Your comment is so thoughtful. I’m also a grandmother (59) and enjoy learning about lifestyles that I have never experienced. I really appreciate your well thought out comment and I couldn’t let it go without commenting to you. I see the channel holder saw your comment. I was born intersex, and my body stopped producing hormones in my 30’s. My doctor prescribed be female hormones to get me back on track and it was truly lifesaving! ❤

Same, but I was prescribed Testosterone (i joke that I'm AMAF: Assigned Male at 40). I suffered for 10 years on that poison until I realized what was going on. I went off T for 6 months before switching to Estradiol, and having no hormones is THE WORST. The night after I took my first dose I slept better than I had in years and I woke up feeling like a completely new person. The old me! I'm back, baby! I identify as trans-femme non-binary now.

My son started taking Testosterone at 18 years old. Before that, he used to cry at the drop of the hat at almost anything... very emotional (just like mom lol). And I remember after about 1 year on Testosterone he came to me and said "you wanna know something weird? I haven't cried in over 6 months." It BLEW MY MIND and was a very poignant example of how estrogen and testosterone just make people think and behave differently lol 💜😘 Thanks for sharing your story, as always. 🙌

When I was 26 they had to do a complete hysterectomy (which included my ovaries) due to severe Endometriosis that was causing bleeding/scar tissue on other major organs. Because I no longer have ovaries, I have been on estrogen ever since... Estratest till 2016 and Estradiol since 2016. I miss how much less emotional I was on Estratest, but when I tried to go back to it in 2020... I lost half my hair. As someone who's lived with various hormonal states, I can say it's amazing how much hormones affect us emotionally.

I can’t tell you how important your message is! You give me so much hope! I have an amazing 9 year old boy who since he was 2 has always felt like a girl. We are navigating day to day and just loving the heck out of his journey no matter what that looks like. But I look forward to your videos not only for information but just for a continued sense of hope. Like I told him “I’m your biggest support system, no matter what that looks like” if and when he does want to transition we will seek all the proper professionals and make sure it’s the right journey for him and then we’ll throw the biggest party. Weather he’s straight, gay or trans! ❤

I'm so glad you are having such a positive experience with HRT. This is a powerful video about how important HRT is. My wife came out in October 2022, just before her 41st birthday and started HRT in April 2023. A few weeks after starting HRT, my wife told me that for as long as she could remember, there was a fire alarm going off in her head. The alarm was loud and never turned off. The alarm screamed "Something's wrong. Fix it" over abd ocer again for almost 40 years. She continued abd said that after 2 weeks of being on HRT, the alarm turned off completely and it has stayed off. She also confesed that before HRT, the only 2 emotions she had were anger or depression. She now has SO MANY positive, new emotions (especially crying). She is so fun to be around as she learns the positives in life.
Can you imagine living with a fire alam in your head for decades and the only thing that turned it off was HRT??? WHAT A MIRACLE HRT has been in our lives.

Shaye… you are the most luckiest person in the realm of ‘Living in Life.’ I cry with emotion for the gift you have been given from Amanda. She see’s you. She loves you. She accepts you. She has given herself to you. That is a gift of heart that is the most precious of anything in life.
It’s been one year now for my coming out and six months on HRT for my transition. My wife of 24 years could not gift me the same even through 4 months of open communication trying to accept. She is gone. And I continue to grieve my loss as she continues to grieve hers.
Amanda, you are an amazing woman, and Shaye, you are an amazing woman. I feel the love you both share for each other in every video I watch.
I simply adore you both. God Bless.❤

I find myself in a very similar situation as a middle-aged trans-woman married to a woman. We've been together for over 20 years and married for 9 years (no children). It took some time (after I came out to my wife that I wanted to walk the world as a woman and that I've felt this way since I was 4 years old), but she was able to find some space in her heart to accept me as I am now. We found a way to make it work together and we've become closer as a couple than ever before.

I remember nearing the 6 mo mark on HRT and freaking out a bit. The changes by that point were both noticeable and irreversible. It’s a decision that should not be taken lightly, for sure. Eight years later, though, and I have no regrets. HRT has helped in more ways than I originally thought possible.

Oooh there is SO much in this video - you covered a lot in a little under 12 minutes!!! Gave me food for thought that I am super grateful for, one of my goals for 2024 is to be more authentically me and now I am wondering if HRT might be a part of that as a 46 year old cis woman 🤔 who hadn't felt like myself for many years and I am 99% certain hormones play a role in that.
When Amanda spoke of personality it instantly made me think of Dr. Joe Dispenza's description: "personality is our Personal Reality".
I LOVE how affirming this chat was/is too 💖
The ending brought me full circle to my thoughts in the beginning about me showing up more as me - the cyclical nature of life and the balance within us individually and in couples. The LGBTQIA+ community, as a whole (you both included ), I think offers a lot of wisdom in living in balance of masculine and feminine energy regardless of gender binary 👌🏼
Seriously I could write an essay here in the comments but this is more than enough!!! Thanks once again for showing up here and sharing as candidly as you do. This world is a better place because you both are here 🤗😘 Sending so much love to you - here's to whatever 2024 has in-store 💪🏼🔥🥂✨🔥💖 Michelle Marie x

2023 was my year of transition as well with HRT (mtf). I was in social transition for about eight months before HRT. I am also former LDS, and was raised in the church, both in Salt Lake City, and St. George. HRT has made a world of difference for my mental health. I am just now starting to heal the trauma from childhood though. Growing up in Mormonism is very hard for a trans kid, especially when she (me) didn’t have a name for what was happening, and the culture was extremely hostile towards anything different. I am so glad to see younger people than myself, being able to come out much sooner in life. I went through over 40 years, before I found peace. Hugs to both of you. 🤗🥂🏳️‍⚧️

Transformative? I think that's probably the best word I can think of to describe what i was like for me, when I started taking estradiol - about 7 years & counting. Not just physically, but the phycological changes that occurred were just such a relief. It really was as if some kind of weight had shifted. While my core identity has more or less stayed the same, the negativity, & feeling of isolation has greatly reduced. While at the same time I do believe my empathy for others, has increased. Not that I never had feelings for others before, just that my access to that empathy seems to have far fewer internal roadblocks, now. Amanda & shaye, thanks again for these wonderful videos 😊.

Hi you all , I love following your journey. Often one of your videos makes me want to reflect. I appreciate this one about hrt. I have been on hormone replacement with estradiol since August 21. I am much older than you and my doctor has me on a low dose twice a week. It's interesting how you talk about how you've changed emotionally. I can see the difference as well. before I started transitioning, I was much more controlling, probably demanding. I too enjoy having more empathy and caring how others feel, not just about what I want. for me it's been subtle at times until I actually see myself reacting much different than before. as always I hope you all are well and happy. Being in a marriage for 16 years now one thing that I really appreciate is that when my emotions are so up-and-down and I’m trying to regulate them mentally I really appreciate having my husband to be a strong, emotionally consistent partner to help me. I also feel like my emotions help to soften him at times. If my husband suddenly started crying at the drop of a hat over things and coming to me for emotional support it would be hard for me. I guess I never thought about this part of transitioning and the aspect of losing your husband but gaining a wife.

There's something to be said about the anxiety, the pressure to do something about dysphoria, which is alleviated when you feel like you're doing your part, apart from any neurochemical effects. That alone breaks the cycle of hitting your head against the wall, trying to find an impossible solution without new information. But then the physical changes are coupled with the social transition, which although that's at the root of things, there are different anxieties accompanying the changes: Major impostor syndrome - especially if you are gynephilic and had a male upbringing and socialization, and of course the fear of rejection. It's like leaving your sinking boat behind while you swim out into the ocean, hoping to touch land on the other side.

Thank you. I've been on MTF hormones over four years and really haven't seen a big difference. My doctor is very kind but she had no idea how to prescribe for my needs. I'm still trying to figure out how to get to the sense of peace you're feeling.

I found your channel based on the Mormon aspect of things and curiosity. Your channel has given me insight into the 🏳️‍🌈 movement like I haven’t experienced before. I know that you can’t “pray the gay away” and I am glad that Shaye has found peace.

I have watched your videos and I admire you both so much for caring so much for each other and your family. Also your decorations are so awesome!!! I went back before transition and it is amazing the transition. Even the softer man look phase Shaye went through. You are so beautiful now inside and out the way you carry yourself. You can see the weight off. The gift you give your children that they know that they can be honest and will be loved unconditionally.

Girl, I decided to go on HRT to see if it would relieve my gender dysphoria. It did and it was night and day difference! I didn't mind the physical changes, but that was not my reasoning at all for starting HRT. It's so hard to describe. It's like you know that you are sick or that something is just off. After starting HRT though, I just felt... right.

I have not checked your channel in a few months. I am gay so I thought you were pretty good looking before transition (but of course you were not happy with who you were at the time). I’m very happy (for you) that you turned out gorgeous after transition as well. I basically went from a female ogre to a male ogre.

I think most trans people who go on HRT do so to alleviate dysphoria and transition. Some do not transition, even after starting HRT, because they find social acceptance hard, have financial limitations, and/or find it difficult to get support from others. I think it rare for someone choosing to go on HRT not to go farther in some way in their transition. The decision to go on HRT is associated with a desire for someone to be the other gender. Once on HRT that desire does not go away.
Non trans people who use hormonal treatment is a completely different experience than when trans people decide to take that step. In my opinion, in discussions about trans people going on HRT it is not relevant.
I am a MtoF trans person. For me, HRT really made sense. I have dealt with gender dysphoria since childhood. I did not always know what it was all about. I cross dressed, but knew that was not quite right for me. Years later, when I was overwhelmed by my desire to be female, my egg cracked and I came to accept my authentic identity as a woman. Within six months I was on HRT and starting to live a more connected and better life. Transitioning has not solved all my problems, but I am a better person for having done it.
Amanda, I think you are amazing. Your positive attitude with helping Shaye is wonderful. I am married to a terrific woman. So far, she is sticking with me. It is not always easy. For many trans people, marriages do not survive. Shaye and I are the lucky ones. It is nice to see Shaye doing so well!

Thank you both for making this video. It is so well-done - and the information is so important. I’m grateful for your courage and your willingness to share this very personal journey with the world. As we approach Martin Luther King Jr. Day, I’ve been reflecting on civil rights gains and challenges. We all need to keep working for the fair and just treatment of all people. This can’t happen without knowledge and understanding, and you’re making huge contributions to that. Bravo.

Do you worry about side effects? My mother was on HRT and they feel it is what caused her breast cancer.

This is something I investigated quite a bit early on. I have the same health risk as a cis woman. Testosterone has its potential side effects as well. For example, prostate cancer and cardiovascular disease.
At the end of the day, I had to ask myself… what would be the consequences of doing nothing?

I am totally blown away with both of you showing your viewers your honesty, genuineness, and compassion to this topic ❤ Shaye; along with you transitioning I see a GREAT confidence in who you are now 💪🏻❤ As a 65 yo biological female, I enjoy every. Single. Video!! You and Amanda are really teaching me a LOT in a very positive way ❤
There is a young person, probably 25 ish (?) that works in the liquor store within our town’s grocery store. I am fairly sure he (she?) is transitioning. From what I have learned from your videos; it allows me to feel very comfortable around her (him?). (Her) name is Robin, she still has the body of a man, but does have breasts, a man soft voice, and has grown her hair out. Let me tell you!!!! I would give anything to have her beautiful wavy thick hair 🥳🤩 On the times I am in the liquor department and she is working we have nice conversations. She is Jewish, I am Catholic, and we had lovely conversations at Hanukkah 🕎 and Christmas 🎄.
♦️ Thank you for giving me the confidence to have lovely conversations with her (him) 😇😃 Both of you have really opened my eyes, and have given me a fresh set of compassion ❤ Thank you ever so much 🎉🤗

Again, beautiful couple. Just curious though, based on what several friends have said. hrt does wonders mentally, especially early. Everyone I have spoken with says about the two-year mark is when the physical changes speed up. Also, this is a time of joy and excitement for them. Did you experience this?

Also - Amanda seems like a really good speaker. Perhaps you guys should start doing podcasts with other people on the trans journey and/or Amanda should enter politics and try to make the world a better place for everyone. I know it'd be a REALLY difficult position to put youself in especially with all the hatered and sh*tty-ass people there who are trying put other people down. But perhaps Amanda should use her voice and knowdledge about how hormones impact us all to try and make the world a better place (not that she's not doing that already by being so supportive and amazing - but just speaking, researching and being able to actually see all sides and being so openminded just makes her 1000% better at it than what we currently have.) ❤

Nobody tries so hard to be cis as us trans people and that creates a war in our head plus a baggage we can spend a long time recovering from. It's so common to do a trial hormone kinda test run, often from the net but hey we often don't get help & desperate people do desperate things. A stop start thing is also quite common as we try to work out what this silence in our heads is. When you've been at war with yourself it can be disorientating to feel peace. We seem to need to refeel the pain to remind us of the direction we need to travel along.
