Nice Brookie! I Just built an Ultra light 2wt 6'6" with the maxcatch Size 2/3 reel. Its a blast to fish with especially tight small streams and for panfish. Stands up to my TFO and Orvis. I'll be posting some videos and a review in the next few weeks. You dont need a 500$ name brand to catch fish. Tight lines🐟
when I first researched fly fishing, people were saying it was an expensive hobby. 7 months later I realise that fly fishing is about the same price as buying decent running shoes once a year thanks to maxcatch.
Nice fish 👍 I’ve been fishing my maxcatch 3wt for a year and it might be one of my favorite rods. It’s brought in westslope cutts in Idaho up to 17” no problem.
@@singlemom3260 I’ve got probably 10 rods. Everything from sage, beaulah, echo, lamiglas, TFO. This cheap one catches fish just as well as a high end rod, and I don’t care if I break it or beat it up.
@@brianstrickland7306 Word. I have 7 Maxcatch rods and when I'm rock hopping, bushwacking, crawling after spooky brookies and getting my maxcatch reel and rod banged and dinged about, I ain't sweating it. Plus they catch trout just fine.
Beautiful healthy brookie! Nice job! Never have kept a brookie in NY State. HEar they are tasty. Always release the few I have caught. Good size wild brooks are hard to come by and deserving of release. I LOVE the super light weight rods - in fly and spinning. No better sport!! Especially ultralight spin with 4 lb test for spawning 5-8lb Lake Erie trib smallies. Hook a spring smallie on ultralight? HANG ON!!!! Ride of your life!
I was going to buy the graphite 8’3” 3 wt but got a 9’ 5wt for starting out. All around rod. I really like it. I did know the ultralight rods were glass. Very cool fish. Thanks.
This 2 minutes video of yours sir has me convinced that I should just go ahead and purchase these budget friendly rods from maxcatch! That's a beautiful fish also, great job!
Nice fish! Great video! I have never landed a fish on a fly rod by reeling it in like this - I always strip the line. I am interested to try... and even more interested in this fiberglass 3wt. Thanks much for sharing!!
I like using the drag on a fly reel when I hook bigger fish, ive lost monster fish due to stripping the line as they go for a run, resulting in a pulled hook or breaking my tippet. Thanks for watching!
Hey Austin! So I since gave it away to a friend and bought another just like it but in a different colour, ive abused them, caught big fish on them and I just cant break it! I highly recommend getting one, but from the website as you normally get alot of free things thrown in with the purchase when purchasing directly from Maxcatch 👍
Its also the Maxcatch brand, if you go to their website you can find all sorts of unique fly line colours, they hold up quite well and for a solid price too! Thanks for watching

@@dustin_diamond wow, ok. i bought a 3wt 7.5ft "small stream" ultralight maxcatch rod. i didnt have time to use it yet because of the winter. i am new to all the fly fishing stuff. can you tell me what is the best size leech imitation wet flies you are using for a 3wt? your favorite fly for your 3wt? my dad gave me an old set of flys, but i dont know what are the wet and dry one... i dont even know what is the maximum size i could use. i find we are lacking in good tutorial video and its very murky.
@@dustin_diamond 🤣🤣🤣🤣 bro.... Use 6 max. Youre trout fishing. I understand they pull hard, but ive caught true tanks and 6lb handles them fine. As in 24 inch plus, 5 pound river bows and brooks. In medium current.
fly fishing changed my life and my overall mental health
I concur. Now every stream or River I drive by I want to fish it.
So relaxing.
You know it is intense when you can hear the guy's heartbeat in the video
Haha yeah, I was breathing pretty heavy
And that's why my gf thought I was cheating on her when I said I'm going fly fishing every weekend. Love it. Great catch.
Lol, a man with his priorities in order!

Love the sound of that drag. Good fight on that 3wt.
Yes it was a good fight. Give some then take some. Be patient and it works out nicely.
Nice brook, the best tasting of all of the salmonids in my opinion, you did a great job bringing him in with that light equipment.

May get this or the Butterstick for my 3w upgrade.
Those light weight glass rods are a blast.
A very nice brookie! 👍👍

What kind of line are you using?
Maxcatch rod. Maxcatch reel. My guess would be a Maxcatch Line. I do know they make one in that blue color. All good stuff cheap! I own several.
Very cool vid and Nice catch! Bravo!
What model of maxcatch réel do you use on this vid??
Thanks!!
Awesome job!
Thank you Richard!

light tackle is fun
Wow! Very nice! Who said you need to break the bank to catch nice fish?!
Thanks! Ya ur right! My biggest trout to date I caught on a 30$ walmart combo.
How's that reel treating you? I was fixing to order one and noticed yours is there eco
Have used it for quite a few years, the drag isnt the greatest, but for the money it isnt too bad!
Would you recommend this rod?
Sure would! they are well worth the price, and you can experience a glass rod without branking the bank. Thanks for watching!
Nice catch. What length of rod are you using?
7 foot
In which state was this?
Province of Prince Edward Island!
Ahaa Canada. Same state as Anne of Green Cables
Beautiful
Where did you get that set up
Omg that's a nice pig

what size tippet did you use? certainly not 6X
10 lb flouro, just straight 10lb no taper.
