The murder squad books are pretty character focused, but more police procedural. I think the witch elm leans even more literary mystery and it is a standalone. Good luck to your local library staff!
The book is a big no for me since the main character's name is the same as someone very important to me and it would freak me out. It was still fun to hear your thoughts though. I hope your librarians get all the things they are looking for so your library can open again. Our local libraries are vital for people without many resources. It would be a big hardship for them to not have the computers, kids books, DVDs etc.
