You mention the bass which is important. Lovebites just came off of hiatus. The original bassist and co-founder of the band, Miho, left a little over a year ago. They had bass auditions, and Fami was her choice. She has her own RUclips Channel which 667k subscribers. Check out her Alien cover. Her slapping and tapping and more modern style adds more depth than the old school heavy metal style playing of Miho. You should check out some of their older content. They are a blend of power/speed/thrash/heavy metal.

Fami is an awesome addition to this band on bass, period.
Asami's voice is the best yet for her.
Midori, The Shredded Shredder with the guns for arms (she also competes in body fitness competitions) with the cool hairstyle is a pure shredder.
Haruna, the drummer, showed off her best cymbal and china work to date.
Miyako, the long black haired guitarist, is simply a genius. She is a virtuoso on guitar and piano, and she has composed around 50% of Lovebites tracks.
Miyako & Midori in my opinion are the best dual leads going today, if not ever. This entire band might as well be a super group.

Asami (the singer) has said that the video is about the fight against your own inner demons. Remember the mirror that she destroyed with the sword? That means, I think: don't enshrine bad things that have happened to you like in a picture frame, but smash fossilized memories that encumber you. However, at the end of the video she's on the run again, and I guess that means the fight never stops and there's always one more inner demon to slay.
The fight within ourselves can sometimes be the hardest fights. I love the idea and it was expressed really well in the video I think. Lots of great symbolism in this video for sure!
The bassist is not the same person as the one you will already have checked out. The founding member, bassist, left over a year ago. 20 year old Fami went through a 3 stage audition process and was announced as bassist in October. She has a RUclips page of the same name and I seriously suggest you check it out. This band is that good all the time. No deviation. Please ask your local radio station to play this. And they have a second song from the forthcoming Judgement Day album dropping on the 11th (Japan). Audio only. It’s called “The Spirit Lives On”. It was previewed in an interview Fami did on rock radio in Japan today, “Coming of age day” in Japan. If the world has any sanity remaining these women will be household names…at least among metalheads. Yet they remain relatively obscure. The fan base (The Wolf Pack, so named because the band has had a Wolf on the cover of every release) are tireless in their desire to make that happen. As you will soon discover.
I wish we had a radio station anywhere near me that would play amazing music like this! But, I agree, they should be household names in the metal world! And for Fami to be her age and destroying the bass that way is insanely impressive! Good for her!

Thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 Lovebites is one of the best bands in our country. The ladies are better in live performance. We say "Japan is the country obsessed by Rock Music". The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands. They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age. I've heard "Japan is the country obsessed by Rock Music" quote before. I've seen numerous performances from artists who filmed there. Two of my favorites being G3 Live in Tokyo and Dream Theater Live at Budokan! I will absolutely being exploring more J-rock bands. Thank you so much!

Congratulations, you just found the best new metal band to come along in decades. In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. Other reviewers have described them as alien superheroes disguised as young women, angels, princesses of metal, and angry bridesmaids. They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they searched for a new bassist. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 and dropped their first song, “Judgement Day” on December 22. Some background:
They were formed in 2016 from the remnants of a legendary all-girl Japanese metal band called Destrose (yes, all-girl metal has been a thing in Japan since at least 1981). Miho (bass, chief headbanger and founder of the band) had a vision of a new band in the style of the great European bands of the golden age of metal. She recruited her former bandmate Haruna (drums, 4'9" “pocket nuclear reactor”); they needed two world-class guitarists, and so they went and found Midori and Miyako, who were with other groups. The four of them then found Asami, the singer, who was doing soul and blues at the time (she was also trained in ballet).
Miyako has composed a little more than half of their music, with Miho composing a lot of their thrashier songs in collaboration with Mao, the lead composer of another band called Lightbringer. Midori has also been getting into the act, and they regularly perform a song written by Haruna as well. Asami writes most of the lyrics, and cowrote the music for “Judgement Day” with Mao.
In mid-2020, Miho left the band she had founded, for personal reasons. They recently announced their new bassist, Fami, who is a young phenom and herself a composer and multi-instrumentalist.
The instrumentalists studied all the great historical metal bands going back to Purple and Sabbath, through Maiden, Priest, Metallica, Helloween, Slayer etc. They have incorporated some of the best of each of those bands into their arsenal, and have created a sound that is fresh and cutting edge while paying tribute to the old masters. They toured with Dragonforce in 2019, and word from those in attendance was that next time around, it will be the ladies headlining.
They do everything from soulful power ballads to heavy thrash. Almost every song includes face-melting solos by Miyako and Midori. The two guitarists are quite different in style and tone. Midori (blonde ponytail) is the extrovert and speed demon; Miyako is the introvert, with the more soulful feel (though she can also shred like crazy). Midori uses a cleaner tone, Miyako uses more distortion, pinch harmonics and pedal effects. The contrast makes their duets rich and dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that either one can smoke most of the shredders in the classic metal bands. As another reviewer said, "It seems criminal these two are allowed to be in the same band."

Miyako is also a virtuoso concert pianist, and was headed for a career in classical music, before picking up the guitar. Midori, the ripped blonde guitarist, is playing too different ESP E-II Horizon guitars. I believe the one she's playing when she's cloaked is her black one, but the one she's playing when she's wearing white is a new-to-me paint job. Her usual Horizon has the "reindeer blue" color scheme. She has a handful of other guitars, but the electrics she's played with LOVEBITES have all been ESPs. When LOVEBITES started out, she was often seen playing a gorgeous white FRX, but she stopped using that right around when the second album was released. On the song "Winds of Transylvania," she plays an ESP Arrow with a custom paint job (I love that guitar as I have an Arrow as well).
I love ESP guitars & that’s what I stick to! My gems are my Andy James ESP LTD models. I have 2 of the 3 he had. I’m still hoping one day to find the third is a decent condition

They were phenomenal from what I saw and heard! Absolutely killer shreds, riffs, tone… the whole deal!
Fami has a totally different sound than the original bassist and co founder of the band Miho. This is Fami's debut. For a metal comparison Miho's sound was more like Ian Hill of Judas Priest and Fami is more akin to Markus Grosskopf of Helloween. Radical change in the band sound between the 2. If you listen to more of their stuff take note of how much of a bad azz player Haruna the drummer is. Like a return of Keith Moon

All of us guitarists know in our hearts that no matter HOW good you get . . there is a 9 yr old Asian girl who can play rings around you. The Thrash Metal fan in me fully seconds the recommendations of "Break the Wall" and "Set the World on Fire" and adds to this "The Awakening/The Hammer of Wrath" ("The Awakening" is some kind of intro): ruclips.net/video/otJZPUCwyOM/видео.html - these are my three favourite songs by Lovebites so far, but you can't go wrong with any of their songs. At least I haven't heard a song I don't like yet.
I listened to all of Electric Pentagram today and there wasn’t a single song I didn’t enjoy! Even some like throw back Van Halen sounding rhythms towards the end!
@@dannyleftridgemusic Same with me. Even if they play subgenres I otherwise don't care much about, I love what they do. It seems they are capable of bringing fans of different subgenres together. I have read more than once people saying that they usually don't like Thrash Metal, but that they love Lovebites' Thrash Metal songs. In my case, it's a bit the other way round. I'm not a huge Power Metal fan (not that I dislike it, but there are only very few albums I really love), but I love the Power Metal songs by Lovebites. I've been listening to metal since 1984 and for me, Lovebites have taken the best of different "old school" metal subgenres to the next level.
They definitely bring the old school back in an incredibly tasteful and modern way!
While Lovebites plays power metal, it's far from the only arrow in their quiver. As a band, they have evolved their many and varied influences from classic metal into a sound all their own, Lovebites Metal. Not wholly one sub-genre or another, but instead, a skillful blending that hearkens to their influences but is never shackled by them.
You are 100% correct! I went in expecting full on power metal but got SO much more! Such a great blend of styles!

I had somebody respond to a comment I made on a reaction video to Break the Wall. I said the song was pure thrash, and was told I was nuts, it isn't thrash, and I should go listen to Nemophila if I want thrash.

@@mmcpa Nemophila is very good but they dont play Thrash songs, is more like metalcore and some other styles. Break the wall is pure classic thrash, some people dont know what is thrash metal and think that every metal with screams are thrash.

@@dannyleftridgemusic I have to agree with fotrografo 42, although the reaction was still a good one. For future reference, what your audience craves is a true, legitimate first-time reaction. If you're doing a reaction to a band you've never heard before, make it a true first-time reaction. Don't look them up on Google, don't listen to even a 5-second clip beforehand. Your audience wants to see genuine surprise from a reactor going in blind, (the audience is vicariously reliving their own pleasure of their first time every hearing the band). That moment is unfortunately lost with Lovebites now, but you can still capture it with other bands, especially bands like Lovebites that do bring a "surprise" element to the table. The Japanese scene is bursting with bands like that. If and when you react to any of the following: Nemophila, Band-Maid, Aldious, Fate Gear, Hanabie, Babymetal, Lady Baby, Wagakki Band, Unlucky Morpheus ... go out of your way to make the reaction as blind as possible. Each of these bands brings something entirely different and unique, and your audience will be delighted to see you experience them for the first time. With any new band, you can only experience them for the first time once. It's one thing if you're not planning to react to them, but if you are, try to make your reaction video the actual first time!
