G-Dragon is the King of Kpop not because he’s written more songs than anyone else, it’s because he has changed the industry. Hair colours, light sticks, rappers, self-composing, self-producing, airport fashion, fashion spokesperson, etc. Also about GD’s eyes - he taught his juniors (iKON and Winner) that when performing, look at the audience members/cameras like you’re shooting lazer beams at them. He said to make them remember YOU. YG artists value charisma as much as singing ability. Choreography is always last, it’s more important to connect with the audience and sing live well than to dance perfectly. That’s why YG artists like Bigbang, 2NE1, Winner, iKON, AKMU, Blackpink, and now Treasure have such amazing stage presence. I hope you check more of these fantastic artists. I also recommend Shinee, EXO, Super Junior, and BTOB. They’re all great singers and performers. Not to mention they’re hilarious. Enjoy!

Awards shows in general are very flawed- everywhere. Part of that is because the concept of true music and talent is very subjective- it incorporates personal taste. Either way, I was disgusted by how much hate there was this past weekend when anyone but BTS won AAA awards. I'm actually an ARMY but it's also great when other groups get recognized as well. There's way too much quality out there for one group to get all the praise. That's why I did NCT and Monsta X reactions this week because I wanted to recognize groups that won.

Before BIGBANG, every idols in a boy group were seen as robotic, flower/ boy style and with synchronized dancing and singing. 5. Idols were never considered as artists before with lyricism and production. They even influenced kpop artists of today to compose their own. 6. They're the celebrity of celebrities. Most people adore and are a fan of them. KPOP groups, actors, politicians etc. Mostly from KPOP industry. They're inspired and influenced by them. 7. The SONGS. BIGBANG doesn't create just create catchy songs, Some songs, the lyricism is so magnificent. They're meaningful and filled with emotions you want to feel. 8. Their stage presence. I think South Korea being sexually conservative or "oppressed" is hyped up a little more than is accurate. The country is constantly changing due to new generations and other cultural influences. Girl groups may not be as overtly sexual as in, say, the US, but it's still there. And I've seen movies and dramas that touch on or directly address the subject of sex and sexual relationships. I even saw one that was nearly straight-up porn. I had no idea what I'd gotten myself into! But I did enjoy the storyline 😅
