'Self harm' certainly manifests in many ways. The visible and non visible scars can last a lifetime. Knowing friends who have pulled through to continue their lives and help others along the way.

Maybe they are practicing a form of bodily decoration, similar to piercings and tattoos? Coming to terms with the keening within is an ongoing and never ending effort, I think. Sitting with it over the years has made the situation livable (um, literally). When i was younger and my mental illness was untreated, i used to burn myself alot. Ive long since stopped, but i had two girlfriends that would cut. And they cut a lot. Myself and the two girls i had dated were all abused as kids. I think its an outer expression of trauma. But i dont know much...😢

in my experience its usually girls with absent fathers who do this... we do need people with daughters to stick around...
