This video was super helpful and informative! I’ll be moving to Shenzhen in the new year so really appreciate everything you’re sharing. Can’t wait for future videos :)
Hey, no worries! Let me know if you have any questions. Rent varies in Shenzhen. The closer you are to the city, the more expensive rent will be if you want a nice quality place. 👌
Very helpful. We have really only Didi'd and taken taxis because we couldn't figure out the Metro and bus systems. I will be looking into the bus routes that the iphone offers. Super good tip!!
You’re welcome! You can download an app called ‘metroman Shenzhen’ from the Apple store. You put your nearest metro station and your end point. It will give you the route and which station to transfer at! I avoided the bus for months, but once I started using Apple Maps I realized how simple it is to get from point A to point B if I follow the suggested routes. Let me know how you’re first adventure on the bus went!
Very helpfull video! I'll be moving to Shenzhen this fall so this gave me some valuable insights! I will be coming by myself so I got interested when you said you live with two flatmates. Is this common in Shenzhen? Is there a marketplace for shared flats? How did you find yours? Your videos are very informative! Looking forward to your next ones:)
Living with flatmates is quite common in Shenzhen because it can be expensive to get a one bedroom. Most people live in a studio or a small one bedroom. But, if you live in the country side you can find a more modern apartment (which will cost you a little less than double in downtown). So it’s up to you and what district you’ll be working in. There are agents and wechat group chats in which people post apartments and rooms available. I found my apartment through an agent. Let me know if you have any other questions !

Enjoy your life in Shenzhen. You are the Shenzhener when you are there.
Thanks!
First time viewer. I'm curious, what nationality are you? Are you Asian? American?
