This was great... my only recommendation for everyone doing this is to be super careful taking off the old tape because if it snaps back and bunches up you are in trouble. New screen didn't come with new tape.
Great tutorial but i must say this is dangerous you should've warned your viewers to unplug external power and batter before installation, doing it right away may damage the new lcd.
When doing a display replacement always disconnect battery of the laptop. Never replace anything in he laptop without disconnecting battery first. Even when it comes to screen replacement. I don't know where most of these people have learnt this stuff since it feels like 90% of them never disconnect the battery. Which is so wrong
I did same operation on zephyrus g15 2021 - and it has thick adhesive layer on the bottom bezel itself (yes, not behind but on the bezel, just below the screen). It was the main problem during disassembly. I even damaged thin plastic layer protecting tiny PCB soldered to the screen.
Asus will be at fault for not having videos like this all over the internet with its different models, i tried this replacement on my G731GW XB74, and my replacement came broken and without adhesive to even hold it to the plastic. asus is def not diy friendly
is it possible to upgrade the screen from the full hd one to wqhd, if the same model comes with both of them in the market? I purchased an asus rog strix g15 (2021 model) and the same one can be found with wqhd screen. So I just want to know if I could upgrade it
I have zephyrus g15 2021 with fhd screen, ordered wqhd screen from china to try =) Wish me luck BTW - did you find anything about possibility of such modification ?
Asus laptop uses pull able adhesive like in iPhone has got for their batteries. Idea is probably because replacement shall be easier and less risks of losing screws and such. Just my guess since screen breaks most of times. Due to kid breaking it xD
@@tseyksuli4541 True, but guess what happens when you put that adhesive on the new screen and it didn't line up exactly inside the housing.....So you pull out the new screen to re-fit it....and then you turn on the laptop..........and then you realize the new screen is now cracked.......because you had to peel it off like a sticker.
@@crusty21 that is probably why black plate is for to apply adhesive right. Since in video you see guy pulls both adhesive and two places has got plates where adhesive sits on. He was supposed pull adhesive tabs bellow in each corner but didn't do that. Since I saw another video where a guy removed adhesive from back of screen by pulling each tab in each corner at bottom. Like you do to a iPhone battery and that's how he got adhesive removed properly.
I've replaced my (bad) asus g712 screen based on your tutorial. Thank you :)
The only difference is : it took me 1 hour to do the same thing ^^

My model has a 60hz screen. This might be a dumb question but could I just plop a 120hz screen and call it a day? Or is it only compatible with 60?
You can
For the bottom bezel, is there some kind of adhesive behind the bezel ?
No, there is no adhesive behind the bezel, only behind the lcd on both sides.

How many pins does the laptop's display has? is it 30 pins of 40 pins?
I believe, 30 pin is non-touch and 40 pin is the touch screen.
@@phoneplanet3369 modern rog zephyrus models both have 40 pin even on non-touch models.
