I own a black 2023 TRD pro on 35’s with a westcott lift. I love this truck! Sure it may have a few bugs that need to be worked out but Toyota didn’t let us down with the last generation tundra. I added AFE intake /charge pipes and magnaflow exhaust. the turbos sound amazing with this setup!
@@nickflores4690 I got the Carista obd2 adapter and shut off the fake engine sound/passive noise cancellation. I want to hear that magnaflow exhaust! 😂
Purchased this truck last April, after having the Tacoma this truck is simply amazing. Yes, there are a few recalls but nothing crazy and Toyota is making sure their reputation doesn’t get soured by standing by this truck! Total beast!
After owning a 22 TRD Pro for 5 months, a lot of reviewers fail to mention the lack of headroom in the rear seats (not acceptable for a 1/2 ton truck) and the terrible turning radius. Thanks for bringing this up.
As a TRD Pro owner myself, if passengers are 6ft or less I don't think the headroom is worth mentioning in a mass-market vehicle review. You and your family may be large human beings but that's something you need to deal with individually. Trucks will not be designed around your size if you are larger than a typical american. The majority of folks are not 6ft+ tall. I am 5'10 and the rear seats are great. I've actually had more positive comments than complaints - particularly how roomy the legroom is and the elevated view for rear passengers. For context, the one and only comment I received about the rear headroom was from my buddy who is 6'3. That said I agree 100% on the turning radius. The turning radius is something you deal with if you're 5ft tall or 7ft tall. I am surprised its not addressed more in reviews however it was immediately noticeable in a test drive and did not surprise me when I took delivery of the truck.
Thanks for mentioning it. Previous model had plenty of headroom in the back but new one I sat in the back and I was shocked how small the headroom was. Sucks!
This engine has been used in the LS for the past few years, so I imagine the motor itself is well tested. Plus this is Toyota, they don’t just put any product out there and hope for the best.
Yes lol, Raptors are baja tested and the ecoboost engine is known for being bulletproof, you can find many high mileage ones still running, this new tundra's engine is already having turbo problems, how do you know it will last 10 years? blind faith?
@@h1q910Not for long tho. I’m pretty sure Toyota has fixed it/fixing it. Toyota will never let their reputation tarnish. So yeah, skip the first model year tundra and get a 2nd. Will be more reliable than the ecoboost v6 engines which have a bunch of issues.
You get what you pay for. The raptor is significantly more expensive, because it has significantly more truck and features. A tundra wouldn’t stand a chance against a raptor
I have 3 cars and two of those are a 2021 tundra (the lest gen v8) and a 2017 raptor both are obviously super reliable although the tundra will probably out last my raptor for one reason, Toyota. Anyways I love both trucks :)
When sliding the shifter into "S" mode, that stands for sequential shift and allows you to manually shift the gears. When you did the 0-60 and it showed "S4" it was basically saying you were in fourth gear and it didnt rev any higher than in normal mode. Try pulling the shifter down and it will go into "S3, S2, S1" and then manually shift as you accelerate! It allows the truck to rev higher and is much quicker! Great review overall!
that's not exactly how they work. It's a bit different than a common shift-tronic mode. S4 indicates that the highest gear the car will shift to is the 4th gear. thus higher rpm and torque at higher speeds, reminiscent of an old class 4 speed. the s3 and below operate the same way, as S1 will maintain 1st gear until you redline, and it will shift up for the safety of the car. So yes and no regarding your comment at how S4 was the car saying it is in 4th gear
@@domvanchub but by switching it into "s4" theres no benefit or change from regular "D". RPM's do not change, shifting points do not change. When you manually shift down to "s1" and then shift up as you accelerate, you can let the rpm's rev higher and hold gears longer which allows for a faster 0-60 or a little more fun around town keeping you in the power band haha
I would buy a truck before I would buy an SUV and of course the Raptor has features that I wish the Tundra doesn't but I would still go with the Tundra because of Toyota's reliability record. Ford, Chevy, and Ram can't compete with Toyota's reliability.
Got a same truck, trd pro. Thiught the towing mirror package was a great idea, but it really only increases the blind spot. Other than that, it's faster than a truck. Nevertheless, like many of you mentioned, raptors is a lot cooler and a bit bigger. With the same price tho, this one is definitely the top pick for everyone.
First time seeing your channel but wow great one-take clip at the beginning. Clear and good video layout and progression, and informational. I’d never remember all that in one take 😂
I live in Irvine so as I was watching it ,I recognized jamboree street all the up to peters canyon! cool video and great review, really covering everything
funny enough my dad bough a new 2022 limited tundra and is currently sitting at the dealer with a blown motor, thankfully Toyota is taking care of the issue.
Now highly considering exchanging my Hyundai Santa Fe for a Toyota Tundra as it was the vehicle that took me and my family to New York and back to Georgia last November for Thanksgiving
I was wondering where this off-roaring trail is my dad has a 2017 Toyota Tundra V8 and I like taking it out. Also I would love to see the new ‘24 GMC Sierra Denali Ultimate or Denali review.
Nice off road test👊 just bought brand new 2024 tundra limited 4x4 trd. First pickup truck for my family of 4. My wife likes big suv / trucks, she feels more comfortable with it more safe. We give a try after QX56. We like a big mirrors/ camera all over, park sensor, many safe futures. Just install side steps. Now looking for bed cover.🛻
If I’m a hardcore on performance and off road, then Raptor would be the one. In this case, I’m not, so I will take Toyota Tundra any day just because it has a little bit of everything from other competitors. I just want to collect a beautiful car that has a little of everything for a long term and Toyota Tundra would be the one for me. 😊
I like the look of the tundra but i didnt like the cheap feel of the interior. 6 months ago when i was shopping for a replacement for my 2021 tacoma, i wanted to get a tundra. Unfortunately they wernt available and my local dealers were 10,000+ mark ups. I ultimately went with a 2023 chevy 2500. Couldnt be happier. Good review overall.
I myself like the midsized trucks, since i dont need to haul stuff, but this truck definitely satisfies me better than the new Ranger Raptor and Toyota Tacoma by having air confitioer vents in middle next to instead of under the screen, and also the middle elbow and thigh area is more closed in and comfy, instead of open,
Heared the 2024 Tacoma TRD pro had to be dialed down a little on the hybrid 326 hp engine.. heard with the torque the truck had with the HP it was a rocket

only thing i didnt like about this video is how you say about the sound and it sounds good and beefy... the sounds is actually fake v8 noise and it is only coming from the speakers. It actually sounds alot better when you turn it off..
you might want to do the math on your mpg/ price justification. it would take most of your life span to make up the cost difference of $7k+ on a delta of 1mpg unless you drove an obscene amount of miles yearly. like 100k+ miles a year. then it would just be shy of a decade. oh and thats just the break even.
For everyday drive and picking up my son and running errands I’d use this. For actual work and homesteading truck I’m going Ford. This truck is god for those who don’t really tow heavy things if at all and just need to be able to carry things on the bed of the truck. Simple truck with a little edge. But for real workers. Chevy or Ford all day.
I wanted the Doge Ram TRX but I don't have great credit for which I am working on. Even if my credit was great after coming to my senses no way would I pay $85K+ for a personal vehicle. It would be me going broke trying to be like everyone else So I am going to stay within my limit and get this Toyota tundra or a basic Nissan pickup truck and save money I mean the most basic version of whatever truck I get

pretty sure the Tundra is more than half a ton, more like 2.5 tons
