To replace a broken LCD or Digitizer you'll need:
T5 & T6 star type screwdriver. (search for torx on Maplin or Amazon)
Small bladed screwdriver
Plastic knife (or guitar pick) and some tweezers to grab the screws.
Parts are very easy to find online.

I enjoyed this video which encouraged me to order from China via Ebay a replacement digitizer for about $5 USD. My C6-00 phone, bought in 2012 had started giving problems with parts of the touch screen. I ended up disassembling the phone 4 times because at first I did not properly clip the main board into the grooves, a second time because I forgot to transfer the 3 pushbutton array from the old digitizer to the new digitizer, a third time because I forgot to transfer the small speaker/grill from the old digitizer to the new digitizer, and finally a forth time because I transferred the small speaker with the gold pins pointing up instead of down towards the center of the phone. The new digitizer came with a plastic protection film on both sides and before removing these films, one sees an optical interference pattern of wavy lines and circles. However after removing the films, I could still see some patterns and I tried looking without success for an extra protective film accidentally installed, but I could not find anything that would release using a needle or blade, so I have to accept this pattern which is less bothersome when the LCD screen is on. Transferring the 3 pushbutton array is delicate as these buttons are connected to a thin rubber gasket which is stuck down in its cavety and one has to be careful when lifting it out of the old digitizer not to tear the rubber film nor have the rubber film get folded over and stuck onto itself. When I tried to pry out the small loudspeaker at the top of the old digitizer using a needle (this speaker was stuck to the metal grill which was stuck to the digitizer), the speaker broke apart and I could see the gold plated wires the thinness of a human hair being cut and subsequently this small loudspeaker did not work, so I am stuck using the large loudspeaker whenever I place a phone call. Since a replacement small loudspeaker costs as little as the digitizer, I suggest that you order it at the same time you order the digitizer from whoever in China will supply it. My Nokia C6-00 is a powerful phone given its cost at the time (bought new for $100 two years after its initial release) and spending $10 USD to keep it going past its 6th year is a very small investment compared to a new smartphone costing $400 and up.
you could use a small drill to take the head off the screw and when the cover is off use pliers to remove the rest of it

The digitizer ribbon: Is there supposed to be a small black plastic connector in its end?
I pulled it out, and now there's 'only ribbon' left in the ribbon. No connector, only silver small points which I'd call 'solder points' or similar. Is the connector now broken? ... and the remains of the connector are still plugged into the 'slot'?

help please , when sliding my c6 .. to the landscape mode suddenly the screen appears shaking with colors and lines ... but after completing the slide .. the screen becomes normal ... is this has a relation with the software or the hardware??? and this has a dangerous affect on it . if i left this like that without fixing !!!?? thnx

I have replaced the digitizer for my nokia n97 and when I click the screen in a certain place, it clicks somewhere else. Is this a problem or is there a way to calibrate it correctly?

First of all I would like to thanks for this video. I opened my Nokia C6 because I have a problem with the display (I thought). The display stopped working, it shows only some coloured lines moving as I move the slide. Do you think if i will buy and replace a new motherboard-flex-cable-ribbon is enough to fix the phone. I have important data in it and I can't access it anymore.

My touchscreen isn't working now. It all began with the calibration getting messed up, if I touched it above it came as touching down the screen, then it didn't work except for half screen below. And now it doesn't work at all to the touch and I'm using the keypad. My phone is not so old but I'm not her first owner, I can say that I didn't dropped it till now. Can you help me?
I do have a question if I may, my C6 touchscreen is not working hardly at all. It only selects the bottom row of buttons, or sometimes the top - vertical sensing not working? I can't use the calibration in "Touch Settings" either, same problem. Would a hard reset help, or do I probably need a new touch screen? Any assistance would be appreciated - thanks in advance! I changed flex ribbon cable since my Nokia C6-00 got black screen. After changing I got a screen but now I have problem with the "touch-screen".
After that I changed digitizer without new cover (I made mistake and ordered just digitizer :( ) but it still doesn't work.
My question is: Is the digitizer only responsible for touch screen or it is there any kind of other parts?
Is it possible cause for the problem fact that I flexed (curved while changing flex ribbon cable) little bit screen.
Please advice before I buy new C6 in parts without solving the problem. :)

Hello, I've got a Nokia C6-00 but the screen is broken. It started a while ago: the screen would work when the phone was folded, but when I unfolded it, the screen went black. At the moment, however, the screen is black all the time. All other functions are still working (including the digitizer). Have you an idea what could be the problem? Could it be the whole screen or the cable towards the screen that is broken, or could it simply be that the cable is not correctly plugged in?

But the display
is working only when slide is open. However, the touch is working fine irrespective of
the fact if slider is open or close. I opened and closed the slider very slowly and then
i noticed that at some position (of slider while closing) the display comes back and at
some position it goes out. Now i can use the phone if slider is open and i have to
restart the phone with slider open else there will be no display.

I have nokia C6-00. Last night the display went out. I closed and opened the slider but
there was no display. i rebooted it and display was back. But the same problem came
again. Interestingly the display was back when i opened the slider and went out when i
closed the slider (not black completely, but a light glow is there on the screen). I
opened and closed the slider a bit forcefully and the display was back.
If I'm honest I had thought myself repair my phone and I remove screen carefully, and then replace everything in its right place, but I'm afraid to damage the phone. If you can put a video tutorial where show how to disarm the panllata the Nokia 6280 and then reassembling I try to follow the steps looking at your video to see if it will display the connections are reassembled correctly and work now.
Thanks for the reply, well now the problem is I have no clue where to get a flex ribbon cable from! I live in India and the local Nokia care centers don't provide spare parts and the ones I found on eBay charge me a bomb to ship here.. Do you think the flex cable is repairable? My C6 which is just over a year old and naturally, out of warranty, has started going nuts.. Screen goes blank or sometimes has these weird lines all over the place it's been devastating .. My charger plugin end part is a little bit bent, it was charging the phone no problem until recently. When all of a sudden when I plug it in the charger socket it doesn't light up(which I would assume indicates its connected). Could somehow the bent part with time have pushed away the inside so it no longer creates a connection with the plugin charger? is the charger dead? (charger when pluged lights up showing he is working i guess) Tried with new battery still doesn't charge. Thx
the LCD screen was heavily stuck down on my model, therefore prizing it up at one corner will only break the screen, use the plastic knife to separate the LCD fully from the phone. A word of warning to all watchers, LCD screens are very fragile, this is not made as clear as it could be in this vid. Thanks for the helpful video, although as that phone in the vid had been taken apart previously,it all comes apart a lot easier than a first time fix & this will cause viewers problems, help & hinder

I bought in ebay this "original" nokia lcd. and the quality it's not even close. I have this tiny horizontal lines now and the colors are dull compared to the original one. the old one was an MP 1.5 screen and the new one an MP 2.0.
the thing is that I want to change the screen again for a really good one.
What are the details I need to know?
My wife and mine c6-00 got broke at the same time, her c6 gets the screen black out when open the keyboard, and mine c6 got the touchscreen off it does not work, but when I press hard on the bootom near the turn ok button the touchsceen starts to work(bad but works) . Is something broken? Or just some cable loose?
If i keep the slider
closed for a while then there is no display no matter if slider is open or close. It
seems to me that the ribbon should be faulty or can it be some other problem like loose
connection? and will reassembling solve the problem. One more thing when i close the
slider the display doesn't go out immediately rather is fades away slowly.
I have a Nokia 6280 celular, but inexplicably darkened screen, and I have not dropped the phone on the floor or something of the sort so I could have caused the damage at screen. By the way, I have one that stop functioning all of the sudden, the battery was charged and it was working but i turned it off since the touchscreen was not responding but it never came back, do you think changing the lcd and digitizer will resolve the problem? thanks

its touch stop responding sometimes...like when
1. My phone is locled and i press menu button to unlock it...just after that if i again press menu button it respond normaly.
2. just after i answer a call....locking and unlocking again makes it work again.
3. When i open its slider keyboard.
what can be the problem and its desireed solution???

My touch screen goes blank every time I slide the keypad out, but I'm assuming that it's just the flex ribbon cable and I'll fix that once the part arrives. But my speaker just above the LCD screen is broken, so could I replace that as well?

A quick question: Mine has the stupid thing of the keyboard not lighting up anymore when it shoud and I'm not able to boot it up in "closed"mode, it does vibrates but it won't boot, only when I slide it open.

The problem I ran into was that the person shipped the flex all rolled up so the flex wasnt flat. It kept pushing the lcd screen back up. Should've flattened the flex before starting, it would've made it easier.
Hi there, thanks for the reply, I've seen where the actual ribbon has broke. I will no longer bother with this phone, as the relacement part for this isn't cheap anywhere, plus the phone isn't worth much today.

2 days ago I opened my C6 and on the screen there were some lines : lines disappear when I run the slide but then the phone crashed , my question is : may be that there is dust inside that interferes with circuits or is something else? Sorry for my English :P

Nice vid man.. i got an issue with my c6. All the keys light up and i can touch my screen. However the screen is black( does not light up). It used to come on randomly when i'd slide the phone open or close it. Would you know what the problem may be? And would this vid be the solution?

When fitting in the digitizer, mine doesn't fit in 'flush' like yours, its like something is blocking it, and also when I take the cover of the digitizer only the sticker comes off, its like there isn't even one on it. Do you know whats happening?
I can't believe how awful the ribbon cables are for this phone! Don't get me wrong the phone itself is awesome, but the cable ruins it all.
Which part of the actual ribbon gets broken by the way, is there any way of fixing the cable yourself?
now the entire scenario is changed. i have display when slider is closed and no display when slider is open. In morning open slider gave display and now closed slider has display. Should i try to reconnect the ribbon cable before i change it with a new one?
P.S.
Nokia C6 came with a cable CA-101D which is supposed to charge the phone through the USB port.
But it doesn't. Is it supposed to charge through the USB? No matter if phone is off or on when plugged it?

(it was fully chared the day before) for a while but it did not turn on. But the day before it happened i clean the screen i think i problably was too hard on it, :-((

So , is it possible to exchange the components of the white digitizer with the black , so that I can have a working black digitizer ??

On my C6 does not work the tuch screen then freezes on the screen sweep. It is a software or hardware problem? I removed cleaned and reassembled as in your movie, turns on but the tuch not work.
hey can i remove the top screen guard cover off? im just wondering as GSMarena has the c6-00 has it listed as gorilla glass. so the touch screen shoudnt scratch when i touch it.?

Now everything works! If you set the automatic keyguard locks up so I have to power cycle the phone for it to work. Is it the fault of the software corrupted?
