@@remembertobreathe66 I try to be, and yeah I was interested in knowing who won each season so I just went back and watched all the season ending episodes.
Theme Idea: Deans of Strixhaven, but as partners with their backside Dean. So two Commanders in the command zone, each commander the opposite sided Dean.
What do you mean? The deans are already 2-sided cards. So you don't need to give them fake partner. And both sides can already be played, since they are MDFCs, not T(transforming)DFCs...
@@andrewsparkes6115 but they can never be in play simultaneously. Most of them interact well with the other side, yet in Commander getting them both in play simultaneously is a tall task.
1:05:30 Ouch, Jeremy could've killed Jon in the same turn he killed Stephen, right before Ruinous Ultimatum and Angel of Ruin... It would've been the best choice point-wise, and Justin only had an Ankle Shanker that could not untap that turn.
You guys were the first Magic group that I watched back when I first started in 2011. Thanks for showing me the way, now I run my area’s main magic community :-)
Been binging everything for the past few weeks and watching Commander VS has brought back my love for Magic again and I'm totally absorbed in everything. As a theme I would love to see a challenge where each person plays a themed version of their least favorite block or archetype
It could be an interesting challenge if you hit the Randomonium with companions. First spin tells you which companion will be your commander but the second spin tells you which companion deckbuilding rule you have to follow
Really feel bad for Stephen, Jeremy could have killed both him and Jon in the same turn (same points). But instead 3 games in a row he has been picked on so all his good fortune/plays in the early season has been lost because it is impossible to play 1vs3 and come out on top!
It’s pretty clear Jeremy had some questionable decision making there. To be fair though Steven could have killed Jeremy so mistakes were made. The point system does warp the way games play, normal games don’t have the built in incentive of the point race.
This was a minor mistake, but I figured I'd mention it for newer players watching the video: The spells cast off Maelstrom Wanderer resolve before Wanderer does. Xenagos enters before Maelstrom Wanderer so it's not a creature when it enters the battlefield (devotion is five before Maelstrom Wanderer enters so it enters as an enchantment; it becomes a creature when Maelstrom Wanderer enters), therefore you don't draw off Guardian Project when Xenagos enters. Again it's really minor in this case because a random card is whatever, but it would have been a pretty big deal if Warstorm Surge was out lol - It's just one of those things to keep in mind with cascade and the order the spells on the stack resolve. :) Still a great video so far, really enjoyed the intros and the theme is pretty sweet, though I'm surprised I didn't see everyone who could run it run Karuga, the Macrosage - seems like a good meta pick lol.
Does Jeremy has a grudge against Stephen??? He's been relentlessly attacking him the past few eps... At first, you can think: Stephen is in the lead... Which was true... but here, when he has a clear opportunity to take out both Stephen and Jon which are tied in lead position... he choose to just take out Stephen.
I think magic is hard and it’s easier to make perfect plays from the peanut gallery. I also was thinking the same thing but I don’t judge I’ve misplayed many times in magic.
@@arose112 It definitively wasn't my intention to say it was a mistake. Not taking someone out when you can isn't what I would call a mistake, you can have something in mind/in hand for not doing it. I perso have left players alive when I felt it would be better for the long run, thinking it would give me more chance to achieve my goal. I was just mentioning it as it felt like Jeremy has really been focusing on Stephen the past few games. Having watched all seasons of CmdrVs, I didn't feel that the leading players have received such constant focus. But I might be mistaken here :-)
Really minor interaction thing but Xenagos enters the battlefield before Maelstrom does so it won't trigger Guardian Project as it doesn't have the Devotion to be a creature yet.
How about a de sleeve competition to see who gets a very minor advantage in one of the between season games? See who goes first? Gets to start with a tapped basic (or wastes if starting with a colored mana is too big of an advantage)? Could be a fun bit to watch lol
My buddies used to joke about playing 250 card Commander decks with 500 life and only 7MV+ cards. We called it "Heavy Hitters". Very amusing to see the next best thing on camera.
You want a cool idea for an episode? Because I had a cool idea for an episode... The idea is you each pick a card that makes a Legendary Creature Token, and put that in the Command Zone. But that card isn't really your commander. For the purpose of Commander Damage, cards that care about Commanders, and those all important points, you're going to need that Legendary Token Creature. The Token is your commander! I looked it up to make sure it was possible, and as of right now there's about 13. So you could do it 3 times with different cards if you like the concept. :D But I really want to see an Kaldra deck in one of the choices. SO I hope you take me up on this challenge.
Personally I would love to see the return of noncreature/planeswalker legends as commanders (I believe u did it season 8 episode 3). That was one of my favorite episodes as Steven sneaked in a win against Jon's legacy weapon.
Enjoyed the episode, and i really liked the theme of the video! 'big' formats are something I love the idea of exploring (mildly disappointed no one played 'giant tribal' for 'giant leaders') but i have to say it....Maelstrom wanderer has got to be my personal most hated commander of all time. Its not necessarily 'the best', but it just feels so miserable and inevitable to play against, and I was actively hoping for Jeremy to get crushed out of the game asap. No shade on Jeremy himself though, even if I am #TeamGreen.
There's no real way to see just how this game would have ended up if Steven had just killed the archetype, but it's safe to say that threat assessment cost him this game, or at least 2nd place, the goad creature was not a threat to him specifically because he had better creatures than Justin and even getting his creatures goaded isn't the worst because he's swinging with his big mutated creature anyway.
Commenting just in case, because I don't know what they are going to think. Saskia's ability is after combat damage is dealt so John died before Jeremy. So Jeremy should still get the extra point.
I haven't watched Commander VS in a while as I don't like the webcam setup. I feel like you guys lose a lot of chemistry when you're not in the same room. Stay safe guys and hope to see you back in the studio when you're able to. :)
So... Does Jon just not know how Partner with Brallin and Shabraz works? He could've gotten the human when Shabraz triggered his enter the battlefield trigger from his deck.
