Mix engineer job is to make sure, everything is tight and shiny from kick to the vocals to create a solid cohesive song. From panning a sound to the left or right, to making the snare lower and controlling volume on everything for a well balanced mix. This track is hard but sounds lazy. This is when the engineer should’ve made it shiny and play with the ad libs, backings and stabs to distract us from clocking it. Mixing is done through EQ, panning, reverb, compressors, and other effects. Mixing is like cleaning your bedroom. This engineer didn’t polish it to its full potential. An example of a good mix from Digdat is the track Eight Mile feat. Aitch. Listen to that then listen to Die A G, focus on the vocals. You’d hear it. That’s the quality the engineer should always push for or better.
