What a combination of fantastic singing and beautiful music as well as the other way around as well. This is now my most favorite song of my entire life and I'm in my early 60's!
The song's title, “Viva la Vida,” is a Spanish saying that means “long live life” or “live the life”. The song's lyrics deal with themes of power, fame, and the pursuit of success. The song's album cover is a portion of the 1830 painting “Liberty Leading the People” by French artist Eugène Delacroix. The song's name comes from a painting by Frida Kahlo, a 20th-century Mexican artist.

Song is about the French revolution and told from the perspective of the king. But if you're catholic this song hits deeper. Back then, the French monarchy was catholic and was one of the strongest empires in the world. France was a catholic nation and Catholicism in general was strong worldwide. Once the monarchy fell.. it had a domino effect where Catholic leadership fell everywhere. Paving the way for secularism, atheism and liberalism to take over the world.
Under the Empire of Napoleon and under many republics France was very Catholic, everything has collapsed since 1968. Although, for some time a part of the population is reaffirming their faith
Not exactly. The song's title "Viva la Vida" is taken from a painting by 20th-century Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. Although the song is about a monarch who lost his/her kingdom, it can be interpreted in many ways even in history. You are probably mentioning the French Revolution of 1789-1799 and execution of Louis XVI. But I think the better scenario would be the Revolution of 1848 since Louis Philippe I is actually the last King of France, not Louis XVI.
وَأَنِيبُوا إِلَى رَبِّكُمْ وَأَسْلِمُوا لَهُ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَكُمُ الْعَذَابُ ثُمَّ لَا تُنصَرُونَ "Turn ye to our Lord (in repentance) and bow to His (Will), before the Penalty comes on you: after that ye shall not be helped وَاتَّبِعُوا أَحْسَنَ مَا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْكُم مِّن رَّبِّكُم مِّن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَكُمُ العَذَابُ بَغْتَةً وَأَنتُمْ لَا تَشْعُرُونَ "And follow the best of (the courses) revealed to you from your Lord, before the Penalty comes on you - of a sudden while ye perceive not أَن تَقُولَ نَفْسٌ يَا حَسْرَتَى علَى مَا فَرَّطتُ فِي جَنبِ اللَّهِ وَإِن كُنتُ لَمِنَ السَّاخِرِينَ "Lest the soul should (then) say: 'Ah! @@Arylwren1 It is! hildegrade777 probably not soulless but a lot of people had problems with the background music. Probably different tonal hearing. A lot of people make comments about sound in video that I don’t notice or like myself.
What magnificent music, Got goosebumps on my skin.

Whenever I listen to the Gregorian chants or music I feel like a warrior getting ready to head to battle. 😊
This song always gives me the goosebumps and this particular version - amazing!

For some reason I read the title as La Vida Loca, so I was expecting a very different song. This one fits a lot better stylistically...
This feels so holy.
Bless you brothers.
Chills... literal chills
This fr feels like the intended way for it to be sung
Boas para todos,, isto é bombástico como diz a música vive a vida ela é maravilhosa felicidades para todos vocês

I have listened to this version for the last 4 hours! Loved the original but this just made my heart soar. Cheesy I know but...it really did.
Totally the most heavenly choir I’ve heard in my lifetime!! This was the most perfect music!!
Grégorien ….thank you very much….beautiful voices…..
There are many goose bumps on my body, when they began to sing the song together, this is really a fantastic one!
I’d found this casually! What a wonderful video with beautiful sights of landmarks and old churches, but the voices are truly angelic! Thanks for sharing!
I DEMAND MORE!!! Love the sound of gregorian chants and this is amazing
There is something very moving about this song, I love Gregorian Chant. how it all blends together.
This song is so beautiful! And with those voices sounds wonderful.

I actually like the backtrack. I feel there is mix of old and new in this song. Video and the choir presents very well the past and the backtrack is nice little modern twist. Really good job guys. Keep it up!
I think fewer people would have complained if the backtrack had simply been turned down in volume slightly.
It's not bad. It's a bit too loud but not that bad.
I'd like to hear an alt version with a choir and/or a pipe organ. It would blend a lot better I think
@@nicolaim4275 And the backtrack I find perfect volume, if anything I would want the voices very slightly lower. (in volume)
Beautiful!!! Almost as good as their version of The Sound of Silence they performed in the Cathedral at Santiago de Compestella in Spain.
I really like the meaning of the faith that carries this song in everyone who sings it.
it's a retelling of the French revolution and the death of King Louis XVI.
Será que um dia virão ao Brasil?!

My favourite song of all time, it came out when my youngest son was shortlisted for the part of Bran in Game of thrones and it seemed to sum up the character of the series, we had 6 months of recalls, secrecy and excitement , he was pipped at the post by Issac, amazing memories of happy exciting times with my amazing little 10 year old, now a BA. in arts and a Master in law, still makes me cry every time. Thank you.

I thought this song already gave me chills but this amplifies it. Adore it
Song is about the French revolution and told from the perspective of the king.
"But that was when I ruled the world". - *weeps in catholic*
Uau! Obrigada

I can't stop listening to this. The resonance draws me, the stylized visuals entrance me. I've never been a groupie, buy I like this so much I want to know more about these men. That's weird for me. But I can't stop.
this sounds like a ballad that a king one sang to lament, now sang by future generations in choirs.
it is. it's a retelling of the French revolution and the death of King Louis XVI.
@@Arylwren1 It is! And it is exactly dedicated to him, although in the Gregorian version it reminds me a lot of his predecessor Louis IX, who died in a crusade and it is canon that he liked Gregorian music. The only difference regarding the lyrics is that he did try to be honest. Although it all ended because of the mistakes of the crusade 😢
Love their music. Angels
It's not really their music though, is it
@@user-zb8tq5pr4x some song they made themselves. Moment of Peace is one of them I believe, no matter. They make good covers and good music in general.
I always felt it was a Pop music classic, but it is so good that it can be performed in so many ways and still be good. Perform it in Latin at a lower pace and it becomes Gothic almost.
