      I've seen the current intention for salvage in some PR's that are being developed. Intention to fully remove the reclaimer, make it so salvage has to get most of their basic equipment rather than start with with it, removing fultons from the autolathe, pretty scary stuff.
      From 100 hours of salvaging and some amount of frontier time I can say that Blue Debris were basically the best way of getting stuff up until now, the new big debris are cool, although I saw a concerning lack of crates on the one shown. I wonder whether Magnet Asteroids will ever not be awful as they seem to be being pushed as the intended early game way of getting materials. Seeing multiple goliaths in a single area is pretty insane, fighting any more than one at a time seems like a big challenge without resorting to cheesing them.
      I do have a feeling that some of those directing these changes might not have too much salvaging time, as when they first reduced the yield of ores to materials by 5, the ore processor required 30 of a material in order to get anything out of it. Which was insane.
      To balance out my negativity: Syndicate Codeword highlighting is amazing praise be SlamBamActionman. The galoshes change is also smartly done.

      @@DankManPlays I take a break from the game and I may end up seeing Salvage Murdered in my absence. It's by far and away my favourite role, but all the reasons I enjoy it seem to be the same ones that those working on the game hate it. Oh well, Factorio Space Age is coming out soon and I can get some fun flying in space there.

      ​@@MehnixIsThatGuyI get delta V took the reclaimer away but at least gave you jetpacks, they did at least give you the option to fix the reclaimer wreck later.
      Personally I don't want to go back to fire extinguisher leap of faith salvage, it's a bit rough.
      Also removing Fultons from the auto lathe would suck, but you can buy salvage vend stocks for 1k and they come with 20.

      having all the tools from the start is EESENTIAL and removing the reclaimer will make the job lose it's unique appeal.

    SOOO glad for the word highlighting! I am really bad at remembering codewords unless I myself am the one initiating contact (luckily for me, the people I was trying to make contact with were usually on the ball, especially since I really try to use the codewords in a way that isn't super obvious to other lmao).
    People used to always end up complaining at the round end about others not picking up that they were dropping codes, but honestly I can see how it would be super hard to realise that this is what is going on if people are preoccupied trying to do their objectives or like... anything at all really lmao. Maybe if having a helper/associate was always guaranteed, but it isn't.

      Honestly, they should give the diona the option to maybe spawn kudzu (or a kudzu-like plant) if they are not hungry or something (similar to arachnids and their webs). I am not sure if it is possible to slip on tiles that have kudzu - but if so maybe make it so that diona can't slip of tiles with kudzu. Having the option to make the kudzu harmful or not harmful would also be cool. Or perhaps have the kudzu not be the spreading kind and only affects an area of, say, 4 tiles radius from where the diona triggers it.

      ​@@Spartan-gn5cdjetpacks, delta v already took away the reclaimer, you can fix the reclaimer wreck if you get the parts though.
      Personally with jetpacks it actually makes salvage less of a headache because everyone can show up to the wreck at their leisure, instead of people complaining you took the ship without them.

      @@gatomaru cat herding is not a job I feel like doing, trying to run an any bit efficient salvage team with a shuttle is just a headache as nobody communicates, and everyone seems to forget that salvage missions are only 6 minutes, if you're not here when we're doing it you can show up on the next one.
      Might just be me but so many salvagers are too in it for themselves.

      Not that the average salvager wasn't giving anyone those materials anyways, the number of people who intend to hoard stuff on the ship is part of why delta v already took the reclaimer away.
      Like how often do you see the reclaimer being extended ridiculously big just to fit more junk on it.

      The goal is for salvage to lose the reclaimer roundstart, so that its more focused on the magnet early on building up towards building a shuttle

      "Start without the reclaimer" then give us lavaland, in full. Spending 30 minutes looting and waiting for the magnet to recharge in order to build a shuttle only for evac to be called in 99% of rounds will be shitty and no-one will want to play salv, and suddenly the station will eat itself for the money it craves.

      ​@@DankManPlays I've done hundreds of rounds on delta v salvage, it is incredibly rare someone dies from running out of air in their jetpack, unless they do not radio for help and give gps coordinates. Remember salvage is a team effort, the whole team has jetpacks. You aren't alone out there.

      Build your own shuttle like on delta v, or like on delta v ask the cap'n to buy you one.
      Personally I play salvage to be able to engineer space ships, because there is no way you can as an engineer ensure you get the materials to make a shuttle.

    Is there a way to set up a private LAN server singleplayer just to test out different roles and figure out things without stepping on other people's toes? I know stepping on other people's toes is kind of part of the game, but I feel like I could learn so much more a lot faster without people constantly walking by and wanting to RP or report me to security or just one shot kill me with some epic trick they figured out in SS13 fifteen years ago.

      Removing reclaimer is okay, removing auto lathe Fultons is a massively stupid move, people love Fultons and Fultons are the best way to stop hoarding.

      @@2b306 in my experience removing the reclaimer actually made things better.
      Less hoarding, less herding salvagers into the ship, you can leave at any time to bring someone downed to med without having to get the rest of the team. You can show up late to the wreck and not have to complain you got abandoned.
      It also gets rid of the round start mess of trying to set up the ship when you can just get started with the magnet.
      Main issues for the shuttle round start is hoarders refusing to ever drop off the stuff they find and contra stashing, gonna be blunt the salvage shuttle is a bit too good of a spot to stash contra or dodge arrest on, security has basically no ability to deal with the reclaimer.

    The Goliath is too powerful, those should spawn as mini boss. 2 hits alone makes you bleed to death or place you in bad, which in a minute turns into crit and then you die

      First time was funny because no one wanted the jug suit and big weapons we got, so I think some random tider found it and just started mowing down sec

    not a fan of forcing the nuclear operatives to use the station nuke, I say give them a choice between the nukes, as the mobile nuke has the advantage of superior positioning (occasionally) and less likely to force the nukies to go down with the ship.

    I just want salvage to do their damn job and mine. It’s too critical of a job to just let it’s players go off and be loot goblins while the rest of the station is starving for mats. I don’t even care if that means removing the reclaimer. Not like they did their job while they had it so what difference does not having it make?

      Used to be able to go to asteroid and fulton back enough mats for the rest of the round in 20 minutes, and then go fuck around. Now mining is just so much worse, and I see so much less mats getting sent back now

    Im pretty happy salvage is being reworked, losing the reclaimer is gonna upset a lot of people but i think its positive for the job in general

      Removing reclaimer is a net positive, removing auto lathe Fultons is the stupidest thing I have ever heard.
      You want to encourage salvagers to use Fultons, not discourage them.
      You want salvagers to send stuff back not hoard it on the shuttle.

    I don’t like the highlighting at all. It will trick people without a doubt, and syndicate cooperation wasn’t even unlikely. New syndicates will without a doubt fall for some random saying a code word on accident and out themselves whereas in the past they likely wouldn’t have noticed unless someone was intentionally using all of them which is why there were multiple. Bad change overall, but as there is some good with it people will ignore the bad like with every change wizden makes because it’s open source and that gives them an excuse to do bad stuff I guess

      How will this trick people? I mean, it's just the same as usual instead now it might bring your attention to the fact that someone is dropping codewords instead of being like yours truly and forgetting they exist most of the time unless you are using them yourself.
      It doesn't take much to realise that, hey, one single word might just be someone chatting normally (which was the case before anyway). I think this will wind up being way helpful for all syndies; and newbs generally have issues that most don't consider (I personally didn't realise I could press 'c' to view my objectives the first time I rolled thief).
      As for syndicate cooperation, I've cooperated with plenty of other syndies before, and on rounds where I was not a syndie I have seen others do some insane stuff together by pooling there TC. Just because *you* may not have experienced much coop syndie stuff doesn't mean others don't.
      And I think you are wrong, I find people give wizden a way harder time then not.
