- I'd like to bring you a series of used car reviews on the channel but with a difference that they are owner cars. Here's the first one submitted by Peter in Kilkenny. The Mercedes 350cdi AMG sports version came with a lot of tweaks and didn't have add-blue or start-stop so it's old school cool.

The first generation will still remain the best though. The taillights on this car looks too feminine, kinda like lips of a woman, oh and not to mention the placement of those mirrors.. i mean literally on the middle of the door.

Actually what most people like in CLS is that grandpa analog clock, that’s pure excellence.
I do love that Diesel engine I've experienced it in a e350 and gl350. I've been in couple of e63s before and still was impressed by how smooth and fast there e350 was
Excellent video and review of the CLS. I'm really impressed by the screen installed and wish I had known that this could be done. I have a 2012 CLS 250 cdi AMG Sport in the same colour and interior and I'm extremely happy with mine and my 2.1 ltr has 201bhp and 500Nm of torque, what's not to love about that. It's got plenty of power and it looks stunning. Everywhere I go it draws attention and looks way better that either the facelift or the new shape.
Whats the reliability of the 250 cdi in comparison to the 350 engine?

Funny coincidence, when You drove Paul McGann's S-Class I did have same car too. Now You test drove CLS and now I have or had CLS Shooting Brake 350 CDI. Very good car. I drove with CLS in May to Ukraine and June back to Finland with wife. Unfortunately I did crash it in Poland, Suwalki but I could drove it to Finland. Fortunately nobody did hurt, thanks to Mercedes awesome security and Audi's on the other side. Insurance company did calculate that repairing costs are 23,500€ and car price they estimated 30,000€ so insurance company redeems the vehicle. So I need to start find another Mercedes, again. I've just bought a 2017 (old model) 220d from Motorpoint in Derby. Haven't seen it or driven it yet but fell in love with the AMG Line. So buzzing but have to wait 2 weeks to collect it.

Great review as always. This is the best cls shape. All mercedes had to do was put the new interior in it. The new shape looks bloody horrendous!! Like some weird sort of fish or something.

I remember when a Mercedes-Benz W124 in base spec was seen as the height of Prestige in Ireland, back when you got nothing as standard.
Yes the W124 were plastic heaps compared to the likes of earlier 280se. Country folk seem to measure their human worth by the size of the car they are seen driving in. Keep up with the Jones's seems just as rampant in urban residential areas.
There was a time when MDL had Volkswagen and window winders and tape deck was extras in the cars. Now MDL own Mercedes and that's where the options list stays long

What are your thoughts on the Merc CLS diesels in comparison with the BMW 6series Grancoupe? It'd be good to see what you think of the 640d now it's a few years old. I've got a 2015 640d GranCoupe, had it since new and honestly haven't seen anything special to tempt me out. Let's see what the 8series GranCoupe brings.
Any information on the upgraded touch screen which you show at 9:00 that many people haver requested please?

Bob, I have this car but a 2015 Shooting Brake, so some updates over this one also. 5 seats, big boot and nearly every feature that is available on current loaded E-class. Had it for 2.5 years now and 50,000kms. It's very hard to find a car I like more, the materials and finishes are superior to every car I try to replace it with, soft touch everywhere! The air suspension is fantastic and the radar cruise/self drive/auto park package is very clever and works at all speeds in all conditions (many don't). If my car were a 63AMG I may never sell it, alas I'm looking for things to replace it with.
Would a G11 BMW 7 Series be a safeish bet?
7 series is nice to be in the back of, as a driver they are fairly boring. Your Shooting Brake will be a far better drive. That said, the 7 will be a collectors item and are really cheap at the moment
The last good looking mercedes they did. Thinking bout maybe getting one.

Dermot Crookes I’ve seen it on Ali express, if you google android touchscreen Mercedes. Apple carplay possible via an extra dongle to plug in to your iphone. I think the whole thing is that as it’s running Android itself it’s essentially a second smart phone living in your car, so you can run and install most android apps on the device itself rather then via your smart phone

Dermot Crookes newer cars tend to not use the din standard that an aftermarket radio that Halfords would sell rely on. They’re heavily integrated. you’re kind of stuck with what you have unless you find a specialist place who don’t mind a bigger job

How do I get the android system installed
Just bought a 2018 350AMG to replace my 2013 250. I guess I have to accept some extra cost on the fuel consumption, but boy, it pulls well and smoothly.
Seems to struggle to get into gear 9 though.
Many people talk shit about the new cls but in my opinion its a beauty
