While I believe they are all mega-talented, I definitely see where you’re coming from. I’ve been thinking about this recently as well. People (especially outside of Memphis) seem to derive their style from someone else’s own style rather than the foundation of jookin’ itself, which greatly reduces versatility and creativity. People like Dra’em (and just about everyone in this video and more) can put their own twist to the style because they’ve put the work into understanding the foundation/culture of said style, whereas some others literally use one/several persons’ styles as their foundation (hence greatly reducing their versatility and even fluidity, as aforementioned). Also, to anyone reading this, consider this loving, constructive criticism. I too try not to get caught up in admiring someone’s individual style so much that I begin to imitate how I “think” they would move. Of course, there’s nothing wrong with admiring someone’s style and even modifying some of their moves to suit you, but please remember to put the foundation first (dang, that kinda’ sounded biblical😅.) ✌️
