Always love your comments about Mamamoo. MMM being created in a lab is a new theory. Sounds like the concept for a kdrama lol. I wouldn't totally discount your idea but I'd put it in the same category as the rumor that Mamamoo are not from this planet, or, as another reactor put it, that they're mystical magical unicorns from outer space. I always chalked up the alchemy of their singing to their bff sisterhood bond but that still makes it a miracle and a deep mystery. They're like an all-star jazz quartet who've been playing together for decades made up of trumpet (Solar), tenor sax (Hwasa), alto sax (Wheein) and clarinet (Moonbyul).
Paint Me is my favorite MMM song. It's the theme song for their four album series 4 Season 4 Color and it introduces the color scheme and all the major concepts and cyclical symbolism used throughout the project. Their voices in Paint Me triggered such intense reactions in different parts of my body that I had to ration my listening for the first month or so. Paint Me was my pick for 2018 SOTY and is one of Mamamoo's main vocal masterpieces in a recording studio along with I Miss You and Where Are We Now. Mamamoo kicked off their 4+ hour long 4 Seasons F/W concerts in 2019 with a jaw-dropping orchestral arrangement of Paint Me that included a new rap verse by Moonbyul followed by Starry Night. Those concerts were the finale of the year long 4 Season 4 Color project and, as always with their Korean concerts, they were backed up by a live band. Here's a link to a pro quality video of Paint Me & Starry Night and their greetings to the audience with Eng subs: ruclips.net/video/5hsiFh8cLic/видео.html
Star Wind Flower Sun was written by Solar to express her gratitude to the members (symbolized in the title), their families, staff and colleagues and to moomoos for their ongoing love and support. Solar performed Star Wind Flower Sun in her solo concert a month after Yellow Flower was released and when she finished the audience sang it back to her a cappella. Solar fled the stage in tears.
I like Starry Night a lot but was never a big fan of the guitar part that reminded you of Waves by Mr Probz. My ear isn't good enough to know whether the songs use the same chords changes but I don't hear any similarity otherwise - the arpeggiated guitar line in Waves is played differently. Many people commented on the similarity between Starry Night and Prayer in C by Robin Schultz, which sounds much closer to me. Imo the guitar in Starry Night sounds generic and that's why it reminds people of other songs. MMM re-recorded Starry Night with an orchestral arrangement replacing the guitar on their 2 cd career retrospective album I Say Mamamoo: The Best.
Hwasa wrote Be Calm after the passing of her beloved uncle. Her voice wraps you in a warm embrace that lets you know everything is going to be alright. I think Be Calm is a perfect example of music as comfort food that soothes your soul.

"Made in a lab" lmao! That would make a cool Kdrama plot. I'd definitely watch it. It's sweet that Solar wrote it to thank everyone that's cute.🥰 I think the sound in similarity to Waves is more so the general vibe of the instrumentals that remind us of it (the sound of the guitar), but I ABSOLUTELY hear Prayer in C more (also, thank you for reminding me of this song. I completely forgot about it!) And Funny that you mention Robin Schulz bc he made a remix to Waves, and I think THAT version was the one we were thinking of.

@@magiceca Yeah, when pops said they were genetically engineered in a lab I cracked up and then started picturing it as a kdrama lol.
They shot the MV for Star Wind Flower Sun in New Zealand while they were filming Starry Night. That's where the intro song comes from - Solar played the ukulele while they sang Star Wind Flower Sun as they walked through shallow water at the edge of the sea and then a stronger wave came in that made them scream and run. Naturally, Mamamoo being Mamamoo, they included it in the MV and the album. :)
Star Wind Flower Sun was the 2nd fan song Solar wrote. The first has a couple of alternate titles. The Korean title is Never Letting Go, which is the fandom motto, but RBW called it I Love Too in English and that's the title you'll see on the live MV they shot during their debut concert in 2016. The line from the song is actually I Love You Too, which adds to the confusion imo. Anyway, Solar wrote the main lyrics and Moonbyul & Hwasa added rap verses. If you haven't seen the MV then add it to your must-see playlist and bring tissues - it's rated 5 hankies on the emotional wrecking ball scale. When pops finally falls in love and declares himself a moomoo you might want to tell him MMM wrote a couple songs just for him and show him both MVs with the subtitles on. 😊

Star wind flower sun is one of my favorite songs. And Solar wrote the song, lyrics and composition she wrote it for her members and fans. There is also Solar singing a solo version of this song, Solar included it in her Solar Gamsung album(something else to hear). And a hard to find video of RBW singers and musicians singing this( some of the pre-debut purple kiss members included) they all sang this to mamamoo as a congratulations. Paint me is unreal though, probably one of the best ballads sung by any group ever. I am not aware of an acapella version but there is a live version within the last 2 years. This was the Hwasa TV show episode 8, Mamamoo live hits collection. It is Mamamoo live with a live band. They sing 1llella with a much more latin beat with the live band, they sing a medley of songs but the very last song is the full version of paint me. There are also some extremely good concert versions.

I'm usually not the biggest ballad fan, but theirs are very nice to listen to! I think it's their voices that just make me like the songs more.
