First time I'm watching your f2p series very happy to see a new episode so soon. I recently got back into hearthstone within the last couple months after leaving around rastakhans rumble and man is it entertaining to watch again especially watching you play with what someone just starting the game would play with.
@@BlueTurn yeah. I followed him in StarCraft and then when Hearthstone came out I learned how to play from Trump's tutorials, and I've left the game and came back serveral times, but I always kept up with Trump even when I didn't play.
@@Laireso No. MMR counts for new accounts, that's the whole point. If you're a new player with a brand new account and you then proceed to win 15/18 games, you will immediately have a high MMR. There is no "excuse". That's the reality. Trump himself talks about it in the video.

No reward for being smart, only shuffles you against better decks that you can no longer beat with skill. Then the game rewards you for losing a bunch by giving you easier opponents, it's weird MM design and I don't understand why all of these games adapt it.

Just to make YOU feel better because you like to win? What about them? What about how they feel? Why is it okay for you curb stomp someone who is 3-18 while you are 18-3? No. If you are winning a lot, you should be placed against people who are winning a similar amount. That's the most fair way to do it. If you're a smurf and you're great at deck building and have solid game knowledge, then no you should absolutely NOT continue be placed against legitimately new players who don't even know the basic key words yet. Yes, you SHOULD be placed against people who win more. It's not fair for you to get placed against weak opponents just to make you feel better. It sure as heck doesn't make THEM feel better. MMR exists for a reason, and is the best way to keep things as fair as possible.
I really got inspired to do this yesterday while watching the 1st ep. Made a new email, created a new account, went through the tutorial, got 3 cool cards and immediately regretted not having this kind of progression in my main account.
It’s mmr based, rank 38 can play agains gold and platinum players. When I did a F2P to get a “new player deck” for hitting Bronze 10, I’d add players occasionally and some were Gold.
Second comment now that I’m halfway through. 27:25 This right here. Even if you’re a skilled new player, you should still have some ranks to face other newer players with small collections before the MMR kicks in. That’s kind of the point of these ranks.
I think it's good that the smurf detection system / MMR system increases so rapidly. Actual new players have much less than a 50% winrate versus meta decks (and less than 50% vs new player decks with good piloting), so multiple wins in a row vs. meta decks suggests your real MMR is much higher than a new players. But really, it's more likely that the new player pool is small and that's why Trump is facing meta decks (and hence beating them, causing larger MMR gains than if he was playing new players).

The player base is definitely shrinking but I think he barely won some of those games on the back of RNG Created By. Card quality trumps experience sometimes and that could be an issue with a small collection.
Not sure if he already did them on stream, but don't forget to do the single player "book of xxy" events, they each give a "free pack" and I think they are on individual timers per class in terms of droprates even (might be wrong on that last bit)
This run is soooo good. I love this a lot. Previous f2p I recall his opponents almost all immediately had top tier meta decks, this time it seems so fair and honest the battles between his an his opponents.

I said "oh no" out loud when you got Cookie. I got the useless Warlock guy. Like, I guess I can spend dust to craft two epic cards to make a bad undersea curse deck? Or just go into the undersea curse deck without them? I wanted to weep thinking of all the cards I could have gotten instead. Oh the anguish. The remorse. But what could I have done? You can't alter your fate. Or can you? No, you can't.
vs the last Warrior ... tip: you drew so many of your dredge cards ... it would have been better to dredge to see what was at the bottom of the deck before putting the two taunts there that way you at least have a view of what is down there before putting "junk" down there. --> if you don't see Faelin then you know to save the rest for a value game and you try to sneak a win through a colossal ... if you do see him then you dredge him up and use those colossals when in dire need. On a side note, those taunts are not great, not even good vs aggro because they require so much "work", especially because you don't draw the dredged card straight away ... so it always comes down a turn too late. There has to be a better option for the 5-slot/6-slot. As for crafting a card ... the Amalgam seems to be a strong option that can fit into a whole host of classes/decks. Dust those nerfed cards and get an Amalgam. :) Anyway, great series.
Yup, just hoping to draw faelin when he had a way to look for him seemed pretty stupid, dredging up one colossal should be enough of a tempo swing to keep you going so drawing faelin as fast as possible should be the priority.
This part of the F2P is great. People making the best decks they can with the cards they have available. Trying out different things. Makes it all the more sad when everything becomes stupid net decks and all people try to do is follow the meta.
Love that you're doing this again, so good. Would 1 Argent Protector, 1 Tuskarrrr Trawler be good? You seemed to be just scraping by with your amount of dredge, you might end up missing it.
Control paladin can easily beat quest warrior. If you’re at lower ranks cut the smite+big holy spell stuff and add some more early game (if you want you can keep smite but definitely cut some holy spell stuff, especially that 3 mana card that buffs a minion in hand). Good cards to include are the 1/5 taunt that draws and the 3/3 discover dragon. If you just netdeck the list made at top legend where pirate warrior isn’t played you’ll have a tough time at your lower ranks. Once you get to like 1000 legend you can re add smite package for the combo decks.
So there is a ranked system and a seperate MMR system? Wouldn´t it be the smartest way for this challenge (F2P to legend) to start a fresh account, enter about 50-100 matches and surrender every single one on turn one? You would be the bottom feeder in the MMR and probably get 70-150 easy opponents in a row?
i'm not completely new to the game i played a decent amount when the game came for a couple months, recently tried to get back into it and its all very overwhelming getting a shitton of popups and stuff thrown at you. trying to literally just get into the game for a bit but every time i try i match i just get my shit pushed in where it almost feels like i just have to look up guides/meta decks to even have a chance

I feel like I've never gotten a legendary from the standard packs. Maybe it's just been a while and I forgot but I know it hasn't happened in either of the last two expansions. I had theorized they didn't have the same legendary countdown timer from my experience.

I'm doing this along side with you, currently I unpacked Sivara and that hero power mage guy that deals 10 to all enemies, disenchanted some goldens, made a couple wildfires, and now I just feel mean. 80% winrate!
Hey man, saw you struggling on stream a bit with what deck to run and I highly suggest you try quest hunter with your Raj unpacking. I just hit legend for the first time with this deck and it’s extremely cheap with the only necessary legendary being the quest. Since the nerfs were released I smashed my way into legend in one day. Just a suggestion, looking forward to this series!
Man, your disrespect for Sunken Sentinel really made you lose against the last warrior. A 7/8 with divine shield (for 5!) is no joke of a threat. Taunt and lifesteal are just icing
Importer got an... Emergency nerf? to stop an infinite combo but because of the way the nerf was implemented the game thinks it has altered stats so the cost shows up in red and her stats in green.

The people playing the net decks are making the most mistakes. Maybe people go on autopilot at these low ranks when they think their deck will do all the work. Nothing wrong with net decking, just think its fun seeing the underdog come out on top

Absolutely crazy that opponents at the lowest level of ladder are essentially the same as gold/platinum opponents.

If you can get the hunter quest your quest track random isn’t so bad. You shoot a lot of spells and it’s a core piece to that deck right now.
