Thanks Anthony! I'm glad you liked it. This is really just a sample of the old prototypes we have. I've been wanting to share these for a really long time.
I am interested in the "new idea"...I am an APEX owner--great system! I believe in purchasing DIRECTLY from the team here instead of purchasing along another route. Cody takes care of my every question.
I think you're understating the fact that the EdgePro is the most copied design. Absolute Legends, anything you guys come out with will be awesome and super functional.
What a great innovator!. Thankyou Ben. Edge Pro Apex sharpened knifes changed my life. I just wish I learnt this when I was a teenager, not when I was 50.
dude I love that. I remember years ago talking with Ben on the phone and he said the original edgepro WAS indeed holding the stone in your hand as opposed holding the knife to the stone. I was really hoping to see him use the old wooden ones and show us how it went!
I've got one of your Edge pro 4 units complete with the scissor sharping attachment too. It's pretty good but it does take a long time to get everything perfect. I have the slip collar too to allow for changing the stones and not getting a different cutting angle. The slip collar should be included for everyone at the price you charge. I can get any knife truer than any factory edge. In fact I stopped doing them for friends as the knives come up crazy sharp and half of my friends ending up cutting themselves and I got blamed. LOL You can literally shave with a completed knife. Tip - inspect the progress with a powerful magnifying glass so you see what is happening.
Thanks for the feedback Bobby. I completely understand that people who use the collar are passionate about it. But a lot of people never use it and don't even notice that they are getting a little bit of angle change. So we make it available for those who take sharpening a little more seriously and want to learn how to use it. And leave it out for those who are satisfied with the level of accuracy without it and don't want to take the time to learn how to use it.
@@EdgePro - Thanks for your reply. You're correct. When you first get the Edge Pro you can tend to go a bit overboard with the sharpening - changing stones to go all the way from 100 up to 800 and more. In reality - if the knife is reasonable you only need one stone - the 400 grit is OK on it's own and most people wouldn't know the difference - if you only used that - it's still better than most knives direct from a factory. I noticed that for curved blades the angle can change as you go around the curve. Some people have modified the Edge pro to have a one meter long arm to get a more consistent angle in that case. Of course it becomes a workshop tool then rather than a kitchen table or bench tool and would no longer be portable. Thanks for an excellent product.
There's a slight amount of play in almost any mechanical device, that coupled with the usually small angle differences of different thickness stones or strops is perhaps why this is the case? But with 2 radically different thickness stones you would use a drill collar / angle gauge / marker?
@@Bobby-fj8mk _it's still better than most knives direct from a factory._ I am with you on that statement. Like most people, I had to learn how to use my Edge-Pro, and soon became proficient at it. It's then that I noticed new knives direct from the factory were NOT as sharp as I could get them. Now I can quickly determine what kind of condition a knife is in just by look and feel, and when I am sharpening it I can tell by the sound where it's at in the sharpening process. When I go to knife shows there are always a few venders there promoting some _gadget_ that supposedly sharpens your knife by just pulling it through their _gadget._ I cringe every time I see some poor unsuspecting soul give their pocket knife to the vender to pull it through. It must be tearing up that edge something awful. I remember watching this cute young lady pulling knives through this gadget and then she looked at me and wanted me to giver her my pocket knife. I politely declined knowing that her gadget would only make my knife duller.
Gentlemen, thank you for this video and for your products and services. Seeing the evolution of the Edge Pro products and the business is wonderful and very satisfying. Over the years your library of videos have been super helpful for me. Every time I have called for help you have been more than gracious and helpful...good old fashioned, first rate customer service. I love my Apex sharpener. My knifes are sharper than right out of the box from the factory. Has it been one week since this video was made? I'm really struggling to wait a week for the announcement. Could I have a little hint as to what is forthcoming? Don't make me wait, it's torture by a thousand cuts (pun intended).
Thank you so much, I'm glad to hear that the videos have been helpful for you. The official launch date will be May 22nd. If you study the thumbnail you can get an idea of what it looks like. If you didn't receive the email announcement that gives details (but doesnt include a picture) . . .send me an email at info@edgeproinc.com and I will get a copy sent over to you.
Hello to both of you Mr. Dale and Cody, nice overview of the origin and evolution of the EdgePro. It's amazing how much sharpening experience Mr. Dale has. Many years ago, Cliff Stamp had started a friendly contest where he was sending two disposable utility blades to whoever asking for them and the rule was basically sharpening them whatever way to get the highest sharpness and edge retention possible and IIRC blades sharpened by Mr. Dale were the sharpest at some point in time. I don't know how many people participated and if even a winner was ever named... Cliff Stamp not being with us anymore, his website is no more accessible...
😳🤔New idea...💁💁💁 Excellent interview, thank you! 👍🙏 I've been an Apex Pro Professional user for about 4-5 years and have all the upgrades and stones... I would seriously love to see a new commercial grade pro that has larger stones and longer travel, a more secure knife holder, and a quick flip knife holder. The this thing would be absolutely unstoppable.🔥🔥🔥 It would also be knife to hold 2x6 and 3x8 thin diamond and cbn stones, toss would be utterly amazing!!! 🤞🙏🤞🙏🤞🙏🤞🙏🤞🙏🤞🙏🤞🙄🙄🙄🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
This will be a significant upgrade from the Apex. And it will be similar, but different from the Pro. I think it will check some of the boxes you are hoping for but it may not check them all 😪
I got customers the same way you did by offering to sharpen one knife for free. Once I made enough money to pay for my $750.00 Edge-Pro I stopped looking for business and just sharpen my own knives or if someone comes to me and ask me to sharpen theirs I'll do it, but I don't promote it anymore.
This was such a wonderful journey through the evolution of the Edge Pro!!

Yep! Lansky was my first back in the day! When I first got the Pro, I went to all my friends and got around fifty knives to learn on.
😳🤔🙄😬🙄🙄💁 Are they still your friends...??? 🙈🤣🤣🤣
Good for you, that's a great way to learn by fire! 👍👍👍
Great way to learn. There's never a shortage dull knives to practice on.

Never realized the Professional model came before the Apex. Great to see some examples of early machines too.
I'm glad you was obsessed with knife sharpening because my Edge pro blasted my knife sharpening skills into the stratosphere ❤
Thank you! =)

Thanks Josh! I hope your move to Hawaii goes smooth. - Cody
Wow!! You have my attention!
Stay tuned in!
Thanks for the back story. Love the history. Amd my apex of course
