dimensional location and breathe actual life into them. It was one of my biggest issues with Lost Judgement too, the over focus on the school plot meant that Ijincho cases suffered and had I not done Yakuza 7 prior, I may have had more of a problem with the location too.

    I get that they made the streets inaccessible to cross due to traffic mechanics. But there could be easier ways around this besides using construction. When you decide to cross the street, make it a qte (that can't be failed) where Saejima has to dodge traffic comedically. That way you can choose if you want to avoid those pesky enemy counters at the risk of losing a bit of your health in a qte, or take the longer safer route of the sidewalk where you'll have enemy encounters instead

    • @Underestimated37

    @NachtKaiser666 Год назад +21

    It really feels like Saejima got the short end of the stick in 5 (yes, even worse than Akiyama and his 1/3 part)
    Not only is his story almost a copy/pasted version of his Y4 story, chapter 3 is spent entirely playing the hunter in a village and you only get to corridor city in chapter 4 for a quick run through. And while I get why people hate Tsukimino, I agree with both the positives and negatives stated in your video. Plus I love how powerful you feel playing as Saejima, it's a damn shame how both games where he's playable he's both shackled literally and figuratively. Hell, to add insult to injury, they lock him up for a third time at the start of Y6 and would end up in hiding after the events of Y6. Even when he's free and offscreen, he can't let off some steam!
    You mentioned Shinada's city and to me it's the most forgettable one. It really feels like a hybrid of Tsukimino and Kamurocho. However I really like Shinada's story, the whole search for the local Yakuza that reveals citizens were doing the shady shit to keep actual Yakuza out of Nagoya? Pure gold! Definitely my favorite part of Yakuza 5's narrative. But the sector of Nagoya it's in? Can't even remember the name and you gave it during your video!
    Anyway, enough rambling. Y5 was too ambitious and for me, it fell short. I get why many people love it, but to me it just feels bloated for the sake of being bloated and ends up being my least favorite in the series so far because of it. Too ambitious that it feels unfocused, three new city blocks that somehow feels undeveloped and grafted in to give the game five cities to explore...

    Man Tsukimino was my favorite, perhaps because I felt the most at home there out of all the cities. I don’t have much experience with big cities, but I was raised in a bit of a snowy wasteland. I remember getting stuck on one of the piles of snow next to a telephone box and thinking, “the really got annoying nature of snow down, I love it.” For a similar reason I loved the hunting minigame the most, I think I even completed the hunting story before progressing the main story, lol. Yakuza 5 specially, since it's combat it's really good, and at the start of a new Yakuza game, I want to pick a lot of fights to see the cool heat actions and new stuff. Later on, I want a lot of fights to level up.

    I don't have any problem with enemy encounter rate at atll. Since we could grind our ass off faster that way. Plus,It's Saejima. Saejima with herculean spirit is just broken. Plus,He now can lift up and sign and ended the fight under 1 mins.
    Only problem I had with Tsukimino was how it's like the least memorable city in this game for me,Compared to Nagasugai,Sotenbori,Kamurocho or Kineicho.

    For me personally I think Onomochi from Yakuza 6 was my least favorite because it lacked any fun activities. I love Yakuza 6 but I hate whenever I am forced to stay in Onomochi. My favorite city outta all games would be Nagasugai. For some reason it feels well.. different I love the look of it and I like the map layout. Obviously Kamurocho and Sotenbori are amazing maps to the series but Nagasugai feels like both of those maps.

      Onomochi was so bare boned. There was nothing there. Couldn’t even buy supplies or equipment and restaurants were far and few in between
      I get that’s the theme of the city but still…

      Would have been cool if Pocket Fighter/Fujisawa at least opened a local hobby shop after his side story or something.
      Didn't help that while you did gain the ability to throw enemies into water unlike Kiwami 2 you had almost nowhere to do it except one spot in Onomichi.
      The spear fishing minigame was dope as hell though.

    This was far from ideal but still much better than Saejima's Yakuza 4 traversal of running from cops in Kamurocho. I could actually enjoy playing as Saejima in 5.

    I like Tsukamino, the layout is incredibly basic but the aesthetic is just phenomenal. Enemy encounter rate didn't bother me, I found it more egregious for Kiryu's opening segment tbh.

    I liked Tsukimino, but it is probably the worst and least utilized city in Y5. I don't get they made it so you can't run in traffic there. You could in Y3 in Okinawa after all. You also can't run in the wider street in Kineicho that has more traffic. You have to cross at the pedestrian crossings.

    Honestly all 3 of the new cities in Y5 aren’t very good. All 3 of them are just narrow roads in a grid with some kind of big park awkwardly stapled to one end of it.

    The upper half of Tsukimino literally has everything you could possibly need. Your hideout, a Don Quixote, Cafe Alps, another restaurant, the park, Kamiyama Works, Ebisu Pawn…all the good stuff is up top. IF8-R or whatever is the only thing worth a damn at the bottom.

    Tsukimino was starting to grow on me. That is…Until I got into 4 fights in a row on my way to a taxi, ran like hell to narrowly avoided a 5th fight once near the taxi, got into another fight mere feet away from where the taxi took me, and had to avoid 3 other fights and get into a 6th fight on the way to my destination. I hate this damn city! It’s not even the amount of people looking to fight that’s the problem. It’s the fact that, we’ll look…here are all my grievances with enemies alone all throughout the game but particularly in Tsukimino:
    You can’t escape fights, random street enemies have way bigger health bars than they used to, enemies can run away and/or call in back up, the snow and grey makes it much harder to see when you’re in battle and out of battle, enemies actually pick random items up now and use them as weapons but they do it way too often, there are now a couple of new enemies sprinkled in, enemies watch you the entire fucking time you walk by them and then some and pretty much don’t stop watching until they literally can’t see you, enemies don’t move around the city organically but rather are placed every 20 feet and have a very small walking pattern around their little area, and it is difficult to outrun enemies on the rare chance you can get away and I have never successfully outrun a victory road enemy and if I’m being honest I don’t think I ever will because I don’t think it’s possible.

    Personally I didn't really have too many issues with this city, especially with encounters (tbh I adore them and always wish for more.)
    Also I'm a huge sucker for snow themed maps.
    The hunting section was a fantastic pastime as that lasted me hours.
    The city aesthetics was also great and cozy in some urban way if tbat makes sense.
    If anything this city kind of became one of more more enjoyed cities due to its constant encounters. The combat is just way too good to stop. Lol
