Game 1 is the kind of thing I'm worried about seeing more of, you getting behind after the cannonrush and then winning regardless because your mechanics are just way better. Which is why I am sad to see the 1 base restriction go.

My two cents:
I think that zerg over-produced lings and tried to expand aggressively in response to the stress of the cannon rush. Reading that situation and responding to win is a continuation of the original strategy just like all the immortal play we know and love. None of these games were won with only canons. Number of bases isn't a factor to me.
