      @reno_leach Месяц назад +4

      @OnceSomeFunATime Take a break until your emotions are under control. The key is to just avoid trading while being frustrated or something. After the break review what went wrong. Journal and analyze what you did wrong and check if you followed your trading plan. If you're still feeling emotional or tempted to chase losses, it may be better to stop trading for the day and start fresh the next day

    Trading is all about being comfortable with being uncomfortable and accepting randomness. Not just "knowing" the market is random, but accepting it. Achieving these two things alone will not only change your trading, it will change how you look at life.

      Because we think that the trade we're in must make up for the previous losses or we think the market is going to make this big move today. I came to a point where I don't think I'm going to be rich. I just want to be profitable in the long term. I don't monitor my real profits or losses. I have an excel that makes a calculation and gives me a figure. If that figure goes to a certain point in the negative, I quit for the day. But that figure is not my real profit or loss. It is just an indicator. I never watch my account during trading.

    • @lethalvin
      @lethalvin 16 дней назад +11

      Frankly it took me 9 years and just started being consistently profitable. My trading was all an emotional roller coaster all this while. I always used to think there had to be a way to trade without losses and was only looking to find that specific way. Finally realised that losses are part and parcel of the game, not taking every single trade seriously but calculate the profits after a series of 100 trades. Manage the lot size such that you can afford to take 50 consecutive losses and still continue trading the same method until your edge plays out and giving you money overall and above all, trading is a statistical process and not a personal gain or loss

      But then, what do you define as "profitable"? I think that's key, because if we lose for years, then how much and for how long we have to win to decide something has really changed? Because in a totally random process, i can be profitable for 6 months or so, after losing for years, and that wouldnt prove anything

Bottom line, there's always depression for some, and profit for others, it all starts from having the right mindset. In the end, we’re all trying to make sense of this human experience. I try to stay mindful of this little caveat at all times. Right or wrong, we all have personal convictions or preferences that usually were influenced by the society or cultural norms that were on repeat during the tender years of life.
      So continue to do what you are doing. Those of us who are in the cheap seats will do what we do, like laugh, criticize, and oppose anything considered as helpful. It’s just so much easier to tear things down than to build or repair.

    Most traders are not profitable because they don't fully grasp the nature of the game that they are playing. Therefore they can not re-design their mind to make it suitable for trading. Explain this to me : How is it possible that most traders are profitable trading paper accounts but as soon as they switch to real account they crumble ? If anyone is profitable paper trading that tells me that it is NOT the strategy problem because whatever the strategy they use seems to be working on paper trading. The answer is as soon as real money is involved there are a wide range of emotions that come to the surface . Therefore , as a trader, it is your duty to develop a mind that controls these emotions and the best way to start is to first understand that trading is a form of gambling so you need to develop a mind that thinks in probabilities .. As long as you keep thinking the secret answer lies somewhere in the charts or in the candle pattern or in the moving average line you are wasting your time and energy on the wrong thing ..

    Hands down one of the best videos I’ve seen on this topic. You’ve summed up all my trading mistakes in this video I really think this will help me become profitable. Discipline is hard but discipline is key 🔑 . I think just getting away from the computer or phone for the day after a loss is the best idea.

    You are so right!! yesterday after finally being profitable for 10 months, I lost a trade and than began to revenge trade and lost my whole account.... I felt so angry and sad... Now I have to start all over again... It is emotional trading.

      Wtf man.
      10 months of consistence, and lost everything. Thats sad. I have experienced this but not after so much time thriving. Keep strong.
      Dont give up.
      And dont keep all the money in balance. Keep just what you need for 1 day of trading

      Do you have to pay tax though, when you take the money out? It’s ashame i can’t have a main account and a savings account which isn’t linked to your trading.

    I have done years of practice on backtesting and this made me so good finding at perfect setups that I merely lose a trade in backtesting, but when it comes to the real markets, I go blank sometimes with all these emotions on what to do when I lose. I feel humiliated and in pain for hours even if I don't do revenge trading and stop for the day. Thankyou for shedding light on the psychological aspect. I already feel that it will help me improve. I will surely jot down a contract to be signed daily by me

    Loss aversion was the most painful truth I had to confront. You’re right it built over time and I allowed it by not correctly acknowledging that.
    Now I still trade my Triple AAA Setups
    I have a lot of drawdown built helping me take losses and I’m able to accept my losses as long as I still am in the game rather blowing the account and cannot fix any issue then.
    I enter my trades.
    I have stops and target.
    I aim for 1:1 but few times.
    I end up averaging $2200/ prop firm account. 👍

    I know my strategy is good, my trade work 70% of the time. I just can't seem to cut my losses(30% of the time) and it's affecting my strategy. It's insane how I freeze when the trade doesn't go my way. I feel like giving up but I know I want to do this longterm.

      Change the framing.
      Focus on not losing money and loss mitigation, not making money.
      We make money when a take a techinically based loss.
      Lets suppose the best stop is 10 ticks. If you get stopped you made money because the expected value was positive when you open the position. Any tick beyond the original stop is a loss, but not the orignal one

    I can definitely relate to this, thanks for posting. Trading for me has become a game of fear, which I need to conquer. I seem unable to execute my plan, however simple, despite trying over and over. Even thinking of trading can initiate a racing pulse. Overcoming the emotional battle is a real focus for me now. Good to understand it's probably a struggle that many other traders experience. I got funded after a few months of trying, but couldn't keep the account. Taking the constant hits over and over also plays into the fear factor and the expectation of failing.

    This perfectly applies to my trading journey of last 4+ years. Appreciate bringing up this great video. I used to take as high as 10trades per day and was making the broking company rich and I lost in all format of intraday trading(options, equity, future). What I repent most is the time any money I wasted in OPTION buying for 3years which was always giving me Loss.
