It took me at least 2 years to become conversational in German, Arabic, and Turkish while deployed or assigned overseas on numerous assignments while on active duty in the U.S. Air Force. Keep in mind that I was immersed in the culture and taking classes to blend in. Mad props to Somin for trying to learn a foreign language which is not easy for anyone. Keep up the great work and you got this!

As someone who started to learn many languages but masterd none, I feel the struggle and totally get the feeling of being scared 😅 But the most important thing is to just talk, without fear of mistakes. My first Japanese teacher always said the point of learning a language is to communicate with others. It's not about being perfect or making no mistakes at all. As long as you can communicate your thoughts and feelings, that is good enough for a start. The rest comes with practice 😊
Matthew is a great teacher! He is very patient and knows how to engage. He also chose a helpful set of words, I didn't realize how much I use them! Now I'm thinking about how I learn a new language (currently Japanese) and how valuable real conversation is! Speaking is the hardest part, you did really well Somin 👍
